(ROME) Mass2016 Report: The Catholic Church and the French state commemorated Monday the fifth anniversary of the martyrdom of Father Jacques Hamel, whose throat was slit by two jihadists while he celebrated Mass on this day in 2016 #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Aug.01: On Monday morning, the archbishop of Rouen, Dominique Lebrun, celebrated a special Mass in homage to the priest, who has been called“Europe’s first 21st-century martyr,” at the site of the assassination, the parish church of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, in Normandy.

#AceDailyNews says France Honors Catholic Priest Martyred by Islamic Terrorists Following the Mass, the French state also held a ceremony in honor of Father Hamel, with the participation of Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin as well as the mayor of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, Joachim Moyse.

“Islamist barbarism touches upon all the symbols that make up France. Doesn’t the murder of a priest in his church deeply touch the soul of France?” Darmanin said from the platform, after listing jihadist attacks that have struck the country in recent years.

“The barbarism with which we have been confronted for many years is a barbarism that it is difficult to fight as it has no nationality or religion,” he continued, adding that “this barbarity continues to kill at home and at all times.”

For his part, Archbishop Lebrun underscored the importance of the beatification process underway to declare Jacques Hamel a saint.

“How can we not emphasize the happy and providential choice of Pope Francis to exempt us from the 5-year waiting period before opening the beatification process that could one day officially recognize the martyrdom of Father Jacques Hamel,” the archbishop said.

“The pope thus allowed the depositions of all the eyewitnesses to be collected,” he continued. “As you know, the diocesan investigation has been completed, deposited in Rome and we have received recognition of the validity of this investigation. The rest is no longer in our hands.”

As Breitbart News reported at the time, on the morning of July 26, 2016, Islamic State members Adel Kermiche and Abdel Malik Petitjean entered the small Catholic church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray as Father Jacques Hamel was celebrating Mass.

The attackers seized the priest and forced him to kneel before slitting his throat. Hamel’s last words were: “Depart from me, Satan!”

The jihadists also took the five congregation members hostage, critically injuring a religious sister, before being shot dead by French police.

Two months later, Pope Francis declared the slain priest to be a Christian “martyr,” a qualification that automatically makes the person a saint in the Church’s eyes.

Without formally canonizing Hamel, Francis said that Father Hamel is in heaven, noting that “all martyrs are blessed (beati),” a technical term the Catholic Church uses for those who have been “beatified” or declared to be in heaven.

“You can put this photo in the church, because he is blessed now, and if someone tells you that you do not have the right, tell them that the pope gave you permission,” Francis told the archbishop of Rouen. He was referring to a photo of the deceased priest, which the Pope had signed.

In a reflection on Christian martyrdom, the pope said that there are “more Christian martyrs” today than in the early days of Christianity.

“Today there are Christians murdered, tortured, imprisoned, slaughtered because they do not deny Jesus Christ,” he said, and Father Jacques Hamel “is part of this chain of martyrs.”

BRAZIL: ‘ Deaths of Indigenous people are on the rise as more are being Murdered ‘

#AceNewsReports – BRAZIL:June.20: Indigenous people in Brazil are being murdered at rates greater than ever before, a report by the Indigenous Missionary Council, a Catholic Church affiliate, says.

Last year saw the deaths of 138 Indians killed, according to the rights group, which says suicide among indigenous Brazilians is also up. Statistics show a 42 percent increase in 2014 compared to the previous year.

This appears to be caused by a lack of medical assistance and a relaxed attitude to indigenous rights, according to the authors. The number of indigenous deaths last year was bigger than any in 29 years. “We cannot establish the causes but we can see the connections: there is lots of racism and rejection by the urban population,” Lucia Rangel, an anthropologist with the organization, told AFP.

It blames government policies it says do not fulfil one of the key demands of indigenous groups: demarcated territories.

Agriculture and deforestation is part of the problem, according to the authors.

