#AceNewsServices – CAIRO – April 27 – An Egyptian security official says authorities have arrested a spokesman for the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, who reportedly spent the past ten months on the run evading a government crackdown on the Islamist group, according to the Associated Press.
The official told the Associated Press that Mehrez was detained in the Egyptian capital on Friday.
The Muslim Brotherhood spokesman is accused of inciting murder and violence after Islamist President Mohammad Mursi was removed from power in July 2013.
Cairo designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group in late 2013 and since then authorities have been cracking down on the group from which Mursi hails.
An Al Arabiya correspondent said one woman was killed Friday during clashes between Muslim Brotherhood supporters and security forces in the province of al-Fayyoum, south-west of Cairo.
Medical sources speaking to Reuters news agency identified the woman as Reda Dahish.
