(FLORIDA) Justice Dept Court Report: A Peruvian national was sentenced to serve 110 months in prison for operating a series of call centers in Peru that defrauded Spanish-speaking U.S. residents by falsely threatening them with arrest, deportation and other legal consequences #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Sept.23: The defendant, along with his co-conspirators, used false statements and threats to obtain money from Spanish-speaking individuals across the United States by falsely telling victims that they were required to accept and pay for English-language courses and other educational products and that failure to do so placed them in legal jeopardy.

#AceDailyNews reports that a Peruvian National Sentenced to Over 9 Years in Prison for Defrauding Thousands of Spanish-Speaking U.S. Immigrants Henrry Adrian Milla Campuzano, 37, from Lima, Peru, pleaded guilty for his role in conspiring to commit mail fraud and wire fraud through two Peruvian call centers that he owned and operated…..

Note: A Spanish version of this press release is available here.

The defendant and his co-conspirators falsely threatened to have their victims arrested and deported in order to collect millions of dollars from victims in South Florida and across the United States. With today’s sentencing in Miami, five defendants have been sentenced to serve substantial terms of incarceration in this matter.

“The Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Branch will pursue and prosecute transnational criminals who defraud vulnerable U.S. consumers,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian M. Boynton of the Justice Department’s Civil Division. “The defendants in this case defrauded immigrants by falsely promising free products to improve their English. In reality, the defendants were luring their victims into a trap of intimidation and fear, leaving them far worse off – with substantial financial losses and, often, emotional scars from these crimes. With today’s sentence, five defendants in this case have been brought to justice, demonstrating that those who prey upon U.S. consumers from abroad cannot do so with impunity.”

“This case demonstrates that the long arm of justice has no limits when it comes to reaching fraudsters who prey on our nation’s most vulnerable populations,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Juan Antonio Gonzalez for the Southern District of Florida.  “We will continue to bring American justice to transnational criminals who use fear tactics and intimidation to steal money from immigrants, seniors and others who live in this country.”

“The U.S. Postal Inspection Service constantly strives to protect our communities from predatory criminals seeking to abuse and exploit the most vulnerable members of our society,” said Inspector in Charge Joseph W. Cronin of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service Miami Division. “This particular case is an example of how postal inspectors will vigorously pursue these types of crime and ensure that the perpetrators will be brought to justice to pay for the crimes they have committed.”

In pleading guilty, Milla admitted that he and his employees falsely claimed to be lawyers, court officials, federal agents and representatives of a so-called “minor crimes court,” which does not exist. The callers falsely threatened victims with court proceedings, negative marks on their credit reports, imprisonment and immigration consequences if they did not immediately pay for the purportedly delivered products and settlement fees.

Milla was the co-owner of the Latinos en Accion and Accion Latino call centers in Lima, Peru. From April 2011 until his arrest in July 2019, he and his co-conspirators called victims, as well as victims’ family members and friends, and fraudulently threatened them with legal consequences if they did not make payments for the purportedly delivered products and settlement fees for English language classes.

Milla was arrested in January 2020 by Peruvian authorities based on a U.S. extradition request. He and four co-defendants were extradited to the Southern District of Florida in October 2020. Those five defendants have now all pleaded guilty and received significant prison sentences from U.S. District Judge Robert N. Scola Jr. In addition to Milla, Jerson Renteria was sentenced to 100 months in prison, and Fernan Huerta, Omar Cuzcano and Evelyng Milla were each sentenced to serve 90 months in prison.

Two additional defendants in the case – Carlos Espinoza Huerta and Josmell Espinoza Huerta – evaded arrest at the time of their co-defendants’ arrests. They were subsequently located in Peru and extradited to the United States on June 25, and are being detained at the Federal Detention Center in Miami. Their trial is scheduled to begin on Feb. 14, 2022, before Judge Scola.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Civil Division’s Consumer Protection Branch investigated the case. Senior Trial Attorney Phil Toomajian and Trial Attorney Max Goldman of the Consumer Protection Branch are prosecuting the case. The Federal Trade Commission, the Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service and the Peruvian National Police provided critical assistance.

The Consumer Protection Branch coordinates the Department’s Transnational Elder Fraud Strike Force, working with United States Attorney’s Offices and law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute scams run by transnational criminal organizations, including mass mailing, telemarketing and tech support scams. For more information about the Consumer Protection Branch, visit its website at http://www.justice.gov/civil/consumer-protection-branch.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The 23-year-old Vietnamese national was held during a raid on a property in the Handsworth area at around six o’clock this morning (Monday 13 September).

He was detained by NCA officers as he attempted to exit the building out of a window onto a flat roof below.

(MEXICO CITY) HRW REPORT: Has been carrying out mass expulsion of migrants and asylum seekers of various nationalities to a remote area of the jungle in Guatemala, putting lives at risk, Human Rights Watch said today #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Sept.13: Those expelled include families and unaccompanied children, some of whom were first expelled by air from the United States. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and US President Joe Biden should immediately stop these dangerous and unlawful expulsions and ensure that future deportations are carried out in line with Mexican, US, and international law.