‘ Orange Order Twelfth Parade Celebrations Passes Without Incident ‘

#AceWorldNewsNORTHERN IRELAND – July 12 – Tens of thousands of Orangemen and women are taking part in 12 July celebrations across Northern Ireland.

There were no incidents as a feeder parade passed a sectarian flashpoint at shops in Ardoyne in north Belfast.

The main Belfast parade has made its way through the city centre where there is a large police presence.

All the parades stopped for six minutes in protest at the Parades Commission determination on the return of the north Belfast feeder parade.

There was a small protest outside St Patrick‘s Catholic Church in Donegall Street, where bands played a drum beat rather than hymns or loyalist tunes.

The 12 July is traditionally the biggest day in the Protestant marching season – running from April to August – with main 17 parades and several feeder parades taking place this year.

They mark King William III‘s victory over Catholic King James at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.

While most parades proceed without incident, some that pass nationalist areas are controversial.

Around 20 residents stood outside Ardoyne shops in north Belfast as the Orange Order parade passed on Saturday morning.

The residents said they were there to observe, not to protest, and the march was not obstructed.

‘ Senior Member of Australia’s Catholic Church Has Been Charged with Sexually Abusing a Teenage Student ‘

#AceWorldNews – AUSTRALIA – A senior member of Australia’s Catholic Church has stepped down from his post after being charged with sexually abusing a teenage student decades ago, AP reported.

Bishop Max Davis, the head of the church’s military diocese, is accused of molesting a student in 1969 when he was a teacher at St. Benedict’s College in Western Australia, according to the Catholic Military Ordinariate of Australia.

At that time the bishop was not ordained, the church said. Police in Western Australia said they charged a 68-year-old man on Friday with indecently assaulting a 13-year-old boy.

Davis, who denies the charges, has stepped down while the court deals with the case.

` Vatican Attempts to Subvert Justice for the Abused Children by Minimising Culpability to Vatican City ‘

#AceNewsServices – ROME – Vatican – May 05 – The Vatican attempted to minimize its culpability over the Catholic Church’s child sexual abuse scandal as a UN committee on torture grilled the institution over it alleged “climate of impunity” which has prevailed for decades.

In a two-hour hearing in Geneva, the Committee Against Torture was unrelenting in its questioning of the Vatican delegation, asking about past policy decisions, the juridical distinction between the Holy See and Vatican City, and information on specific cases, Reuters reports.

The Vatican, which is set to issue a formal answer on Tuesday, said the church has been cleaning house for the past decade and was determined to protect children further with a series of measures, which they say has led to a decline in cases of sexual abuse by priests.

Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, the Vatican’s UN ambassador in Geneva, maintained that the treaty only applied to the Vatican City, which covers an area of less than half a square kilometre and numbers fewer than 1,000. Tomasi said that although the Holy See can be viewed as a moral force, the “agent of justice” for crimes perpetuated against Catholics were the authorities in the states where those offences occurred.

“It should be stressed, particularly in light of much confusion, that the Holy See has no jurisdiction,” he said in opening remarks.

“The Holy See intends to focus exclusively on the Vatican City state,” he told the committee. “State authorities are obligated to protect and when necessary to prosecute persons under their jurisdiction.”

But committee member, Felice Gaer, asked if the Vatican was in fact being proactive in cleaning house internally, why had the institution’s first report to the committee been filed 9 years late. Gaer, an American human rights expert, further took issue with the church’s “alleged distinction” between the Vatican City and the Holy See, which can roughly be viewed as the central government of the Catholic Church.

The differentiation, she said, “would create important gaps in the coverage” of the treaty and is a “troubling” bit of legalese, AP reports.

“We call for all parties to adhere to the strict meaning of the convention,” Gaer told the Vatican delegation led by Tomasi.

The Vatican delegation’s appearance in Geneva marks the first time that the committee charged with enforcing the UN Convention Against Torture, which the Vatican ratified in 2002, has hauled the Holy See before its members.

