KOBANI: ‘ ISLAMIC STATE MILITANTS TAKE CONTROL OF AIR-DROP ZONE ‘

#AceNewsServices – KOBANI – October 23 – Islamic State militants battling for control of the Syrian border city of Kobani ramped up their offensive Thursday, re-taking ground west of the city where the U.S. made a crucial supply drop to Kurdish forces on Monday.

ISIS takes control of air-drop zone outside Kobani

ISIS takes control of air-drop zone outside Kobani

A Fox News crew in the area has been told that ISIS has advanced on three different fronts in the center of Kobani against Kurdish defenders. There is now little open land around the city that the Kurds control, making future airdrops difficult.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Thursday that a unit of 200 Kurdish Peshmerga forces from Iraq will be coming to Kobani to help in the fight against ISIS, but there is no word on when the troops will arrive.

They are reported to bring heavy weaponry and artillery that is sorely needed to push back the militant advances.

An Associated Press journalist on the Turkish side of the border said heavy machine gunfire could be heard from Kobani, which is also known as Ayn Arab, on Thursday.

“The fighting has been ongoing since last night on the eastern and southern fronts. It is some of the longest clashes in Kobani,” said Kurdish activist Farhad Shami by telephone from the town.

“The fighting usually only takes place at night.”

‘ Ali Khamenei Accuses Western Countries of Instigating a Rift Among Muslims by “Creating the ISIS in Iraq and Syria ‘

#AceNewsServices – UNITED STATES (New York) – October 18 – On the day before the most crucial round of Iran’s diplomatic talks with world powers on achieving a solution to the impasse of its nuclear program, Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei has found time again to bash the Western countries involved in the talks by accusing them of instigating a rift among Muslims by “creating the ISIS in Iraq and Syria.”

Behrooz Behbudi, Founder of the Centre for a Democratic Iran, Comments:

Behrooz Behbudi, Founder of the Centre for a Democratic Iran, Comments:

“The evil Britain has created the ISIS and al Qaeda to confront the Islamic republic of Iran and the Islamic awakening across the world,” Khamenei claimed in a speech on Monday.

Khamenei’s paranoia of “the enemy”

Khamenei’s paranoia of “the enemy”

https://soundcloud.com/dr-behrooz-behbudi/khameneis-paranoia-of-the-enemy

“America, Zionism, and especially the veteran expert of spreading divisions – the wicked government of Britain – have sharply increased their efforts of creating divisions between the Sunnis and Shia,” he said.

The speech, marking the Shia Muslim religious holiday of Eid Al Ghadir, was posted on his website, where he has also published video footage showing his recovery from a recent prostate surgery.

The Centre for a Democratic Iran, a non-profit organisation whose mission is to promote and pursue an independent, peaceful and democratic Iran, followed these events with great interest.

CDI Founder, Behrooz Behbudi, offered his thoughts:

“In parallel with every foreign and domestic policy that the self-declared moderate administration of Hassan Rouhani has been taking to get Iran out of the socio-economic calamities that the eight years of Ahmadinejad rule has created, one can clearly see a deliberate hard-line policy by Khamenei to derail a return by Iran and the Iranians to peace and prosperity, however minimal given Rouhani’s allegiance to the regime.

However, Khamenei’s “radicalism” and ranting against Western powers is in fact a facade that is aimed at concealing his political and leadership weaknesses, as well as demonstrating his paranoia about the roots of the problems among the Muslims of the Middle East.

In raging against the US and Britain in his speech Khamenei is deliberately acting as a political player to distance himself from the behind the scene deals that his regime officials are making with world powers, with the help of the Russians as their mediators.

Islamic State is undoubtedly a threat to the peace and security of the Middle Eastern nations as well as the West, as we have watched their barbaric acts with horror on our TV screens.

However, by claiming that “the ISIS has been set up to confront the Islamic republic,” Khamenei – who incidentally refers to himself as the Caliph of Shia Muslims – wants us to forget that a similar type of extremist ideology in the name of Islam has for long actually been practiced by the very regime that he leads in Iran.

Furthermore, it is a well-known fact among Iran’s political forces that Khamenei owes his leadership status more to behind the scene power broking tactics by former president Rafsanjani than anything else, as his credentials as a cleric have never been accepted by Iran’s religious establishment, a complex that he has long concealed by advocating his bankrupted “political Islam”.

