#AceNewsReport – Nov.25: A farmer allegedly committed suicide on Saturday night by jumping in front of a train in Hanumangarh, reportedly due to an unpaid bank loan: Police said the deceased, Jagdish Nayak, was mentally unstable and committed the act, while sources claimed the farmer was troubled by an outstanding loan of nearly Rs 3.85 lakh from a private bank.

Nayak, in his 70s, hailed from Sardargadiya village in Hanumangarh district. Suresh Meel, SHO of Gogameri police station, told TOI: “Nayak jumped in front of an oncoming train, close to his farmland. We spoke to his family and they told us that he was mentally unstable and was under treatment.

It is quite possible he took his life owing to the ailment.” …………………However, sources said Nayak was troubled over his inability to repay a bank loan.

We will contact bank officials on the matter: Cops said:
“During preliminary investigation, we found that he had taken a loan of Rs 3.85 lakh from a bank: As the bank is closed on Sunday, we could not get the exact details about his loan. We will contact the bank officials on Monday regarding this matter,” SHO Meel said.

In June, a 45-year-old farmer committed suicide in Sriganganagar, again because of an outstanding loan of Rs 2.5 lakh, which he was unable to repay: In his purported suicide note, Sohan Lal, the farmer, accused the Ashok Gehlot government of not honouring their poll commitment to waive off farm loans: In the same month, a 60-year-old farmer, Arjun Khandar, committed suicide in Baran district, also over a loan of Rs 4 lakh, which he was unable to repay, sources said.