Pope Asks For Forgiveness For Evil Sex Abuse Scandal

I did two blogs already on this story:

For me this is too little, too late. They are Animals. Some could say “Well done” for saying Sorry, but it doesn’t take away the fact thousands of kids were attacked in a sexual way and abused and killed by people they trusted, supposed men of God. For me many people wo are in the Catholic Church are evil, you can’t be human and do this. Don’t forget the 4,000 reported sexual attacks on kids to the Vatican in the last 10 year or so, I ask how high is this number really. I chatted with a Catholic early this morning about this who, to be fair was more annoyed at me than the TRUTH! He says “This happens all over the World” Basically he was trying to defend this from the Catholic Church. I am all for people having faith, but how can you have faith on a Peadophile ring that is in parts of the Catholic Church?

Pope Francis has asked for forgiveness for the damage done by Roman Catholic priests who abused children.

According to Vatican Radio, the Pope told members of a children’s rights group he felt “compelled… to personally ask for forgiveness for the damage they have done for having sexually abused children”.

He said that members of the clergy who had molested young children were “quite a few in number”.

The Pope said: “The Church is aware of this damage.”

He added: “It is personal, moral damage carried out by men of the Church and we will not take one step backward with regards to how we will deal with this problem and the sanctions that must be imposed.

“On the contrary, I think we must be even stronger. You don’t play around with the lives of children.”

The Vatican says the Church has begun enforcing prevention and detection measures to eradicate abuse, however the success of these measures is said to vary widely between countries.

Thousands of abuse claims, dating back decades, have come to light in recent years.

The Church’s handling of the allegations has been a subject of controversy with frequent reports of cases being covered up.

Pope Francis has also faced personal criticism for not taking a tough enough stand on the issue.

In February a UN committee released the findings of a month-long investigation into clerics “involved in the abuse of tens of thousands of children worldwide”.

It raised concerns that sexual abusers were moved from parish to parish or across borders and that there was a “code of silence” among the clergy.

The UN committee urged the Holy See to share information on all cases of abuse, amid reports the Vatican had declined to provide any data relating to the scandal.

Italy’s bishops pass Vatican-backed rule that child molestation does not have to be reported

Most people in Europe know the truth about why the last Pope resigned and the connection to the Crown and the Vatican. I blogged this a week ago http://shaunynews.wordpress.com/2014/04/04/historic-breaking-news-canada-vatican-crown-guilty-of-genocide/ Now I certainly know for sure the Catholic Church is a monster, many people in my family me included and a hundred+ friends have walked away from the Catholic Church because the police don’t get called when a Priest sexually abuses a kid. And although the UN said they must now tell the police, from the safety of Vatican city laws the decision has been made they don’t have to report to the police. This is sick, perverted and there is NOTHING we can do about it, their own laws in Vatican City protect them. Anyone want to debate me, I have more, but if like most of the people in my real life, you are Catholic, you don’t want to know or see, trust me. But if you do, I will tell. I am now a Freelance Journalist, I tell news you WON’T see on TV , I don’t know about the USA, Australia and elsewhere, but here in Europe and the UK we all know the truth, 100% we do

The story connecting the Catholic Church, The Vatican, Child sex and Beastuality is real and adds up. Should I blog what I have I am in trouble. The video below is by a VERY WELL Respected You Tube alternative media lad, Daboo7, he is American and actually visits sites where proof shows things. Watch the video, don’t be ignorant. My family are Catholic, they see me write this I am a bad boy, but what do I do, I promised to tell the truth, no matter what. Sadly Catholics will deny even though the proof is there.