#AceDailyNews HRW reports on the ‘Mass Expulsion of Asylum Seekers to Guatemala as Migrants Expelled From US, Mexico Without Due Process’ “For years, the Mexican president has facilitated some of the United States’ most abusive anti-immigration policies. Now he has gone a step further, replicating those abusive policies on Mexico’s own southern border.”

Abandoning vulnerable families in the remote Guatemalan jungle without money, food, or shelter and ignoring their requests for asylum is a new low for President López Obrador,” said José Miguel Vivanco, Americas director at Human Rights Watch. “

In the beginning of August 2021, the United States began expelling some Central American migrants via air to two cities in southern Mexico – Tapachula, Chiapas, and Villahermosa, Tabasco – which are a relatively short drive away from the Guatemalan border.

Also in August, Mexican immigration authorities began busing at least 300 migrants of various nationalities each day, including some expelled from the United States and others apprehended in Mexico, to the Mexican side of the remote El Ceibo border crossing in the Lacandón Jungle. At times, the buses have arrived late at night. The authorities have then forced the migrants to cross the border by foot. Mexican authorities have also expelled groups of migrants this way through the border crossing in Talismán, Chiapas, also on Mexico’s southern border.

Mexican immigration agents have denied many of those expelled the chance to seek asylum and forced them to cross into Guatemala without notifying consular officials or the Guatemalan government. Some have been expelled while waiting on asylum applications in Mexico. Once on the other side of the border, many have had nowhere to sleep and no means of getting to their home countries.

On August 12, US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas toldreporters that the United States was increasing its use of expulsion flights to Mexico’s interior under purported public health authority, to address “recidivism.” He also said the United States was urging Mexico to increase its interception of migrants. Since February the Biden administration has expelled more than 600,000 people at the border under an order issued under the administration of former President Donald Trump to justify expelling asylum seekers during the pandemic without giving them a chance to seek protection.

Some of those expelled have told humanitarian workers in Guatemala they had asked US and Mexican immigration agents for asylum but were told that would not be possible. Others have said they had already applied for or received asylum in Mexico, but that immigration agents told them their Mexican asylum documents were fake or invalid and sometimes confiscated and destroyed them, before detaining and expelling the asylum seekers. Many non-Guatemalans have told aid workers that Mexican immigration agents confiscated their identity documents before expelling them to Guatemala.

Mexican immigration authorities have not coordinated these expulsions with the Guatemalan government; nor notified the Guatemalan, Honduran, or Salvadoran consulates; nor arranged for onward transport. Many of those expelled have been forced to sleep on the street upon arrival in El Ceibo, a remote village of just a few hundred people. The migrant shelter in El Ceibo can house about 30 people. A humanitarian worker said one woman who was expelled said that Mexican immigration agents told her group they were intentionally being taken “to the most remote border crossing” so they would “learn their lesson.”

In a statement on August 17, the Guatemalan Foreign Relations Ministry expressed concern that it had not been notified of the expulsions. It also reiterated that repatriations of Guatemalans should take place through the country’s dedicated Reception Centers in Guatemala City and Tecun Uman.

To corroborate media reports about the expulsions, Human Rights Watch interviewed representatives of Guatemala’s human rights ombudsperson’s office, who have been traveling regularly to El Ceibo and Talismán to witness the expulsions and speak with those expelled. Human Rights Watch also spoke with the head of the Belén migrant shelter, near the El Ceibo crossing, representatives of the Guatemalan immigration authority, representatives from a collective of Mexican migrant rights groups that operate along the border, the Guatemalan children’s organization Refugio de la Niñez, the Guatemalan Red Cross, and consulate staff from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador in Mexico.

Human Rights Watch also reviewed videos and photographs of expulsions and copies of documents provided to the Guatemalan human rights ombudsperson’s office showing that some of those expelled from Mexico had pending asylum applications there. Human Rights Watch asked Mexican immigration authorities for comment but had received no reply as of September 7.

Some of those expelled told shelter workers, journalists, and representatives of Guatemala’s human rights ombudsperson’s office that US or Mexican immigration agents detained them and told them they would be taken to shelters to register their asylum applications. Others said they were told they would be sent to their home countries, which included Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Belize, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala.

Instead, they were flown or taken by bus to Villahermosa, Tabasco, or Tapachula, Chiapas, and from there Mexican immigration agents immediately took them by bus to the border crossing and forced them to walk into Guatemala. Some said they had been given no information at all and did not know where they were being sent until they arrived in Guatemala.

