On Sunday, the MET said: “As a matter of procedure, MPS officers reviewed a document released in August 2021 as part of a US civil action. This review has concluded and we are taking no further action.”

Ms Giuffre, 38, claims she was sexually assaulted by the prince at three locations – London, New York and on Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean.

Her case claims Prince Andrew engaged in sexual acts without Ms Giuffre’s consent, including when she was 17.

The Met also confirmed it had completed its review into allegations reported in June by broadcaster Channel 4 News that British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend, trafficked, groomed and abused women and girls in the UK.

The force said it had “reviewed information passed to us by a media organisation in June” and decided that “no further action will be taken”.

In August 2019, US financier Epstein was found dead in his cell in New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center.

(NEW YORK) JUST IN: A US woman who alleges she was brought to the UK aged 17 to have sex with the Duke of York has filed a civil case claiming he abused her #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Aug.10: Virginia Giuffre, who was an accuser of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, claims she was sexually assaulted by Prince Andrew in London and New York.

#AceDailyNews says Virginia Giuffre the Prince Andrew accuser files civil case in US under ‘Child’s Victims Act’ ….Speaking about Ms Giuffre’s allegations in 2019, Prince Andrew said they “never happened”.

Prince Andrew, 61, has consistently denied Ms Giuffre’s claims.

Ms Giuffre’s case cites New York’s Child Victims Act, which expanded victims’ rights to sue alleged abusers.

The case claims the prince engaged in sexual acts without her consent, knowing how old she was and “that she was a sex-trafficking victim”.

It says the “extreme and outrageous conduct” continues to cause Ms Giuffre, now 38, “significant emotional and psychological distress and harm”.

“In this country no person, whether president or prince, is above the law, and no person, no matter how powerless or vulnerable, can be deprived of the law’s protection,” the documents read.

“Twenty years ago Prince Andrew’s wealth, power, position, and connections enabled him to abuse a frightened, vulnerable child with no one there to protect her. It is long past the time for him to be held to account.”

“It didn’t happen. I can absolutely categorically tell you it never happened. I have no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever,” he told BBC Newsnight.Prince Andrew said in 2019 that he could not recall any incident involving Virginia Roberts.

In a later statement, Prince Andrew said: “I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein.

“His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.

“I can only hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives. Of course, I am willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, if required.”

ReutersMs Giuffre implored the British public to “stand beside her” in an interview with Panorama in 2019

The new legal complaint alleges that the prince and his representatives have rejected requests to provide “whatever facts, context or explanation he might have, and to explore alternative dispute resolution approaches”.

The BBC has contacted Buckingham Palace and Prince Andrew’s representatives for comment.

What is the Child Victims Act?

New York State’s Child Victims Act was signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2019.It allowed survivors of childhood sexual abuse to file a case which had already been time-barred or expired, and gave them a year to do so.That one-year window was then extended because of disruption to court services during the pandemic and ends this week, on 14 August.Mr Cuomo called it a “pathway to justice” for people who allege they were abused when under-age and was intended to help “right wrongs that went unacknowledged and unpunished”.

The case alleges the prince sexually abused Ms Giuffre – then known as Virginia Roberts – at the London home of Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, and at Epstein’s homes in Manhattan and Little St James in the US Virgin Islands.Ms Maxwell has pleaded not guilty to federal charges that she conspired with Epstein in the abuse of four under-age girls. She is due to stand trial in November.

Citing sources who are familiar with the couple as well as documents obtained, The Journal claimed that Melinda, 56, has been working with lawyers from ‘several firms’ for more than 18 months.

The revelation comes after Bill and Melinda announced on Twitter last Monday that they are getting divorced. The couple, who have three children together, said: ‘After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.’

According to one source, who is a former employee of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a key concern of Melinda’s when she began legal consultation was her husband’s association with Epstein, the Journal reported.

The outlet claims that Melinda and her advisers held several calls in October 2019, which is when Bill’s reported late-night meetings with Epstein were first revealed.

A spokesperson for Bill at the time said that the meetings were to discuss ‘philanthropy’ and that he regretted ever becoming associated with Epstein. According to The Times, Bill met Epstein at least three times at his Manhattan townhouse beginning in 2011.

A former employee of the Gates’ told The Journal that Melinda first expressed her discomfort with Epstein after she and her husband met the 66-year-old in 2013.

By March 2020, the couple were already discussing how they would go about dividing their incredible wealth, The Journal added. Melinda Gates’s legal team includes Robert Stephan Cohen, who also represented Michael Bloomberg and Ivana Trump in their respective divorces.

The May 3 divorce filings show how the couple have agreed to separate their assets according to a separation contract. Their joint assets include a $131million home compound in Washington state, a rare Leonardo da Vinci notebook, and investments in Microsoft and Four Seasons Hotels.