Italy’s bishops have adopted a policy, with backing from the Vatican, that states they are not obliged to inform police officers if they suspect a child has been molested. The Italian Bishops’ Conference said the guidelines published on Friday reflected suggestions from the Vatican’s office that handles sex abuse investigations. Victims have denounced how bishops systematically covered up abuse by moving priests while keeping prosecutors in the dark. Only in 2010 did the Vatican instruct bishops to report abuse to police — but only where required by law. Italian guidelines cite a 1985 treaty between the Vatican and Italy stipulating that clergy aren’t obliged to tell magistrates about information obtained through their religious ministry. The guidelines remind bishops, however, they have a ”moral duty“ to contribute to the common good.

The ruling comes less than a week after Pope Francis appointed a former child victim as one of the first members of a new commission to help the Catholic Church put an end to clerical sexual abuse. A UN report published in March blasted what it called the Vatican’s code of silence” around abusive priests. UN children’s rights experts estimate “tens of thousands of children worldwide” have been sexually abused by predatory clerics as a result of moving, rather than reporting, paedophiles. Speaking to Il Corriere della Sera, Pope Francis said at the time: “The Catholic Church is perhaps the only public institution to have acted with transparency and responsibility. “No-one else has done more. Yet the Church is the only one to have been attacked.”

#AceWorldNews says that Pope Francis has defended the Church’s record on tackling the sexual abuse of children by priests, saying in an interview published Wednesday that “no-one else has done more” to root out paedophilia.

“The Catholic Church is perhaps the only public institution to have acted with transparency and responsibility. No-one else has done more.

Yet the Church is the only one to have been attacked,” he said in an interview with Il Corriere della Sera daily.

“Catholic Church labels `Government Social Reform’ a Disgrace and is Leaving People Destitute”

#AceUKNews says according to BBC News the leader of the Catholic Church in England and Wales has labelled the government’s social reform a “disgrace” for leaving people facing “destitution”.

Cardinal-designate Vincent Nichols said the “basic safety net” for the poorest families had been “torn apart”.

The Archbishop of Westminster claimed there was now a “real dramatic crisis”.

The government responded by saying welfare reforms will “transform the lives” of the poorest families.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Archbishop Nichols, the most senior Roman Catholic cleric in England and Wales, said the welfare state was becoming “more punitive”.

#UN : `Demands that the `Vatican Immediately Removes’ all `Clergy’ under `Rights of the Child’

#AceNewsServices says time for `Rights of the Child ‘ to be Heard’

UN Rights of ChildThe United Nations demanded on Wednesday that the Vatican “immediately remove” all clergy who are known or suspected child abusers and turn them over to civil authorities, in an unprecedented and scathing report.

The UN watchdog for children’s rights said the Holy See should also hand over its archives on sexual abuse of tens of thousands of children so that culprits, as well as “those who concealed their crimes”, could be held accountable.

The watchdog’s exceptionally blunt paper – the most far-reaching critique of the Church hierarchy by the world body – followed its public grilling of Vatican officials last month.

“The Committee is gravely concerned that the Holy See has not acknowledged the extent of the crimes committed, has not taken the necessary measures to address cases of child sexual abuse and to protect children, and has adopted policies and practices which have led to the continuation of the abuse by and the impunity of the perpetrators,” the report said.

The Vatican was expected to issue a statement on the report later on Wednesday.

Rights of a ChildThe UN committee on the Rights of the Child said the Catholic Church had not yet taken measures to prevent a repeat of cases such as Ireland’s Magdalene laundries scandal, where girls were arbitrarily placed in conditions of forced labour.

It called for an internal investigation of the laundries and similar institutions so that whose who were responsible could be prosecuted and that “full compensation be paid to the victims and their families”.

A commission created by Pope Francis in December should investigate all cases of child sexual abuse “as well as the conduct of the Catholic hierarchy in dealing with them,” the report said.

Abusers had been moved from parish to parish or other countries “in an attempt to cover-up such crimes,” it added.

“Due to a code of silence imposed on all members of the clergy under penalty of excommunication, cases of child sexual abuse have hardly ever been reported to the law enforcement authorities in the countries where such crimes occurred,” the UN body said.

