#AceNewsReport – Feb.13: A group of mothers and two men who conspired to make £870,000 in false childcare claims have been sentenced for their part in the scam: Based in two terraced houses in Rusholme, 66-year-old Mohamed Goth and 43-year-old Feisal Sadi, the organisers of the fraud, set up two companies through which they ran an educational skills centre and a child care centre. However, these companies were actually only established for the purpose of committing fraud.

Group sentenced for making £870k-worth of false childcare claims

More than 60 women were ‘employed’ by the conspirators in the role of cleaners, teaching assistants, or childcare assistants, but these positions were bogus and designed only to generate false claims for tax credits, housing benefits and council tax benefits.

Building the case

Although there was some provision of childcare, with teachers employed, it was not genuine childcare and the CPS was able to prove that the arrangement was a sham: Despite many of the mothers being employed as teaching assistants, the teachers described the classes as chaotic as there was no actual assistant support: Instead, many of the mothers spent time in a separate room waiting for their children to finish their class………..A large number of the women, about twenty at any one time, were employed as cleaners, even though the premises they were supposed to be cleaning were two mid-sized terraced houses, in a residential street in Manchester.

When investigators raided the properties they found them filthy, with hardly any cleaning materials on the premises: They also discovered that a mouse infestation in the small cafe in the childcare centre had been reported to the Council.

Sadi and Goth provided false invoices and payslips to the women, which they used to support their claims for tax credits, housing benefits and council tax benefits and have been sentenced to a collective 12 years in prison.
