#AceWorldNews – UNITED NATIONS – May 06 – Lakhdar Brahimi, special envoy of the UN and the Arab League for Syria, is expected to resign in late May, RIA Novosti reported.
He was initially planning to resign at a meeting with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday, but the latter persuaded him to stay on until a replacement is found.
Several Algerian newspapers reportedly said Wednesday that Brahimi could accept a high position in President Bou Tafliqa’s new administration.