Mexican authorities have been summarily expelling small groups of migrants into Guatemala since at least April, but began mass expulsions of hundreds of migrants at a time in August. Guatemalan immigration authorities said initially they could not register the number of expulsions due to their limited presence at the El Ceibo border crossing, where the vast majority are taking place. On August 22, they sent additional staff and began registering every expulsion.

From August 22 to August 29, they registered 2,061 people, including 564 children. A humanitarian organization providing support at the border has recorded 5 unaccompanied children. Guatemalan immigration authorities are not sure how many migrants have been expelled through Talismán.

As of August 30, Guatemalan immigration authorities had begun coordinating with civil society groups to receive expelled migrants, conduct medical checks, and, in some cases, provide them with onward transport.

Mexican immigration authorities have expelled groups of migrants and asylum seekers into Guatemala through the Talismán-El Carmen border crossing three times in August. On August 9, 10, and 18, migrants were taken via plane from the United States and northern Mexico to Tapachula, Chiapas state. From there, Mexican immigration agents and the National Guard took them by bus to the Talismán-El Carmen border crossing and forced them to walk into Guatemala.

On September 2, the Guatemalan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced it had reached an agreement so that the US government would repatriate Guatemalans via air to Guatemala City. It also announced it had reached an agreement to allow the Mexican government to repatriate Salvadorans and Hondurans to their countries by bus, travelling through Guatemala. On September 4, the Guatemalan immigration authority said in a statement that expulsions from Mexico through El Ceibo would continue for another 30 days. It did not explain whether non-Guatemalans who are expelled by the Mexican government will be given the chance to seek asylum in Mexico. Nor did they explain whether expulsions of asylum seekers other than of those three nationalities will continue. Guatemalan immigration and human rights authorities reported asylum seekers of 10 nationalities expelled to Guatemala. These announcements raise more questions, including whether the Guatemalan government plans to actively participate in these abusive expulsions, Human Rights Watch said.

Under Mexican law, immigration authorities are required to tell anyone in their custody where and why they are being detained, and to provide information in writing about the right to apply for asylum or other regular legal status in Mexico. They also should allow anyone subject to deportation proceedings to speak with their consulate, receive legal advice, communicate with their family, and appeal the deportation decision.

Mexican immigration authorities may only return migrants to their home country – not send them to a third country – and they are required to notify and coordinate with the receiving country’s government and provide transportation, food, and water for returnees until they reach their home country. Finally, they are prohibited from deporting anyone who has requested or been granted asylum in Mexico.

The right to seek asylum is a core principle of international human rights law. Everyone seeking international protection has the right to apply for asylum abroad and to have their case heard before the appropriate authorities. Expelling asylum seekers without allowing them to make their claims violates the Refugee Convention, the Convention against Torture, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the American Convention on Human Rights, all treaties to which Mexico is a party. The American Convention on Human Rights and the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, to which Mexico is a party, also explicitly prohibit collective expulsions.

“The Biden administration promised more humane and fair policies for asylum seekers at US borders,” said Clara Long, US associate director at Human Rights Watch. “Instead, the administration is expelling asylum seekers without giving them a chance to seek protection and is implicated in dangerous Mexican return practices. The Biden administration needs to change course now.”

(LONDON) JUST IN: NCA REPORT: Arrest of three people Thursday evening allegedly involved in ‘Cross-Channel-People-Smuggling-Operation’ & supply of the small boats #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Apr.09: Three people have been arrested following an investigation into the alleged supply of small boats to cross-Channel people smugglers:

NCA Report: ‘Three arrested over alleged supply of boats to cross-Channel people smugglers’

NCA and police jackets

Yesterday evening (8 April) a 33-year-old woman from the Hammersmith area of west London was arrested by the National Crime Agency at a location in Glasgow’

She was taken to Carlisle police station where she was questioned by NCA investigators on suspicion of attempting to facilitate illegal immigration. A property in Hammersmith was also searched. This morning (9 April) she was released under investigation.

Her arrest followed the detention of two UK-based suspects on Wednesday 7 April by officers of the Dutch Royal Marechaussee (KMar) in The Hague, Netherlands.

The pair, a 33-year-old from Hammersmith, and the other a 28-year-old man of no fixed abode, remain in custody and now face potential prosecution by the Dutch authorities. A number of deflated boats were also seized.

The arrests are all linked to an NCA investigation into the sourcing of rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIBs) in the UK and Europe, which are then transported to the Netherlands for storage.

The boats are allegedly then supplied to organised crime groups involved in smuggling people across the English Channel from northern France and Belgium.

NCA Regional Head of Investigation Jacque Beer said: “Smuggling people across the Channel in small boats is extremely hazardous and can have tragic consequences: “ The organised crime groups behind these attempts don’t care about safety or preservation of life, they just see migrants as a commodity to profit from and exploit: “ In our view those who supply them with boats knowing what they are going to be used for are equally as culpable in these criminal enterprises: “ This operation is a demonstration of our determination to disrupt and dismantle people smugglers’ business models at every step, and we are grateful for the assistance of the Dutch authorities.”