Since ascending to power and turning into an absolute religious leader and skilled political player, Khamenei has managed to dominate the political scene of Iran by empowering the Revolutionary Guard, the Basij militias and the security and intelligence organs of the regime around his “anti-American-Israeli” paranoia.

In reality, as world powers begin a new round of negotiations with the Islamic republic over the nuclear issue, they are effectively trying to reach a deal with another fundamentalist “Islamic State” that is ruling Iran with Khamenei at its Caliph in the name of the medieval system of Velayat-e Faqhi, or the Islamic government.

The irony remains however that Western powers are at the same time mulling over whether to involve the military forces of this dictatorship in Iran to help them overthrow the barbarism of the ISIS in its neighboring country in an act of appeasement to Khamenei and his associates in the Revolutionary Guard.

You cannot ask one dictator to join your forces to fight against another dictator in defence of freedom and humanity.

‘ ISLAMIC STATE MILITANTS TRAIN IRAQI PILOTS IN SYRIA ‘

#AceNewsServices – SYRIA – October 17 – Islamic State militants in Syria are training Iraqi pilots who joined the group to fly in three captured fighter jets, Reuters reported citing witnesses.

ISIS Train Iraqi Pilots to Capture Jets

ISIS Train Iraqi Pilots to Capture Jets

“They have trainers, Iraqi officers who were pilots before for [former Iraqi President] Saddam Hussein,” said Rami Abdulrahman, who runs the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). “People saw the flights. They went up many times from the airport.”

The “same resources” have told SOHR activists that the Islamist fighters seized three aircrafts after taking control over the military airports in Aleppo and al Raqqa provinces.

The group has reportedly been flying the planes over a captured Syrian al-Jarrah military airbase in the northern Aleppo province, which was among the areas in Syria seized by islamists this year.

“The training courses are given in the airbase of al-Jarrah known by Kshish airbase too. This airbase located in the eastern countryside of Aleppo and considered the most important camp for IS in Syria,”SOHR said.

The jets “flying at a low altitude over the area”, which witnesses said defined as MiG 21 or MiG 23 models, were captured from the Syrian military. It was not clear whether or not they were equipped with weaponry.

“It is worth mentioning that it is not the first time that the people witness an aircraft flying at a low altitude after taking off from al-Jarrah airbase,” SOHR said.

WASHINGTON: ‘ ISIS OPENS A CONSULATE IN TURKISH CAPITAL AS THE LAST SEAT OF SATAN BEGINS ‘

#AceNewsServices – WASHINGTON – October 17 – Amid increasing doubts about Turkey’s loyalty to its NATO allies, the jihadist group ISIS has opened a consulate in the Turkish capital, according to a Middle East expert who monitors jihadist activity in the region.

The consulate in Ankara, apparently open with the tacit permission of the Turkish government, is issuing visas for those who want to join ISIS in its fight against the Syrian and Iraqi governments, the source said.

The ISIS army, declaring the creation of the first Islamic caliphate since the end of the Ottoman Turkish Empire a century ago, has brutally seized large portions of Syria and Iraq.

Turkey has resisted joining the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS, refusing even to allow the U.S. to use its bases to launch attacks on ISIS targets in Syria or Iraq.

This week, Turkish warplanes and artillery bombed the camps of Kurdish rebels in the southeast of the country, near its borders with Iraq and Syria. U.S.-led coalition bombing has defended Kurds in Syria and Iraq from ISIS attacks. Turkey’s attack was on fighters of the outlawed Kurdish Workers’ Party, or PKK, which historically has sought a portion of Turkey to form the independent country of Kurdistan, along with parts of Syria, Iraq and Iran.

The ISIS consulate is in the Cankaya district of Ankara, operating freely, the Middle East source said, giving the ISIS caliphate the political recognition normally afforded a country.

“Maybe what ISIS is doing serves one way or another in a new caliphate state ruled by the ‘Ottomans,” the WND source said.

While President Obama caters to Turkey’s Erdogan to join the coalition and continues to provide technology to Turkey as a NATO member, sources say the U.S. Congress should act and examine Turkey’s ties to ISIS and its affiliation with jihadi terrorists and those who fund them.

ISIS: ‘ Publicize By Turning The Knife And Releasing New Messages of Emotional Blame ‘

#AceNewsServices – October 14 – The extremists in Syria and Iraq who’ve publicized their gruesome decapitations of four American and British hostages released new messages Sunday from one of the men they murdered as well as from another hostage who has said he may soon suffer the same fate.

