` Police Fired Tear-Gas and Water Cannons At 10,000 Royalist Protesters ‘

#AceWorldNews – BANGKOK – May 09Police fired tear-gas and water cannons against over 10,000 royalist protesters in Thailand’s capital in the aftermath of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s ouster.

Demonstrators led by the opposition’s Suthep Thaugsuban are demanding that the authorities disband the rest of the government within three days or face more aggressive protests. Yingluck’s Puea Thai Party still runs the cabinet and hopes to organize and win the July 20 election.

The protesters want the election postponed and reforms to end the influence of Yingluck’s brother, former premier Thaksin Shinawatra. Tens of thousands of the Shinawatras’ Red Shirt supporters, angered by Yingluck’s ouster, are also on their way to Bangkok for a rally Saturday.