NCA Update: A Turkish lorry driver has been charged with assisting illegal immigration, as part of an investigation into people smuggling after 17-migrants were found concealed in the lorry’s trailer, sitting on pallets that had been laid across the load to accommodate them’

Update: 24 March 2021

They were all arrested on suspicion of immigration offences and are being dealt with by the immigration authorities: Zengin is accused of trying to smuggle them out of the UK and into mainland Europe: After being charged he appeared before Wimbledon Magistrates yesterday (23 March), where he was remanded into custody until his next court appearance at Kingston Crown Court on 20 April 2021:

Pallets inside lorry

 21 March 2021

A Turkish lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of people smuggling offences on a motorway slip road, as part of a National Crime Agency investigation.

The 36-year-old was detained after his vehicle was stopped at the M25’s junction with the A3 at around 3.30pm today (Sunday 21 March).

Sixteen migrants were found concealed in the lorry’s trailer, sitting on pallets that had been laid across the load to accommodate them.

They were all arrested on suspicion of immigration offences and will now be dealt with by the immigration authorities. Amongst those held are Moroccan, Algerian and Pakistani nationals.

The M25 anti-clockwise exit slip road had to be closed for a short period of time while the lorry and migrants were dealt with by the NCA and police.

The driver is now being questioned by NCA investigators. He is suspected of planning to move the migrants out of the UK illegally via the Channel ports.

The operation was conducted with the support of the Metropolitan Police and Surrey Police.

NCA branch operations manager Chris Hill said: “ People smuggling networks move migrants in both directions across the border, threatening the security of both the UK and our European neighbours, but also putting lives at risk: “ Working with our partners across UK law enforcement we are determined to do all we can to disrupt those networks. Today’s operation is an example of that in action.”

(WASHINGTON,D.C.) JUST IN: The Biden administration is not requiring FBI fingerprint background checks of caregivers at its rapidly expanding network of emergency sites to hold thousands of immigrant teenagers #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Mar.28: The decision is alarming child welfare experts who say the waiver compromises safety as thousands of unaccompanied child migrants cross the border.

Biden administration waives FBI background checks on caregivers at new migrant facilities: ‘In the rush to get children out of overcrowded and often unsuitable Border Patrol sites, President Joe Biden’s team is turning to a measure used by previous administrations: tent camps, convention centers and other huge facilities’

These facilities are operated by private contractors and funded by U.S. Health and Human Services.

In March alone, the Biden administration announced it will open eight new emergency sites across the Southwest adding 15,000 new beds, more than doubling the size of its existing system.

These emergency sites don’t have to be licensed by state authorities or provide the same services as permanent HHS facilities. They also cost far more, an estimated $775 per child per day.

And to staff the sites quickly, the Biden administration has waived vetting procedures intended to protect minors from potential harm.

Staff and volunteers directly caring for children at new emergency sites don’t have to undergo FBI fingerprint checks, which use criminal databases not accessible to the public and can overcome someone changing their name or using a false identity.

New migrant shelter opens in San Diego to deal with influx

HHS issued a statement Friday saying that direct care staff and volunteers ‘must pass public record criminal background checks.’ Public records checks generally take less time but are reliant on the subject providing correct information.

The agency says those giving direct care are supervised by federal employees or others who have passed fingerprint-based background checks.

‘In the Emergency Intake Sites, HHS is implementing the standards of care used for children in an emergency response setting,’ the agency said.

During former President Donald Trump´s administration, HHS for months did not ensure FBI fingerprint checks or child welfare screenings were done for workers at a large camp in Tornillo, Texas.

An Associated Press investigation in 2018 also found staff at another camp at Homestead, Florida, were not given routine screenings to rule out allegations of child abuse or neglect.

Migrant children and teenagers are processed after entering the site of a temporary holding facility south of Midland, Texas on March 14
The Biden administration is not requiring FBI fingerprint background checks of caregivers at its rapidly expanding network of emergency sites to hold thousands of immigrant teenagers

HHS´ inspector general warned then that FBI fingerprint checks ‘provide a unique safeguard’ over most commercial background checks that search a person´s name.

‘While the various background checks could identify some past criminal convictions or sexual offenses, these checks were not as extensive as the FBI fingerprint background checks,’ the inspector general found.

Laura Nodolf, the district attorney in Midland, Texas, where HHS opened an emergency site this month, said that without fingerprint checks, ‘we truly do not know who the individual is who is providing direct care.’

‘That´s placing the children under care of HHS in the path, potentially, of a sex offender,’ Nodolf said. ‘They are putting these children in a position of becoming potential victims.’

Dr. Amy Cohen, a child psychiatrist who is executive director of the immigration advocacy group Every Last One, noted that HHS requires fingerprint checks of relatives who seek to take in children as part of a vetting process that takes more than 30 days on average.