' ISIS Twists the Emotional Knife with New Messages '

‘ ISIS Twists the Emotional Knife with New Messages ‘

Both releases show that in the face of a daily dose of western military air power the Islamic State, also called ISIS and ISIL, is determined to pressure the Obama administration over the fate of a dozen or fewer remaining western hostages with emotional twists of the knife for the families of both the living and dead.

' ISIS Preparing to Capture Baghdad Airport '

‘ ISIS Preparing to Capture Baghdad Airport ‘

To Mom, I do not have much time and will probably not get this opportunity again, so I would like to get straight to the point. Your recent public video of pleading to the Caliphate not to kill me has been received loud and clear by them.

However, this in itself is not enough to save me,” began a purported message from American journalist Steven Sotloff, apparently composed before he was beheaded by a masked British killer in a video posted online on Sept. 2.

“You, the caliph, can grant amnesty. I ask you please to release my child,” Shirley Sotloff had said in an Aug. 27 video addressing ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, which he ignored.

DABIQ Magazine

DABIQ Magazine

The full text of Steven Sotloff’s purported letter to his mother was published by ISIS in its on-line magazine Dabiq, released on Sunday.

A Sotloff family representative didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on the “letter” published by ISIS or its authenticity.

The parents of another American hostage who ISIS has said may be executed next, former Army Ranger Abdul-Rahman Kassig, made pleas to al-Baghdadi to spare their son in tweets late last week as well as during a prayer vigil Friday at the Islamic Society of North America in Indianapolis. Paula and Ed Kassig said their son, formerly known as Peter, had converted to Islam while in captivity.

The cruelly agonizing letter by Sotloff — very likely written not by him but by his murderers, officials said — insisted that his fate would be determined by President Obama’s “next judgement,” and said his mother “can still save my life” by not letting the American leader “get away with murder again.”

The solution was simple, Sotloff’s letter argued: “Leave them [ISIS] to fight their own war.”

Meanwhile, ISIS released the latest in a series of “programs” by another hostage, British freelance journalist John Cantlie, who officials believe has been forced by his captors to blame the U.K. government for the video beheadings of his former cellmates.

KOBANI: ‘ Islamic Forces Control Forty Percent of Syrian Town’

#AceWorldNews – KOBANI – October 10 – Islamic State forces have made new gains in Kobani, now controlling about 40 percent of the Syrian town of Kobani on the Turkish border and might well capture it, Deputy US National Security Adviser Tony Blinken has said.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen because again in the absence of any ground force there, it is going to be difficult just through air power to prevent ISIL (IS) from potentially taking over the town,”Blinken told reporters at a briefing in London on Friday.

This information is also confirmed by the the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

“They have taken at least 40 percent (of the town),” the head of the monitoring group, Rami Abdulrahman, said by telephone as reported by Reuters.

Islamic State fighters were now in almost complete control of the “security quarter,” which is home to the administrative buildings used by the local government, he said.

The IS militants have seized control over some of the eastern areas of the town and smaller areas in the south of Kobani, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

They have seized the Kurd headquarters also, a monitoring group said.

“They are trying to advance on the crossing from the east … but the YPG [fighters] are resisting them,”Ocalan Iso, the deputy head of the Kurdish forces defending Kobani, told Reuters.

IRAQ/SYRIA: ‘ Islamic State Fire Bullets Made in America ‘

#AceNewsServices – October 08 – An analysis of cartridges used by Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria shows that their newest ammunition is of American origin. China and the Soviet Union were identified as the biggest sources of munitions, but with bullets made 25 years ago.

The Conflict Armament Research (CAR) group analysed the origin of some 1,700 small-calibre cartridges collected from areas in Syria and Iran where ISIS is operating.

The ammunitions were collected in two locations in northern Syria (Gatash and Avdoké) in July and in two locations in northern Iraq (the Sinjar Mountains and a location between Al Kuweyr and Hawerah) in August.

In both Syria and Iraq, the CAR team closely cooperated with Kurdish Peshmerga self-defence forces, which allowed them to collect material from former Islamic State positions.

image from www.conflictarm.com

Altogether, CAR documented ammunition manufactured in 21 countries, with dates of production ranging from 1945 to 2014.

