#AceWorldNews – POLAND – April 04 – Customs officers seized 150kg of heroin hidden in a truck crossing into Poland from Ukraine on Friday, Polish authorities said.
The drugs were wrapped in 300 plastic bags hidden beneath the trailer floor of the truck, which tried to cross into Poland near the town of Medyka at about 0200 GMT, Reuters reported.
This is one of the biggest heroin busts in Europe for years.
TASS – According to representatives of the Polish Finance Ministry, this is the largest consignment of heavy drugs confiscated in Poland over a period of seven years. Its approximate cost on the black market may come to around $10 million.
#AceWorldNews – SIMFEROPOL – April 02 – Hemp and Poppy fields in Crimea will be destroyed, head of the Russian Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN) Viktor Ivanov told ITAR-TASS on Wednesday after a visiting session of the State Anti-drug Committee.
“The meeting focused on issues related to the organisation of the work aimed at the destruction of the resource base of drug production – hemp and poppy grow here. It has been decided to destroy this resource base,” Ivanov said.
The meeting participants also made a decision to create in the Crimea the Anti-drug Commission that will be headed by the Crimean premier, Sergei Aksyonov.
MOSCOW – March 26 – Recently having banned the use of Methadone as it had become a criminal business in Ukraine. This was just another step closer to banning and removing drugs and drug lords from Crimea.
Ivanov had said its efficacy was not clinically proved, but there was hard statistics showing that the number of deaths from its use in the United States and Great Britain had increased considerably as addiction to methadone is much stronger than that to heroin.
