Two large black backpacks were found near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, where a year ago was a terrorist attack.
According to witnesses, the offender of the incident was a barefoot man dressed in black. He threw backpacks on the ground with a cry of “Boston is the power!” And then tried to escape, but was immediately detained by law enforcement officials.
The FBT has joined to investigate the incident. Bomb-disposal experts destroyed the suspicious items using a special robot.
The police evacuated people, blocked streets and closed a nearby subway station immediately after the discovery of backpacks.
Bombings that killed three people and injured more than 260 took place April 15, 2013 in down–town Boston, near the finish line of a marathon.
More than 3500 policemen, twice as many as last year, will provide security this year for the marathon April 21. The Boston Marathon is held annually since 1897 and it is the oldest and one of the most prestigious races in the world of athletics.