‘Failure to check fingerprints of frontline facility staff exposes vulnerable migrant children to a significant danger of physical and sexual abuse,’ she said.

The Biden administration has 18,000 children and teenagers in its custody, a figure that has risen almost daily over the last several weeks.

While Biden continues to expel most adults and many families crossing the border, he has declined to reinstate expulsions of unaccompanied immigrant children, which stopped last year after a now-stayed federal court order.

More than 5,000 youths are in border custody, many of them in a South Texas tent facility with limited space, food and access to the outdoors.

But Border Patrol is apprehending hundreds more minors than HHS is releasing every day – a difference of 325 just on Thursday.

At the downtown Dallas convention center, one of HHS’ emergency sites, almost all of its 2,300 beds were filled just one week after it opened this month.

Child advocates say that rather than opening more unlicensed emergency facilities, the administration must speed up placing children with sponsors, especially the approximately 40% of youths in custody who have a parent in the country ready to take them.

HHS has tried to expedite processing of minors in recent weeks, allowing some youths to be placed with parents while fingerprint checks are pending and authorizing the use of government funds to pay for airfare when a child is released.

Ana, the mother of a 17-year-old teen detained in Dallas, told AP said her son fled gangs trying to recruit him in El Salvador and hoped to join her in Virginia.

After an eight-day journey, the teenager crossed the U.S.-Mexico border on March 9. Eight days would pass until she heard from authorities at the border that they had him in custody.

She received a 10-minute call from him on March 20, after he was taken to the Dallas facility. It was the first time she’s spoken to him since he entered the country.

She says she has repeatedly called HHS’ Office of Refugee Resettlement to ask if they would release him to her family, but they have refused, saying they have to process her case. In the meantime, she’s ready to present documentation proving she is his mother and fit to take him.

‘I don´t understand why they are making it so difficult,’ said Ana, who is not being identified by her last name to protect her son´s privacy. ‘I know that we are in a pandemic, but maybe I think that it is that they are behind schedule, that maybe there are a lot of people there.’

Tornillo and Homestead were sharply criticized by Democrats and child welfare experts who warned of the potential trauma of detaining thousands of teenagers without adequate support.

Volunteers from the American Red Cross provided care at the first two emergency HHS sites, a converted camp for oil workers in Midland, Texas, and the Dallas convention center. Those volunteers are now being phased out.

The Red Cross and HHS for several days refused to acknowledge that the volunteers weren´t given FBI fingerprint checks. The Red Cross first said that all of its volunteers underwent background checks when they joined the group. On Tuesday, the group said it was ‘refreshing’ checks on about 300 volunteers sent to care for children and that it had not found any new red flags.

HHS spokesman Mark Weber said he could not yet identify which companies or groups will now step in. The department asked contractors in mid-March to submit bids to provide child care and transportation.

Leecia Welch, an attorney for the nonprofit National Center for Youth Law who monitors the treatment of immigrant children, said lawyers would pay ‘close attention to whether this temporary waiver becomes standard operating practice.’

‘Given the urgency of the current placement crisis, families deserve the same flexibility as the for-profit companies contracting with the federal government,’ she said.

Safety concerns have already been raised about the Midland camp. One official working there noted a lack of new clothes and caseworkers when teenagers initially arrived, and state regulators last week warned that the water on site may not be safe, forcing U.S. authorities to give teens bottles until they could arrange for water deliveries.

Michelle Saenz-Rodriguez, a Dallas-based immigration lawyer, described the Dallas convention center as reminiscent of a barracks but ‘very welcoming.’

She visited the convention center in its first days as a volunteer for Catholic Charities and said that cots for more than 2,000 boys have been placed in socially distanced rows in a ballroom.

After being bused to the site, the boys get clean clothes, a pillow, a blanket and a COVID-19 test, Saenz-Rodriguez said. She saw them last week sitting together at tables, talking and playing card games. Most did not understand why they´d been brought to Dallas or what would happen to them next, she said.

(LONDON) NCA REPORT: A Turkish lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of people smuggling offences on a motorway slip road, on Sunday as part of an investigation #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Mar.23: Sixteen migrants were found concealed in the lorry’s trailer, sitting on pallets that had been laid across the load to accommodate them:

Lorry driver and 16 illegal migrants arrested in NCA operation targeting organised immigration crime: ‘The 36-year-old was detained after his vehicle was stopped at the M25’s junction with the A3 at around 3.30pm today (Sunday 21 March) ‘They were all arrested on suspicion of immigration offences and will now be dealt with by the immigration authorities. Amongst those held are Moroccan, Algerian and Pakistani nationals’

Pallets inside lorry

(SAN ANTONIO) ICE/HSI REPORT: On Wednesday, special agents have filed a criminal complaint charging an Austin man with transporting undocumented immigrants resulting in death #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Mar.19: HSI, in coordination with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP,) are investigating this case. On March 17, Sebastian Tovar, 24, from Austin appeared in federal court and was charged for his role in a conspiracy to transport undocumented immigrants resulting in death.