At a public session last month, the committee pushed Vatican delegates to reveal the scope of the decades-long sexual abuse of minors by Roman Catholic priests that Pope Francis called “the shame of the Church”.

The Holy See’s delegation, answering questions from an international rights panel for the first time since the scandals broke more than two decades ago, denied allegations of a Vatican cover-up and said it had set clear guidelines to protect children from predator priests.

#Scotland ” Government Votes to `Allow Same Sex-Marriages’ though `Bill Faced Opposition’ from `Catholic and Presbyterian’ Church’s”

#AceUKNews says Scotland voted Tuesday to allow same-sex marriages, making it the 17th country to approve gay marriage.
The Scottish government called the bill – which was passed overwhelmingly by parliament – a major step for equal rights. Same-sex wedding ceremonies will begin later this year, Reuters reported.
The bill faced opposition from the Scottish Catholic Church and the Presbyterian Church of Scotland, though the law will not require either to wed same-sex couples on their premises.

Malaysia: ” Only Muslims Able to Call `God’ by the Name of `Allah’ so says their King”

Only Muslims can use the word Allah to refer to God, the Malaysian King has declared adding fuel to the long-running dispute and raising questions over rights of religious minorities in the country where Islam is followed by about 60 % of the population.

Intervening in the dispute for the first time, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah urged Sunday representatives of all other communities to respect Muslims’ exclusive right in order to maintain stability and harmony in Malaysia.

In the context of a pluralistic society, religious sensitivities especially related to Islam as the religion of the federation should be respected,” the King said in a speech, cited by Malaysian state news agency Bernama.

Confusion and controversy can be averted if there is adherence to the provisions of the law and judicial decisions,” he added.

The term ‘Allah’ came to the language used by the nation’s dominant Malay ethnic group from Arabic and is used to describe ‘God’ by people of all faiths.

Sultan Abdul Halim, 86, is one of the nine sultans who take turns every five years to serve as head of state.

The king’s role in Malaysia is largely ceremonial and his powers are limited. However, he is considered a defender of Islam and enjoys the respect of the Muslim population.

Sultan Abdul Halim recalled that back in 1986 the National Fatwa Council ruled that several words, including Allah, could be used by Muslims only, writes New Straits Times.

But even though fatwas, or rulings, by clerics are followed by many of Malaysia’s Muslims, they are not legally binding. Two years later, in 1988, the restriction on the use of a bunch of words was passed into law by the Barisan National regime. The enactment, many argue, violates the country’s constitution that guarantees equal rights to all the citizens.

In October last year, the ban on the use of ‘Allah’ by non-Muslims was supported by a court. Three Muslim judges in Malaysia’s appeals court voted unanimously to overturn a 2009 ruling by a lower court that allowed the Malay-language version of the Catholic newspaper, The Herald, to use the word Allah to refer to God.

The Federal Court, which will hear the case on February 24 to decide on whether it would hear an appeal by the Catholic Church, reports The Malaysian Insider.

The October court verdict prompted protests by both Catholics – who say their rights are violated – and Muslims who demand the rule is followed by representatives of other religions.

Deepening the tensions even further, in November the Senator of the Malaysian state of Selangor issued a decree last November prohibiting non-Muslims from referring to God as “Allah”. On January 3, Selangor’s religious authorities moved to enforce the decree and seized over 300 Malay Bibles from a Christian group.

Christians make up about 9 per cent of the country’s 29-million population. It is the third largest religious group in Malaysia after Buddhists.

UN: ” Vatican and the `Rights of a Child` in Today’s World”

#AceWorldNews says UNITED NATIONS – last Thursday in Geneva a panel from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, in an open hearing televised live on the Internet, grilled Vatican officials over the handling of cases of sex abuse by clergy, while neglecting to reference the many different sex scandals involving U.N. personnel that have plagued the organization for decades.

