Three other defendants in the case of the murder of United Georgian Bank employee, Sandro Girgvliani, were former interior ministry officials, who were sentenced to four years and six months in prison each, RAPSI said.

Ace News reported previously that Merabishvili is already serving a term after the Kutaisi City Court sentenced him to five years in prison for embezzlement and spending of interior ministry funds, bribing voters and abuse of power.
