#AceNewsServices – April 07 – LONDON – (Telegraph) reports that Shrien Dewani, the British man accused of organising the murder of his wife on their honeymoon, is due to be extradited to South Africa.
The 33 year-old millionaire care home owner is expected to board a direct flight from London on Monday night, arriving in Cape Town on Tuesday morning.
It is understood he will then be driven straight to the Western Cape High Court for a formal bail application, three-and-a-half years after his Swedish wife Anni, 28, was shot as the couple’s taxi was apparently car-jacked in the Gugulethu township in November 2010.
Mr Dewani has been fighting his extradition to South Africa, with his legal team arguing he was too ill to be extradited and would be a high suicide risk as he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression.
But in January, Dewani, who has been detained in the UK under the Mental Health Act, lost his High Court bid to block his extradition to South Africa.
