The explosion occurred in a predominantly Shiite area near the Iranian cultural centre and the Kuwaiti Embassy, according to the Lebanon-based Al-Mayadeen TV.
Six people were reportedly wounded.

Two car bombs were behind the blasts that killed five and wounded 80 others, police said.
The group, on its Twitter feed, also claimed responsibility for the November-19 twin suicide attack targeting the Iranian Embassy that killed dozens, including an Iranian official.