Most of the ammunition was produced either in the1970’s and 80’s, or in the 2000’s, most commonly manufactured in China, Serbia, Soviet Union/Russia and the US.

Most of the ammunition recovered in Syria is “predominantly of Chinese and Soviet manufacture,” and dates back to the 1970s and 80s. Cartridges collected in Iraq, by comparison, are mainly US-manufactured 5.56 x 45 mm cartridges used in US-supplied M16 and M4 assault rifles. At the time of the US-led occupation of Iraq , the country’s defense and security forces were armed with these weapons.

Nearly 20 percent of all cartridges examined were made in the US during the US occupation, when Washington was boosting Baghdad’s military capabilities following the ouster of Saddam Hussein. For example, cartridges manufactured at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri, were collected from ISIS positions in northern Iraq. The Lake City Army Ammunition Plant is a US government-owned facility operated by Alliant Techsystems (ATK).

“IS forces appear to have acquired a large part of their current arsenal from stocks seized from, or abandoned by, Iraqi defence and security forces,” the report said.

The Islamic State groups in Iraq and Syria are also using Iranian-made ammunition, dated from 2006 to 2013. As the UN Security Council in 2006 prohibited Tehran from exporting ammunition, this discovery could be regarded as a violation of UN Resolution 1737.

The producers of munitions used by the Islamic State are:

image from www.conflictarm.com

The munitions produced in Russia consist of two major types. There is 7.62 x 54R mm ammunition, which is marketed by US-based Sporting Supplies International under the brand name WOLF. These ammunitions produced in Russia used to be widely distributed by the US government to allied states in the region.

There have also been registered standard Russian-made cartridges produced very recently, which could have been obtained by militants from captured Syrian Army military depots.

For example, the Russian-made 7.62 x 54R mm rimmed cartridges employed in PKM-pattern general-purpose machine guns were collected from IS positions and manufactured at the LVE Novosibirsk Cartridge Plant in 2012 and 2013.

Meanwhile, 7.62 x 39 mm ammunition used in Kalashnikov-pattern assault rifles, a type of ammunition found frequently across the Middle East region, accounted for only 5 percent of the cartridges manufactured after 2010.

ISLAMIC STATE: ‘ Jihadist’s Plan to Dominate the World by Stealing Nuclear Technology ‘

#AceNewsServices – October 06  – An alleged policy plan of the Islamic State outlines some chilling, if unrealistic, plots of the would-be terrorist state, including bribing Russia with access to oilfields in exchange for nuclear technology, and digging a canal across the UAE.

ISIS grand plan: Bribe Putin for Iran’s nuclear secrets Isis militants have plans to establish bases across ‘Arab lands’ (AP)

ISIS grand plan: Bribe Putin for Iran’s nuclear secrets
Isis militants have plans to establish bases across ‘Arab lands’ (AP)

The document reported by Britain’s Sunday Times is believed to have been written by Abdullah Ahmed Meshedani, a member of the highly secretive six-man war cabinet of the terrorist group, which wants to build an Islamist state, or caliphate, in parts of Iraq and Syria.

It was captured by Iraqi special forces during a March raid on the home of a senior Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) member and confirmed as authentic by Western security officials.

The 70-point plan provides an insight into the grandiose, if somewhat far-fetched, strategy aimed at undermining Shiites in the Arab world and Iran as that branch of Islam’s powerhouse nation.

One of the goals listed in the documents is to offer Russia access to oilfields in Iraq’s Anbar province in exchange for Moscow severing ties with Tehran and sharing secret nuclear technology known to Iran with the IS.

The bribe is also meant to convince the Russian government to stop supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad and ally with Sunni states of the Arab Gulf in their confrontation with Iran and Syria.

A security source familiar with the document told the newspaper, “Nothing shocks Western governments these days in relation to ISIS and its fanatical aspirations.

We have known and feared  for some time that they want to obtain chemical and nuclear weapons… So when you place their future aspirations against their current achievements, this document which purports to be the group’s manifesto does stop and make you think.”

Another bizarre plan to undermine Iran’s power-base involves building a canal across the United Arab Emirates “like the Panama Canal in America’s hands,” which would allow oil tankers travel to and from the Persian Gulf, bypassing the Iran-controlled Strait of Hormuz, the newspaper reports.