Austin man charged in connection to the deaths of 8 undocumented immigrants: ‘According to court documents, the federal criminal complaint alleges that on Monday, Tovar was traveling in a maroon pickup truck on FM 2523 near Del Rio when a DPS trooper attempted to stop him for speeding. Tovar failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued. Tovar led the trooper on a chase for approximately 50 miles, at times reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour. Traveling north into the southbound lane on Highway 277, Tovar collided with another vehicle head-on, resulting in the death of eight undocumented immigrants that had been in Tovar’s pickup truck’

The driver and passenger of the vehicle which Tovar collided are hospitalized and in stable condition. Furthermore, the complaint alleges that following the crash, CBP agents on the scene encountered a beige pickup truck stopped in traffic on Highway 277 near the crash site. While agents were directing traffic, multiple occupants jumped out of the beige pickup and fled the scene. Agents subsequently apprehended twelve immigrants who fled that truck. Two of the immigrants both Mexican citizens, confirmed they were part of a failed human smuggling attempt in which the group illegally crossed into the U.S. and were divided between the maroon and beige pickup trucks for transport purposes. Tovar, who remains in federal custody, faces up to life in federal prison upon conviction.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Banister, Western District of Texas, is prosecuting this case.

A criminal complaint is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt. The defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

HSI is the principal investigative arm of DHS and a vital U.S. asset in combatting transnational crime and threats. One of HSI’s top priorities is to protect the public from crimes of victimization, and HSI’s child exploitation investigations program is a central component of this mission set. HSI is recognized as a global leader in this investigative discipline, and is committed to utilizing its vast authorities, international footprint and strong government and non-government partnerships to identify and rescue child victims, identify and apprehend offenders, prevent transnational child sexual abuse, and help make the internet a safer place for children.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. Starting Friday, it has become more expensive for #immigrants to become U.S. citizens than it has been over the past six years – @AceNewsServices

#AceNewsReport – Dec.26: On average, it will cost about 21% more to for immigrants to pay for their applications and petitions.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services says that the paperwork is more expensive now to help pay for making the immigration processing faster. This includes fraud detection, national security costs, case processing, and providing free services to refugees. The application for naturalization will now cost $640; $45 more than it was before.

That may not sound like much, but it can be a hefty amount for immigrants.

“If it does actually expedite that process, then I think that’s a positive thing, because I hear a lot about how backlogged the system gets, and how difficult it can be to get through,” Liam Sullivan of Northampton said.

Citizenship and Immigration Services will offer a reduced filing fee for certain applicants who are qualified for the assistance.

The plan was to roll out new fees in 2012 and 2014, but that was postponed, because the economy was not strong at the time.

SWEDEN: ‘ REINFELDT ANTI-SWEDISH RANT SAYING SWEDEN BELONGS TO IMMIGRANTS NOT THE NATIVE SWEDISH ‘

#AceNewsServices – Featured Post:SWEDEN:Jan.09: On Christmas eve, the Former Prime Minister of Sweden, Fredrik Reinfeldt, came out with an anti-Swedish rant saying that Sweden belongs to the immigrants who move there, not the Native Swedish.

He also said that Sweden’s borders are fictional and the Native Swedish are “uninteresting”.

“There is a choice of which country Sweden will be,” he told TV4.

“Is this a land that is owned by those who have lived here for three or four generations,” he asked, “or is Sweden [a country] where people who come here in mid-life makes it to be and develops it?“

“To me, it is obvious that it should be the latter and that there is a stronger and better society if it will be open [to more immigration].”

He also told TV4 “What is Sweden as a country? Is this a country owned by those who lived here for four generations or those found on any limit?“

“It’s what they [immigrants] do in Sweden that is Sweden.”

In Sweden, if you do not support mass immigration and Swedish areas being deliberately targeted for “diversity“, you are quite literally seen as a “Racist” and “Neo-Nazi”, an enemy to their communist government.

‘ POLITICAL ANALYST LABELS EXECUTIVE ORDER ON IMMIGRATION AN IMPEACHABLE ACT ‘

#AceNewsServices – WASHINGTON – Nov.24 – Political analyst Pat Buchanan has chimed in on the executive immigration uproar, labelling it an “impeachable act,” while there are fresh indications that House Republicans do not intend to act against the order.

Appearing on public affairs program The McLaughlin Group, Buchanan said “He [Obama] is behaving as a rogue president.”

“Politically, it may be a very clever move, he’s divided the Republicans, no doubt about it. He’s sticking it into their face after their victory, he’s saying ‘I’m going to do what I want to do and now you pass your bill.’” Buchanan added.