Pope Meets with UN 2013Bishop Charles Scicluna, the Vatican official responsible for prosecuting clergy accused of sex crimes over 10 years, from 2002 until 2012, explained to the U.N. panel that it is not the policy of the Holy See to cover up sex crimes committed by the clergy.

Archbishop Silvano Tomasi cautioned the U.N. panel that the legal jurisdiction of the Vatican to punish clergy criminally was often trumped by criminal laws within the jurisdiction in which the accused clergy resided.

Rights of a ChildThe Vatican ratified the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990, but did not submit any reports until 2012, when the Vatican reported it was aware of 612 new cases of sexual abuse charges in 2012, 418 of which involved minors.

Since the 1970s, sex abuse scandals involving clergy have cost the Vatican a loss of credibility across the globe, with accusations the Holy See’s reaction until recently has been to shuffle the accused clergy to another diocese or assignment in an effort to cover up rather than prosecute the crime.

Pope Francis copes with sex-abuse scandal

In December 2013, after refusing a U.N. request for information on alleged sexual abuse cases involving the clergyPope Francis announced through Cardinal Sean O’Malley, the archbishop of Boston, the decision by the Vatican to set up a child sex-abuse committee involving a panel of experts charged with producing guidance of conduct for Catholic clergy and church officials.

In 2002, Cardinal Bernard Francis Law, then the archbishop of Boston, was forced to resign after accusations of sexual misconduct by priests in the Archdiocese of Boston. The resignation was triggered by particularly sensational accusations of child molestation involving Father John Geoghan tracing back to 1984 that resulted in Geoghan’s criminal conviction for indecent assault and battery on a 10-year-old boy.

Pope Francis raised further questions about the Vatican’s sincerity in prosecuting clergy accused of sex abuse when Law was given an appointment as archpriest at the prestigious Basilica of St. Maria Major in Rome.

Last Thursday, howeverin a particularly blunt homily delivered at a Vatican Mass, Pope Francis explained scandals in the Catholic Church happen because there is no living relationship with God and his Word, thus corrupt priests, instead of giving “the Bread of Life,” give a poisoned message to the faithful.

Pope Francis Radio Homily“But are we ashamed?” Pope Francis asked in the homily broadcast by Vatican Radio.

“So many scandals that I do not want to mention individually, but all of us know … we know where they are! Scandals, some who charged a lot of money [to] the shame of the Church! But are we all ashamed of those scandals, of those failings of priests, bishops, laity? Where was the Word of God in those scandals; where was the Word of God in those men and in those women? They did not have a relationship with God! They had a position in the Church, a position of power, even of comfort. But the Word of God, no!”

On Friday, the Associated Press reported Pope Benedict XVI defrocked nearly 400 priests in 2011 and 2012 for molesting children.

In a document prepared for release to the U.N., the Vatican confirmed a dramatic increase over the 171 priests removed in 2008 and 2009 for alleged sexual abuse.

The AP acknowledged “a remarkable evolution in the Holy See’s in-house procedures to discipline paedophiles since 2001,” when thenCardinal Joseph Ratzinger [subsequently elected Pope Benedict XVI] ordered bishops to send to Rome for review all cases of priests credibly accused of sexual abuse.

Et tu, U.N.?

Yet even as the Vatican is making strides to explain to the U.N. its efforts to clean house of sexual abuse, the international body head quartered in New York has its own skeletons in the closet.

On March 13, 2005, for example, Washington Post staff writer Colum Lynch reported “a culture of sexual permissiveness” has plagued U.N. peacekeeping operations worldwide for the past 12 years.

“The reports of sexual abuse have come from U.N. officials, internal U.N. documents and local and international human rights organizations that have tracked the issue,” Lynch wrote. “Some U.N. officials and outside observers say there have been cases of abuse in almost every U.N. mission, including operations in Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone and Kosovo.”

