On Sunday, 4 April at 01:30hrs, on Digby Road, E9 the same moped, also with two riders, stopped by the passenger side of a car which had two members of the public in. The driver of the moped approached the passenger window and gestured the occupants to wind it down. It was at this point that the moped passenger pulled out a shotgun. Fortunately the vehicle managed to get away and there were no injuries.

The third incident is a robbery of a moped, which took place on Monday, 5 April at Warner Place, E2. Following immediate enquiries, this moped was located by police, as well as another moped suspected to be involved in the incidents earlier in the weekend. Following searches, police also found a zombie knife, a handgun, ammunition and a shotgun in the same area.

Warrants were carried out overnight (this morning) on an address on Stephan’s Close, E8 and Fleece Walk, N7. The two men were arrested and evidence seized.

Detective Superintendent Mike Hamer, who led the investigation, said: “Our number one priority is to protect our community from harm. These two men are incredibly dangerous individuals who are now off the streets of London. Their brazen attitude to carrying firearms in London and threatening members of the public in order to carry out their crimes is staggering. But for the timely and quality interventions carried out by my officers, we could very easily have been looking at a homicide investigation: “ Officers have worked round the clock over this holiday period and have done an incredible job and in quick time. Gun crime will not be tolerated in the Capital and we will continue to do whatever we can to stop those who carry out these violent and unnecessary crimes.”