' BUCHANAN: “ROGUE” OBAMA’S AMNESTY IS “IMPEACHABLE ACT” "We have just taken a monumental step away from republicanism toward Caesarism"

“We have just taken a monumental step away from republicanism toward Caesarism”

“But the problem is, I think he has really poisoned the well with the Republicans for the next two years…I think this is going to be, no doubt about it, along with Obamacare, one of the signal achievements of the Obama administration.” the author stated.

“I think it’s going to backfire on him politically, and I think it’s going to backfire on the Democratic Party.” Buchanan added, also noting that “it’s an impeachable act, but they should not impeach them” because the majority of Americans do not support such a move.

Buchanan reiterated comments he made Thursday when he told Newsmax that Obama “is seizing power that he does not have” and saying “to hell with the Constitution.”

In an op ed, Buchanan also stated that “We have just taken a monumental step away from republicanism toward Caesarism. For this is rule by diktat, the rejection of which sparked the American Revolution.”

In an address Saturday, Obama warned Republicans not to make the immigration action a “dealbreaker” on other issues because “that’s not how our democracy works”.

The White House has declared the executive action, “legally unassailable,” declaring it consistent with the way “President Reagan, President George H.W. Bush and President George W. Bush used their executive authority.”

Meanwhile, House Speaker John Boehner has stated, absent details, that “something will be done” to counter the immigration order.

“We will not stand idle as the president undermines the rule of law in our country and places lives at risk.” Boehner said, adding “He has taken actions that he himself has said are those of a king or an emperor, not an American president.”

However, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn) claims that the GOP leadership actually has no intention of acting against the executive order, telling Breitbart News Saturday that Republicans have been advised “not to engage” on the subject.

“While the country is talking about amnesty, and the president is taking unconstitutional actions, our leadership wants to change the subject and not engage,” she said.

“They acted as though the amnesty issue wasn’t even an issue. They said that the President is going to do what he’s going to do, and we are not going to get down in the mud with him.” Bachmann stated, saying she was “floored” by the reaction. Source:

‘ OBAMA ANNOUNCES PLAN FOR RELIEF FROM DEPORTATION FOR FIVE MILLION IMMIGRANTS ‘

#AceWorldNews – WASHINGTON – Nov.21 – Thousands of immigrant-rights activists, families and elected officials cheered across the country as President Barack Obama announced on television his plan for relief from deportations for about 5 million people AP reported.

But after the initial burst of emotion Thursday evening at hastily organized watch parties and in living rooms, many said Obama’s plan was just the first step in the fight for comprehensive immigration reform.

Immigrant families pointed out the plan would only cover about 5 million of the 11 million without legal status, leaving many families and individuals in limbo.

‘ THE LEAKED OBAMA AMNESTY PLAN & ELIMINATION OF SECURE COMMUNITIES PROGRAM ‘

#AceNewsServices – WASHINGTON – Nov.15 – This post follows on from my previous post here.

' Secure Communities Programme '

‘ Secure Communities Programme ‘

On Nov.13 Fox News shows apparently were filled with excited reporting that they had gotten hold of a 10-part Obama amnesty plan from “a source close to the White House.”

Fox indicated Obama would announce the plan as early as late next week and that major congressional Democratic leaders are cheering the boldness and broadness of it.

According to Fox:

The plan contains 10 initiatives than span everything from boosting border security to improving pay for immigration officers.

The plan calls for expanding deferred action for illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children — but also for the parents of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents.

The plan could allow upwards of 4.5 million illegal immigrant adults with U.S.-born children to stay, according to estimates . . . receive work authorization in the United States, Social Security numbers and government-issued IDs.

Another portion that is sure to cause consternation among anti-”amnesty” lawmakers is a plan to expand deferred action for young people. In June 2012, Obama created such a program for illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children, entered before June 2007 and were under 31 as of June 2012.

The change would expand that to cover anyone who entered before they were 16, and change the cut-off from June 2007 to Jan. 1, 2010. This is estimated to make nearly 300,000 illegal immigrants eligible.

The draft plan obtained by Fox shows Obama granting permanent work permits to an extra 500,000 immigrants apparently for tech jobs.

The plan also calls for elimination of the Secure Communities program which had been one of the few successful programs for removing criminal aliens from the country.

‘ OBAMA POISED TO DELAY DEPORTATIONS FOR PARENTS, SPOUSES OF US CITIZENS ‘

#AceNewsServices – WASHINGTON – Nov.15 – Major changes to immigration policy could be under-way in the United States.

White House administration officials and advocates are reporting that the president will announce unilateral action sometime next week. CCTV America’s Jessica Stone reported this story from Washington, D.C.

Immigration advocate Maru Mora Villalpando came to the United States 22 years ago from Mexico City on a tourist visa and stayed. Though she and her daughter share a close relationship, they do not share U.S. citizenship. She fears deportation and imagines how it would feel to have her “illegal” status lifted.

“I could plan for her future and my future. I think she would be so happy,” she said.

