A judge accused Zainab of insulting King Hamad by tearing up his picture.
Zainab, daughter of jailed activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, who is on hunger strike, appeared on Tuesday at an appeal hearing into two cases that date back to 2012, lawyer Mohammed al-Wasti said on Wednesday.
Bahraini authorities have not commented on the statement. Zainab, who is pregnant, became known for publishing news of the 2011 uprising on social media.
