Footage played in court showed Lyndon getting off a bus and walking towards his home address when a group travelling together in a car and on a moped saw him and followed his route: Worrie was seen riding past the victim on a moped before he got off and made slashing movements towards him, chasing him into a walkway. Two of the other males then followed them, armed with knives: CCTV then captured the teenagers leaving the alleyway and fleeing the scene using the same moped and car they had arrived in: Analysis of CCTV from earlier the same day showed the group hanging around together on the same moped in the afternoon, while examination of mobile phone data showed calls were made between those on the moped and those in the car just moments before the murder: The court heard that the defendants targeted Davis as he was believed to be associated with a rival gang.
Detective Chief Inspector John Massey, who led the investigation, said: “These young men set out that afternoon armed to carry out a fatal attack on Lyndon should the opportunity arise – sadly for him they managed to get to him just minutes before he would have reached his front door: “All have denied any responsibility for the murder of an 18-year-old who had his whole life ahead of him: “This was a long and complex investigation but I am pleased these individuals have now been brought to justice and will have to face the consequences of their actions.”
