BAHRAIN: ‘ Release Sunni-Opposition leader Ibrahim Sharif after 4-years ‘

#AceNewsReport – BAHRAIN:June.20:  The Bahraini government has released a Sunni opposition leader who had been imprisoned for four years for taking part in Shiite-backed anti-government protests, the Waed secular group – his party, announced on its Twitter account.

Ibrahim Sharif became a prominent face in the 2011 uprising that demanded a constitutional monarchy and an elected prime minister. He was later charged along with 20 other activists for allegedly plotting to overthrow the Sunni rulers of Bahrain – a Shiite-majority country.

He received a five-year sentence, which was one of the lesser sentences. Eight others received life. News of the release comes four days after another opposition leader – the Shiite Ali Salman – received a four-year sentence for inciting disobedience. Salman’s group was also a key force in the 2011 uprising.

Some 90 people have died in clashes with security forces since then, according to rights groups. Hundreds more have been put on trial.

RUSSIA/CHINA: ‘ Agreement on Far East Land Lease for 50-years ‘

#AceNewsReport – Russia and China will have the possibility to develop their cooperation in the agricultural field to the full extent.

Crimea Presents Agricultural, Industrial Projects in Saudi Arabia

The agreement between Russia’s Zabaikalsky Territory and Chinese company Huae Sinban to lease 115,000 hectares of Russian farmland to China is not only a major step in agricultural cooperation, but also a perfect example of trust between the two countries, according to an article from the Chinese newspaper Huanqiu Shibao.

The author of the article, Wang Haiyun, is senior advisor at the Chinese Institute for International Strategic Studies.

He believes that now Russia and China will have the possibility to develop to the full extent their cooperation in the agricultural field.

Rostselmash, among the world's largest agricultural equipment producers, has ambitious plans to increase its exports by 20 percent this year, noting that the devaluation of the ruble has increased the company's cost competitiveness. Pictured: ACROS-500 grain harvesters

Major Russian Agricultural Equipment Firm Plans 20% Increase in Exports in 2015

The fact that Russian authorities agreed to lease such an immense territory for 49 years proves that Moscow has no ideological prejudice towards Beijing, the article said.

For a long time Russian society believed in the mythical Chinese threat, including economic expansion and territorial claims, the author wrote. The recent agreement shows the high level of mutual confidence between Russia and China.

He stressed the need to “think open” and to eradicate absurd claims that for China agricultural cooperation means territorial expansion.

Why May China and India Need Russia’s Armata Super Tank?

Expansion is contrary to Chinese cultural values and its policy towards Russia. Expansion allegations are a provocation by unfriendly forces aimed against the blooming Russian-Chinese cooperation, Haiyun concluded.

He also expresses hopes that the agricultural industry will be a perspective field for long-term cooperation between the two countries and would help find a way to resolve the global food crisis.

‘ Middle East is Ruled by Militias That Have Risen Since Arab Spring ‘

#AceNewsServices (Opinion) – October 14 – Embattled governments in Iraq and Syria have come to rely on Shiite militias as their armies have crumbled in the face of mostly Sunni insurgents and rebels.

In Libya, various armed groups loosely allied with two rival governments have fought over bullet-riddled airports.

Shiite rebels in Yemen have swept down from the north, capturing the capital and, on Tuesday, a key port city.

The chaos unleashed by the Arab Spring has led to the rise of powerful militias – including many Islamic extremist groups – across a Middle East where many central governments have been exposed as weak.

Some of the groups are allied with the governments, while others are fighting to topple them.

Some – like the Kurdish peshmerga in northern Iraq – are seen as vital allies for the West.

All could prove to be major obstacles to peace or stability in the region.

TUNISIA: ‘ Islamist Party Ennahda Will Not Contest Presidential Election’

AceWorldNews – TUNISIA – September 08 – Tunisia’s main Islamist party, Ennahda, said on Sunday it would not contest a presidential election in November, in the interest of ensuring an inclusive government for all Tunisians.

TUNISIA-POLITICS-PARTY-ISLAM

Ennahda is one of the two front-runners to win next month’s parliamentary election and provide the next prime minister, but opposition groups say its dominance of the last government almost derailed Tunisia’s transition to democracy following its revolution of 2011.

The president makes senior military and foreign policy appointments as well as nominating the prime minister, and ceding the post to an outside candidate on Nov. 23 sends a signal that Ennahda will avoid making the same mistakes if it wins the parliamentary election.

“We want to send a positive message to the Tunisian people and politicians … We do not want to dominate all contests, especially since Ennahda will feature strongly in the parliamentary election next month,” party spokesman Zied Ladhari told Reuters.

Ennahda won the first free election after the overthrow of autocratic president Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali in 2011, but was accused by the opposition of seeking to entrench itself in power, disregarding the interests of a large secular urban population and being lenient toward radical Islamists.

When two secular opposition leaders were assassinated by Islamist militants last year, the only stable, democratic government to emerge from any of the Arab Spring revolutions appeared to be in jeopardy, until Ennahda stepped down in favour of a non-partisan interim government.

With a new, broad-based constitution now agreed and in force, the Oct. 26 parliamentary election should complete Tunisia’s transition to full democracy.

Opinion polls taken two months ago put both Ennahda and the main secular party, Nida Tounes, on around 30 percent.

` Vladimir Putin accuses the `United States’ and their Allies of Seizing the Right to decide destinies and ignoring UN Decision’s ‘

#AceWorldNews – Moscow – March 18. – Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused the United States and their allies of seizing the right to decide the destinies of the world, create coalitions according to the “who is not with us is against us” principle, at the same time ignoring the United Nations decisions.

“After the disintegration of the bipolar world, only they seized the right to decide the destinies of the world, they use force against sovereign states, create coalitions, push through the UN resolutions they need and ignore other decisions,” the Russian president said in an address in connection with the admission of Crimea to the Russian Federation.

He recalled the bombings of Belgrade, “although the UN Security Council had not given a resolution for that,” the events in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya when air strikes were launched “instead of a no-fly zone.”

“The colour revolutions ended in chaos, outbreaks of violence, and the ‘Arab Spring’ turned into an ‘Arab winter,’” said the Russian president.