BRITAIN: ‘ Demonstrations in London Against UK’s Part of the US-led Coalition Leading to Alan Henning’s Death ‘

#AceNewsServices – BRITAIN (London) – October 04 – Several hundred people have staged a demonstration in Britain to express their resentment over the country’s involvement in the US-led air-strikes against positions of the ISIL Takfiri militants in Iraq.

'Supporters of the 'Stop the War” coalition and “Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament” march through central London on October 4, 2014, calling for the bombing of Iraq to stop'

‘Supporters of the ‘Stop the War” coalition and “Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament” march through central London on October 4, 2014, calling for the bombing of Iraq to stop’

The demonstrators marched in central London on Saturday, chanting slogans like “Hands off the Middle East, no justice, no peace.” They also held up placards reading “Stop bombing Iraq.”

The march came a day after ISIL terrorists released a grisly video purportedly showing the beheading of British hostage, Alan Henning.

Henning, an English taxi driver, was a member of a group of volunteers that traveled to Syria in December 2013 to distribute food and water to people affected by the country’s war.

According to his co-workers, he was abducted the day after Christmas by masked gunmen.

Britain launched its first air-strikes on positions and assets controlled by the ISIL on September 1; days after the UK parliament approved the use of air raids requested by the Iraqi government.

British anti-war campaigners are worried that the strikes may have a galvanizing effect on the ISIL’s recruitment.

PENTAGON: ‘ Air-Strikes Causing ISIL to Change Tactics

#AceNewsServices – WASHINGTON(Fort Meade) – October 04 – Operations against the so-called Islamic State continue apace with 334 air-strikes against the terror group, Pentagon Press Secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby told reporters at the Pentagon yesterday.

Those air-strikes, the admiral added, are causing the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant to change its tactics.

Kirby briefed on the situation in Iraq and Syria and the coalition that is building against ISIL. He said there have been, to date, 248 airstrikes in Iraq and 86 in Syria.

While U.S. forces are carrying the primary load now, more and more coalition nations are participating.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced yesterday his government has approved airstrikes against ISIL.

The Defence Department has launched a new web page on defense.gov that focuses on the operations against ISIL.

It contains an interactive map which will detail continued air-strikes in Iraq and Syria, including mission objectives, number of air-strikes and aircraft utilized, the admiral said.

New Tactics:

The air-strikes are having an effect and the ISIL terrorists are changing tactics, Kirby said.

“Not surprisingly, they have gotten better at concealment,” the admiral said. “Before the air-strikes … they pretty much had free reign.

They don’t have that free rein any more, because they know we’re watching from the air.”

The terrorists have had to disperse, in part, because of the air-strikes inside Syria against fixed targets — headquarters buildings, command-and-control nodes, finance centres and oil refineries.

ISIL Remains Dangerous:

Though the terrorists are being degraded, they remain a potent and dangerous threat, Kirby said. The group continues to threaten areas in Fallujah and Ramadi in Iraq and areas in Northern Syria on the border with Turkey.

“We expect that they will continue to change their tactics, based on the increasing pressure they’re going to get, not just from the air, but from the ground, with Iraqi security forces,” Kirby said.

And, while the enemy changes, coalition forces will adjust, too, the admiral said.

“Everybody paints them as this great adaptive, capable, agile enemy,” Kirby said. “We’re pretty adaptive, capable and agile ourselves.”

‘ Islamic State Beheads UK Aid Worker Alan Henning – Reports ‘

#AceBreakingNews – October 04 – A new video has surfaced showing Islamic State militants allegedly beheading UK aid worker Alan Henning, the Associated Press reports.

According to AP, the footage shows an Islamic State (ISIS / ISIL) militant murdering Henning before threatening to also kill American Peter Edward Kassig.

“Hi, I’m Alan Henning. Because of our Parliament’s decision to attack the Islamic State, I as a member of the British public will now pay the price for that decision,” he says.

Before ending the video, the Islamic State fighter blames President Barack Obama’s renewed military action in Syria and Iraq for his and other hostages’ deaths.

“Obama, you have started your aerial bombard of Shams [Syria], which keep on striking our people, so it is only right that we strike the next of your people,” the masked militant said, as quoted by AP.

In a statement, President Obama said the US “strongly condemns the brutal murder” of Henning.

“Mr. Henning worked to help improve the lives of the Syrian people and his death is a great loss for them, for his family and the people of the United Kingdom,” he said. “Standing together with a broad coalition of allies and partners, we will continue taking decisive action to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL.”

