(GRT Manchester) GM Police Report: At around 9.00am on Wednesday morning (11 August 2021) officers executed a warrant at a warehouse on Bradshawgate in Bolton town centre uncovering huge cannabis farm #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Aug.12: Initial searches of the building uncovered eleven rooms of cannabis plants, as well as evidence that people were living there such as beds, clothes and food.

#AceDailyNews reports that police officers in Bolton have uncovered a huge cannabis farm with a value of one million pounds in Wednesday morning raid at a warehouse….

Inspector Helen Chadwick of GMPs District Intelligence Unit said: “Locating a cannabis farm of this scale is a fantastic result for our officers who work hard to crack down on drug related crime in the area: Our Bolton Action Team (BAT) who led on this morning’s raid, focuses on the execution of warrants and tasks reacting to intelligence led crime trends and district threats: They were assisted by the Bolton Partnership Team, which is a police led multi-agency task force which coordinates partner agencies to reduce demand on front line policing and increase efficiency moving forward: The building is in the process of being made safe by an electrician due to the large amount of wiring surrounding the plants and once this has been done the plants will then be removed for analysis before being destroyed: This was a very well equipped, large cannabis farm likely involving a number of people at different levels of the drug supply chain: No arrests have yet been made but enquiries are ongoing and evidence is being gathered from the scene to try and track down those responsible for the farm: We hope that this find significantly disrupts the supply of cannabis in the area, ultimately making our local communities safer: In order to keep on disrupting this type of crime we do need the public to report any information they may have to us and so I would urge anyone who has information about this cannabis farm, or anyone connected to it, to please contact us so we can bring these people to justice.”

Anyone who has any information should call police on: 101 or use the GMP Website Live Chat facility quoting incident number 3127 of 11/08/2021: Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

(GRT MANCHESTER) Bolton Crown Court Report: The following were sentenced Wednesday (14 July 2021) after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply drugs #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – July.16: Today’s sentencing is the result of a large scale investigation by GMP’s Serious and Organised Crime Group (SOCG) as part of Operation Billabong, targeting drug supply in Greater Manchester.

#AceDailyNews reports that seven men from Greater Manchester have been sentenced to over 51 years in jail for their roles in a class A and B drugs conspiracy, uncovered by a dedicated GMP operation

Scott Round (03/09/1987), of Leader St, Wigan, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for conspiracy to supply class A and class B drugs.

Craig Walsh (30/10/1985), of Southern St, Wigan, was sentenced to a total of seven years and eight months for conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs.

Joshua Hill (15/04/1989), of Leader St, Wigan, was sentenced to nine years and six months imprisonment for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Cameron Jones (10/05/1999), of Ormskirk Rd, Wigan, was sentenced to a total of eight years and six months imprisonment for conspiracy to supply class A drugs and wounding with intent.

Adam Tempest (18/09/1986), of Dicconson St, Standish, was sentenced to three years for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Arran Parkin (08/12/1974), currently of HMP Manchester, who is currently serving a 14 year sentence for Conspiracy to commit GBH was also sentenced at an earlier date to nine years, to run consecutively to his current sentence. Parkin was found guilty after a five week trial at Bolton Crown Court.

Thomas Kavanagh (29/03/1985), was sentenced to four years at an earlier date while the investigation was still live and has already served his sentence in prison.

This brings the total prison sentence for all involved to 51 years and 8 months.

From September-November 2019, officers conducted a surveillance investigation culminating in a number of warrants being executed at numerous addresses across Greater Manchester, specifically in the Wigan area. The Police seized a significant amount of drugs, (namely cocaine, ketamine and cannabis), as well as cash, mobile phones and paraphernalia commonly used in the preparation and distribution of drugs.

