#AceNewsReport – Sept.10: Islamic State twin suicide bombings at Baghdad mall kill 12

Twelve people were #killed late on Friday in two suicide bombings claimed by Islamic State at a shopping mall in eastern Baghdad, police and hospital sources said.

More than 40 people were wounded in the attack at Nakheel Mall across from the #oil ministry, the sources said. One #bomb went off at the entrance to the mall, the other in the parking lot.

Unconfirmed amateur video published on Facebook showed what appeared to be four separate fires, including two cars engulfed in flames, under a highway overpass near the mall amid the wailing sirens of first responders.

Amaq news agency, which supports Islamic State, said in an online statement that two suicide #bombers, one wearing a vest and the other in a car, had targeted “a gathering of Shi’ites” on Palestine Street.

#AceWorldNews – NEW YORK:Jan.03: A Libyan man accused of masterminding the 1998 al-Qaida bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania has died just days before he was due to stand trial in New York for the crimes The Guardian reported.

'Abu Anas al-Liby ' Most Wanted Dies '

‘Abu Anas al-Liby ‘ Most Wanted Dies ‘

Abu Anas al-Liby, 50, died on Friday from complications following liver surgery, his wife said.

He had a $5m (£3.3m) bounty on his head and was high on the FBI’s most-wanted list when he was captured by US forces in Tripoli in October 2013.

He and a Saudi businessman Khalid al-Fawwaz were due to stand trial on 12 January over the attacks, in which 244 people were killed and more than 5,000 wounded.

AP reporting said that fifteen years after allegedly helping al-Qaida plot the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, Abu Anas al-Libi parked his car on a quiet street in Libya’s capital.

Within moments, soldiers from the U.S. Army’s elite Delta Force forced him at gunpoint into a van and sped away.

They’d fly him to a naval ship in the Mediterranean Sea before finally bringing him to New York to stand trial on charges of helping kill 224 people, including a dozen Americans, and wound more than 4,500.

` Saudi Arabian Court has Sentenced 13 Men to Jail for Aiding, Abetting and Financing Conflicts Abroad ‘

#AceWorldNews – RIYADH – April 14 – (ALJ) – A Saudi Arabian court has jailed 13 men, handing down sentences from one to 10 years, for aiding and financing conflicts abroad, conspiring inside Saudi Arabia and harbouring wanted suspects, state news agency SPA reports.

Other charges for which the 13 were convicted on Sunday included money laundering, bribery and possession of illegal weapons. They were all given travel bans to come into force after their sentences finished. Another seven men were acquitted, SPA reported.

Saudi courts have sentenced hundreds of convicted fighters to prison terms in recent months as they work to overcome a long backlog of cases related to an anti-government campaign last decade that killed hundreds.

The security forces detained thousands of people after the bombings and shootings started in 2003. They were accused of security offences, including joining extremist groups and fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
