#AceNewsReport – July.16: A man charged with terrorism offences following an investigation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on Monday, 15 July: Mohammed Yamin, 25 (11.09.93) of east London pleaded guilty to engaging in preparation of terrorist acts contrary to Section 5(1) of the Terrorism Act (TACT) 2006 – namely between 2 July 2013 and 10 July 2013, with the intention of committing acts of terrorism, he purchased equipment and clothing and a one-way flight ticket to facilitate the journey to Syria and his subsequent travel to Syria.
He also pleaded guilty to membership of a proscribed organisation contrary to Section 11 TACT 2000, namely Al Qa’ida, between 10 July 2013 and 1 June 2014: He pleaded not guilty to possessing property – namely a gun – for terrorist purposes contrary to Section 57 TACT 2000 and this charge will lay on file.
Yamin was remanded in custody for sentencing at the Old Bailey on 4 October: He was arrested by officers from the Counter Terrorism Command on 30 and charged on the following day.
