(EDINBURG, Tx.) CBP REPORT: Agents and local authorities disrupt three human smuggling attempts and arrest over 300-illegal migrants in two separate incidents together with discovery of a marijuana tunnel #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – May.25: Three Human Smuggling Attempts Yield 56 Migrant Arrests in the RGV: Early this morning, Penitas Police Department requested assistance from McAllen Border Patrol Station agents when a Ford Expedition failed to yield.

CBP Agents on Sunday morning, RGV agents received information of a hotel in Alamo, Texas, being used to harbor migrants. Border Patrol, in coordination with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the location and encountered 17 migrants illegally present in the United States within four rooms in the hotel. The subjects were taken into Border Patrol custody for processing & RGV Border Patrol Agents Find Marijuana in Tunnel:

HIDALGO, Texas– Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents discover $100K worth of marijuana inside a tunnel in Hidalgo, Texas: Last night, McAllen Border Patrol Station agents in Hidalgo, Texas, discovered a man-made tunnel leading to a water drainage system. A search of the area revealed 30 bundles of marijuana tied together for the purpose of being pulled through the tunnel. Inside the drainage system, agents discovered two Mexican nationals illegally present in the United States.

The bundles of marijuana weighed approximately 135 pounds and are worth over $100K. The marijuana was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. Border Patrol processed the subjects accordingly.

The vehicle eventually pulled over near Tom Gil Road and the driver fled on foot into the nearby neighborhood. Border Patrol agents arrived at the location and discovered nine subjects, including a 13 year old child, inside the vehicle. Agents on scene were able to determine that the nine subjects were illegally present in the United States and from the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador. The migrants were transported to a Border Patrol facility and processed accordingly. The driver was not located.

Additionally, Border Patrol agents discovered 30 migrants being harbored in a Rio Grande City, Texas, residence suspected of operating as a human smuggling stash house.  

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation. The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.

HIDALGO, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol Agents encounter two large groups totaling 278 migrants in Hidalgo, Texas.

Yesterday afternoon, Weslaco Border Patrol Station agents responded to a large group of migrants entering illegally into the United States through Hidalgo, Texas. Agents arrived and took 115 migrants into custody. Ninety-seven migrants crossed with their families and 18 were unaccompanied children. The migrants are citizens of Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.

Later that day, Weslaco agents returned to the same location in Hidalgo, Texas, and encountered 163 migrants that entered illegally into the United States. One hundred fifteen migrants were identified as families, 35 as unaccompanied children, and 13 single adults. The migrants encountered are from the countries of Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Ecuador.

All migrants were found to be in good health and transported to a border patrol facility for processing.
