WASHINGTON: Senate votes to override veto of Saudi 9/11 bill

The Senate voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to override President Barack Obama’s veto of legislation allowing families of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks to sue the government of Saudi Arabia. The final tally was 97-1.

The House is expected to take up the matter later this week. It would be the first successful veto override of Obama’s presidency.
