When Matthew Coniglio, 46, was arrested April 10 at his Georgia home on a child pornography charge, his house contained child pornography, including more than 50,000 images and videos stored on laptops and external hard drives.
(ABC27 May 21 2014 ) ATLANTA, Ga. — The FBI is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying victims of a suspected serial child predator who has been living in the South-East United States. The female victims, some as young as 8 years old, may be unaware of what happened to them.
Matthew John Coniglio, a 46-year-old United States citizen who was jailed in Savannah, Georgia, on April 10, 2014, for possession of child pornography, committed suicide on April 20, 2014. At the time of his arrest, Coniglio worked as a sales representative for a food distribution company based out of Florida.
Videotaped evidence seized at the time of his arrest in Pooler, Georgia, suggests that Coniglio drugged multiple young females who he subsequently molested and raped. Coniglio also possessed more than 50,000 images/videos depicting child pornography. There is no evidence to suggest that he shared or traded any of the videotaped assaults.
Coniglio, who lived in cities across Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, hanged himself in an apparent suicide inside a Georgia prison before his trial could start.
Investigators found 56 8-millimetre tapes showing Coniglio attacking girls who may have been drugged into unconsciousness.
It is not known how many different girls were attacked as many of the victims’ faces cannot be clearly identified.
