LONDON: ‘ Secret Trial Over Alleged Bomb Making Hears Tony Blair’s House Was Potential Target ‘

#AceNewsServices – BRITAIN (London) – October 14 – A property belonging to Tony and Cherie Blair was named today as a potential terror target.

As the UK’s first secret terror trial opened at the Old Bailey, the jury was told that when defendant Erol Incedal, 26, was stopped by police last year, he was in possession of a piece of paper hidden in a white Versace glasses case containing the Blairs’ address.

Richard Whittam QC, prosecuting, said that although Incedal had not decided on a particular target or methodology, the address may “have some significance”.

Also found in his black Mercedes was an Acer computer, a notebook, the glasses case and a USB dongle, the court heard.

As the car was searched, a listening device was placed in the car, transcripts from which will later be heard in court.

When Incedal was arrested the following month, a secure digital card was found “hidden” in an iPhone case contained three files relating to “Bomb Making”, it was claimed.

Mr Whittam told the jury that much of the “exceptional” case would be heard in private.

Only a small group of accredited journalists, including one from The Telegraph, will be granted access to much of the trial but will not be able to report on proceedings.

The jury has been told that some of the evidence they hear will never be made public.

Mr Whittham said Incedal was engaged in an act of terrorism either against a limited number of individuals, an “individual of significance” or a more indiscriminate attack such as the one in Mumbai in 2008.