Meeting of MindsOn May 8, 2006, the BBC reported a widespread scandal in which UN peacekeepers were demanding “sex for aid” from girls as young as 8 years old in Liberia.

In 2008, an international scandal developed when U.N. peacekeepers in Haiti were involved in gang-rape charges in the Ivory Coast, and in 2011, Uruguayan President Jose Mujica apologized to Haitian President Michel Martelly over the alleged rape of an 18-year-old Haitian man by Uruguayan U.N. peacekeeping troops then in Haiti.

Despite a U.N. “zero tolerance” policy toward sexual abuse announced in 2003, the U.N. has focused serious attention on addressing sex crimes among more than 120,000 personnel deployed in 16 different peacekeeping missions globally, the New York Times reported in 2011.

“What do we do when those we entrust with our greatest hopes betray that trust?” asked Gerald Caplan writing in The Globe and Mail published in Canada on Aug. 3, 2012. “If the betrayers are United Nations peacekeepers, the answer seems to be nothing at all. There is distressing new evidence, most of it reported here for the first time, that foreign soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo can sexually and violently violate young girls with impunity so long as they wear that iconic blue beret or blue helmet.”

MaliIn 2013, the United Nations acknowledged in what appears to be a continuing problem for the U.N. worldwide its peacekeeping mission in Mali had received allegations of serious misconduct by its peacekeeping troops then in Mali, including an alleged incident of sexual abuse.

“The secretary-general is treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and, in line with established procedure, is in the process of notifying the troop-contributing countries,” Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s spokesman, Martin Nesirky, told a news briefing in New York on Sept. 22, 2013, in reference to the sexual abuse allegations against U.N. peacekeepers in Mali.

“No Extra Hearing’s as Belgium’s Child Euthanasia Bill Sent to Vote”

#AceNewsServices says you may or may not agree with this bill ,but one thing l have learned in all my years, is if we allow a bill through where any parliamentary changes are required, it does not matter about the fact it contains certain limitations, as in 2002 in this case. Whereby it cover only adults, someone somewhere will want to play God, and find a reason through their own pain or suffering to add even more changes, such as this one where by it allows “Lawful Killing of Children” – God Helps Us All – in the future, with people like this!

Recent Changes in Euthanasia 2014

The past few days there has been calls for extra hearings before sending Belgium’s Child Euthanasia Bill for a final parliamentary vote have been rejected by a Judiciary Committee, Euronews reported. The way is now clear for the legislation to be passed to the lower house for consideration and a vote before May. The Senate last week voted 50-17 that euthanasia should be legal for children suffering from a terminal illness that is causing severe physical pain. Belgium could become the first nation in the world to lift all age restrictions for euthanasia. Euthanasia for adults was legalized in the country in 2002.

Belgium Euthanasia Law in Effect

 September 2002

Here is how it came into being starting on Monday, Belgian law allows doctors to help kill patients who, during a terminal illness, express a wish to hasten their own death. Having passed the law in May, Belgium is now the third jurisdiction after the Netherlands (April 1, 2002) and the state of Oregon (1997) to legalize euthanasia.

Senator Philippe Mahoux, a Socialist, helped draft the law, which he views as “recognition” that a dying patient in “constant and unbearable physical or psychological pain” should be “the only judge of their quality of life and the dignity of their last moments,” ignoring the fact that palliative care has advanced to the point where such illness need no longer be accompanied by physical suffering.

Belgium’s bishops tried to explain why the Catholic Church opposes the law, saying: “It is based on the idea that the value and dignity of a human being is no longer linked to the fact of his existence, but rather to his so-called ‘quality of life’.” In the future, patients who are very ill are certain to face pressure (from relatives and hospital staff) to view themselves as a burden that should be eliminated. Conservative opposition parties voted against the bill last May, with the Flemish Christian Democrats vowing to challenge the law in the European Court of Human Rights.