It was during these warrants that the convicted were arrested and later charged.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Norman, of GMP’s Serious and Organised Crime Group said: Today’s result is a success for the investigation team, CPS and Prosecution Counsel, who have all worked tirelessly to make sure that these men have been taken off the streets of Greater Manchester and are no longer able to contribute to the devastating drugs trade that sees communities living in fear and people’s lives destroyed: This was a well-funded group of criminals who used encrypted mobile devices which utilise increasingly sophisticated technology to attempt to hide messages from police: These devices are almost exclusively used for criminal activity but our specialist officers were able to infiltrate the devices to recover crucial evidence which helped convict these people: I hope todays sentence sends a strong message to anyone involved in this type of crime that we will catch up with you and do all we can to see that you are brought to justice.”

(BOLTON, U.K.) Crown Court Report: A man from Wigan has been jailed after he sexually abused four children between 1991 and 2018 #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – July.06: He was also sentenced to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order: The court heard how in September 2018 GMP received a report from social services that a girl under the age of thirteen had disclosed that Johnson had been sexually touching her………Shortly after this report, it was revealed that Johnson had abused two other girls between 1991 and 2004. This abuse started when both girls were under the age of ten and continued until they were in their mid-teens: Both girls were repeatedly sexually assaulted by Johnson. He also raped one of the girls on multiple occasions: The court also heard Johnson had sexually abused a fourth child – a male – in the 1990s. On one occasion this included Johnson forcing the boy to masturbate him: In September 2018 Johnson was arrested and subsequently charged.

#AceDailyNews reports Dennis Johnson (01/02/1963) of Manchester Road, Westhoughton has today (Monday 5 July) been sentenced at Bolton Crown Court to 22 years and six months imprisonment after being found guilty of 21 separate offences including rape, sexual assault, actual bodily harm and witness intimidation.

Detective Constable, Karen Dewhurst of GMP’s Wigan district, said: “The sexual exploitation of children is abhorrent and Johnson’s despicable abuse spanned years. I want to commend the bravery of all four of Johnson’s victims, their courage and support throughout this investigation and has been crucial in helping to secure a significant conviction today: Although today’s sentence will never reverse the abuse Johnson inflicted, I hope it does help in providing a sense of closure for his victims knowing that he will be behind bars for over 22 years: Child sexual exploitation takes place in many forms and GMP is committed to ensuring all those responsible for such grotesque abuse face the appropriate justice. If you have been the victim of such crimes or feel you know someone who is a victim then please get in touch with police. All reports will be treated with the respect and sensitivity they deserve and we will work closely with you to ensure justice prevails.”

(LONDON) #Coronavirus Report: Working in partnership with Bolton Council, NHS Test and Trace is providing additional testing and genomic sequencing in targeted areas within the BL3 postcodes #AceHealthDesk report

#CoronavirusNewsDesk – ‘Surge testing to be deployed in Bolton: Additional surge testing and genomic sequencing deployed where a small number of confirmed cases of variants of concern have been identified’

It comes as a small number of cases of the variant first identified in South Africa (B.1.351) and a cluster of cases of the variant first identified in India (B.1.617.2) have been identified.

This follows the classification of the variant first identified in India as a variant of concern by Public Health England, and a public health assessment showing a rise in transmission in parts of Bolton. Confirmed cases have been asked to self-isolate and their contacts have been identified.

Everybody who resides or works in these postcodes is strongly encouraged to take a COVID-19 PCR test, whether they are showing symptoms or not.

Enhanced contact tracing will be used for individuals testing positive with a variant of concern. In these instances, contact tracers will look back over an extended period in order to determine the route of transmission.

By using PCR testing, positive results can be sent for genomic sequencing at specialist laboratories, helping us to identify variant of concern cases and their spread.

People with symptoms should book a free test online or by phone so they can get tested at a testing site or have a testing kit sent to them at home. Those without symptoms should visit the local authority website for more information.

People in this area should also continue using twice-weekly rapid testingalongside the PCR test as part of surge testing.

PHE health protection teams are working with local authorities, Directors of Public Health (DsPH) and NHS Test and Trace to detect cases and limit onward spread.

Background information
