(BELFAST, N.I) Crown Court Report: A parcel delivery driver has been found guilty of assisting in the importation of class A drugs into Northern Ireland, following an investigation by the National Crime Agency, working as part of the Paramilitary Crime Task Force #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Apr.27: It followed the seizure of a parcel containing around 94 grams of cocaine, hidden within a car part: The parcel containing the drugs had been sent from the Republic of Ireland and was destined for an address on Casson’s delivery round in Belfast:

Belfast delivery driver found guilty of importing class A drugs: ‘Colin Casson, 45, of Dunmurry was arrested by NCA officers in November 2018 at his depot in Belfast & the drugs would have had a street value of more than £27,000 if cut and sold’

On Thursday 22 April, following a one week trial at Belfast Laganside Crown Court, Casson was found guilty of being knowingly concerned in the importation of controlled drugs. He has been released on bail until sentencing on 27 May.

National Crime Agency regional head of investigations Gerry McLean said:

“Casson attempted to use his insider knowledge of the fast parcel system to thwart checks and bring class A drugs into Northern Ireland.

“Working with our partners through the PCTF we are determined to stem the flow of illegal drugs and stop the violence and exploitation that comes with them.”

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly, of the Paramilitary Crime Task Force, added: “ We are committed to working as part of the Paramilitary Crime Task to bring those involved in drugs criminality before the courts.”
