#AceWorldNews – CAIRO – June 07 – An Egyptian court sentenced 10 supporters of the banned Muslim Brotherhood group to death in absentia, Reuters reports.
Those sentenced were convicted on charges including inciting violence and blocking a major thoroughfare north of Cairo during protests after the army toppled Islamist President Mohamed Morsi last July.
All of the defendants have reportedly been in hiding since Morsi’s ouster.
The court, however, postponed sentencing for the movement’s leader and other senior members on trial in the same case, judicial sources told the agency.
Judge Hassan Fareed said the verdict for the 38 remaining defendants would be announced at a hearing on July 5.
