#AceWorldNews – YEMEN – Dec.08 – A boat with Ethiopian migrants sank near the entrance to the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen, and 70 people have drowned, AFP reported, citing the Yemeni Interior Ministry.
The boat capsized in bad weather off the port city of Al-Makha, near the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb, the ministry said on Sunday.
Thousands of people fleeing countries in the Horn of Africa try to reach Yemen in the hope of making their way on to Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf.

The report went onto to say that the accident on the a ferry on the White Nile river, happened whilst people were fleeing the fighting in the city of Malakal. “The drowned include both women and children.
The boat was overloaded,” army spokesman Philip Aguer told reporters. “They all drowned. They were fleeing the fighting that broke out again in Malakal.”
More than 1,000 people have been killed, while 230,000 have been forced from their homes over the past three weeks of fighting between government forces and those loyal to sacked Vice President Riek Machar.