Instead of remaining hidden, Villalpando has become one of a chorus of voices pressuring Washington to pass measures to create a pathway to citizenship for people like her.

“When people say we don’t follow the rules, there are no paths for us to become legalized,” Villalpando said.

White House officials said Obama is poised to circumvent the U.S. Congress, and delay deportations for parents and spouses of U.S. citizens and those brought here before age 16.

EXCLUSIVE: Feds order review of security at all facilities holding illegal immigrant children after two Guatemalan teens escape from Illinois detention center and carjack a 91-year-old Navy veteran

The incident has prompted the federal government to order a security review at all 139 shelters across the country that house illegal immigrant minors, MailOnline can exclusively reveal.

The boys, age 16 and 17, were able to walk away unchallenged from Maryville Academy in Des Plaines, Illinois, outside Chicago, on Wednesday morning and carjack two victims before they were arrested more than 225 miles away outside Iowa City, Iowa, according to authorities.

Police say they targeted an elderly man in Moline, Illinois, who was picking up his prescription at Walmart.

They threatened him with violence, forced him out of his car and then sped off with his Buick LeSabre.

A 225-mile escape plan: Police say the escaped teens, age 16 and 17, were headed for California, where one of them has family

Police tell MaiIOnline they were headed for California, where one of the teens has family.

The teens had been transferred to the Illinois facility after crossing the US-Mexico border as unaccompanied minors and requesting asylum in the United States.

UK: `New Migrant Job-seekers from the European Economic Area (EEA)’ will no longer be able to get`Housing Benefit’ from April 2014″

#AceNewsServices says Press Release New Migrant Job-seekers from the European Economic Area (EEA)' will no longer be able to get Housing Benefit‘ from April 2014.

placeholder

New migrant job-seekers from the European Economic Area (EEA) will no longer be able to get Housing Benefit (HB) from April, Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith announced on (20 January 2014).

The government is determined to cap welfare and reduce immigration as part of Britain’s long-term economic plan and ministers want to make sure the system is fair for hard-working taxpayers.

From the start of April, new EEA job-seekers will no longer be able to access Housing Benefit if they are claiming income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA).

This builds on new rules introduced in January which mean EEA migrants cannot claim income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance until they have been in the country for three months.

Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith said:

As part of the government’s long-term economic plan we have taken action to make sure our economy delivers for people who want to work hard and play by the rules.

These reforms will ensure we have a fair system – one which provides support for genuine workers and job-seekers, but does not allow people to come to our country and take advantage of our benefits system.

The British public are rightly concerned that migrants should contribute to this country, and not be drawn here by the attractiveness of our benefits system.

The Housing Benefit changes do not affect UK and Irish Republic nationals, or EEA migrants genuinely self-employed or in a job. EEA nationals who have worked in the UK, and are subsequently made redundant and claim JSA, will not be affected by this measure.

As part of the government’s long-term economic plan to get people off benefits and into work, a series of reforms have been put in place to make sure migrants wanting to come to this country do everything they can to find a job and stay in work.

Other measures recently introduced include:

From 1 January all EEA job-seekers have to wait for 3 months before they can get income-based JSA. This will make sure that only people who have a clear commitment to the UK and plan to contribute to the economy have access to our welfare system.

After 3 months, job-seekers will also have to take a stronger, more robust Habitual Residence Test if they want to claim income-based JSA.

If they pass the Habitual Residence Test, EEA job-seekers will then only be able to get JSA for 6 months. After 6 months, only those who have a job offer or compelling evidence that they have a genuine chance of finding work will be able to continue claiming.

This week, the government will set out how reforms to welfare and immigration are helping to build a stronger, more competitive, economy that will secure a better future for Britain. Ministers are determined to fix the welfare system to make sure more people can get into work and benefit from the security that a job brings.

UK: “Cameron Says Speak English or Lose Benefits Even if You Are Entitled”

#AceNewsServices says according to the Daily Mail today David Cameron plans to strip ,welfare handouts from immigrants, that refuse to speak English.
His reason’s for wanting to destroy any form of “Welfare Benefits” are clear that his party want to cut ,slash and burn people worse off ,we are at the beginning of that, with his latest raft of measures.
Well now he turns to the immigrants of this country, and wants to find a way to stop them claiming benefits, his idea is to stop printing welfare paperwork in foreign languages, and stop claimants from using tax-payer funded translators at benefit offices.
Of course this is the first step in changing a policy of what has become an open-door policy, to closing our borders to anyone who does not fit!
For many years we have allowed people from other countries to become resident’s and work in job’s that over the past 10 years, many British people would not do, reason being low wages. l know of at least 3 people local to me that earn a measly £2.50 per hour for shop work. One of the places that have many immigrants, including Polish, Romanian and Bulgarians have worked for years, is the hotel and restaurant trade, that would barely survive without them!

Well l say it is one step too far, when we use a language barrier as a way ,to stop people claiming what in many cases could be rightfully their’s.
