The Israeli security cabinet has agreed to a truce with Palestinian militant movement Hamas after discussions in Egypt. There was no immediate confirmation from Hamas or affiliated groups that they would support a ceasefire.
Three mortar shells have been fired from Gaza after Israeli authorities and Hamas agreed to a humanitarian ceasefire, said Israel’s military. Earlier, Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that two rockets from Gaza fell on the territory of southern Israel two hours after the truce began. The rockets caused no injuries or damages, he added.