Both the British Foreign Office and the White House say they are aware of the video, but cannot yet verify whether it is real.

“If true, this is a further disgusting murder. We are offering the family every support possible; they ask to be left alone at this time,” a spokesman for the British Foreign Office told Reuters.

AUSTRALIA: ‘ Canberra Authorizes Boots on the Ground in Iraq Against Islamic State ‘

#AceWorldNews – AUSTRALIA (Canberra) – October 03 – Canberra has authorized deployment of special forces to Iraq to join operation against militants of the Islamic State. From now on, the Australian Air Force craft present in the region will also take part in combat missions against terrorists.

It has only ever been a matter of time that Australia’s 600 military personnel and aircraft deployed to a United Arab Emirates airbase in mid-September would be officially used in military operations against the forces of the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorist organization in Iraq.

Nearly two months after the US-led alliance of European and Persian Gulf nations started to inflict air-strikes on the IS target in Iraq and then Syria, Australia’s Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced in a nationally televised news conference that the country is joining the military operation against the“murderous death cult,” as Abbot put it, in earnest.

“Today, cabinet has authorized Australian airstrikes in Iraq at the request of the Iraqi government and in support of the Iraqi government,” Abbott announced on Friday.

“Also, subject to final legal documentation, cabinet has authorized the deployment of Australian special forces into Iraq to advise and assist Iraqi forces,” he said.

‘ Anonymous Declares CYBER-WAR on Islamic State ‘

#AceNewsServices – October 02 – The “hacktivist” group Anonymous sent this video to News2share on September 21 2014.

The video shows they are, apparently declaring a cyber-war against ISIS, also known as the “Islamic State.” ISIS has been known for its sophisticated digital media campaign, and is estimates to have tens of thousands of social media accounts on-line.

Some members of Anonymous, taking interest in News2share’s reporting on the ISIS issue, reached out anonymously and explained that they intend to wage a cyber-war against ISIS by hacking into and sabotaging their social media accounts and other electronic resources. They then sent this video to us to serve as their press release.

At the end, they promote #OPICE2014, apparently a hashtag trend they’d like to begin. They have also been using #OpIceISIS

The anonymous contributor originally titled the video “Flaming ISIS.” The video itself sports several images seemingly ripped from on-line, as well as several scenes from ISIS’s recent “Flames of War” trailer, which asserted that “flames of war [are] coming soon.”

News2share received this video as a contribution, and in no way should be construed as endorsing or affiliating with Anonymous.

A Ministry of Defense Spokesman (MOD) confirmed on Saturday that “Royal Air Force Tornados continue to fly over Iraq and are now ready to be used in an attack role as and when appropriate targets are identified.”

UK MPs vote overwhelmingly for ISIS airstrikes in Iraq

The spokesman added that no running commentary on the jets’ movements would be forthcoming, but they “are pleased with the response time achieved.”

On Friday, MPs in Britain’s House of Commons voted overwhelmingly to take part in military action against Islamic State (also known ISIS, or ISIL).

The motion proposed by Prime Minister David Cameron’s government was passed overwhelmingly by 524 votes to 43 – a majority of 481.

Britain’s three biggest parties, coalition government partners the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, plus the opposition Labour party, all officially backed the bombing campaign. The government insisted the intervention was legal under international law because it was requested by the Iraqi prime minister.

The spokesman added that no running commentary on the jets’ movements would be forthcoming, but they “are pleased with the response time achieved.”

The government insisted the intervention was legal under international law because it was requested by the Iraqi prime minister.

The measure did not propose any UK involvement in air-strikes in Syria, where a US-Arab coalition began bombing IS militants on Tuesday. A year ago, British MPs rejected air-strikes on Syria to oppose the government of President Bashar Assad.

Cameron told MPs early in Friday’s debate the situation in Syria is more complicated” than Iraq because of its “brutal dictator” President Assad, and the civil war that has been ongoing there for the past three years.

He noted, however, that there was a strong case for attacking IS in Syria, a proposition which both Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and Defense Secretary Michael Fallon have cited as a distinct possibility.

Cameron added that there was no legal barrier” to expanding operations into Syria, though MPs were far from united on such a move.

Shadow Education Minister Rushanara Ali resigned from Labour’s front bench on Friday in order to abstain from voting on the measure.

I am not confident that this military action will be effective in the short term in just targeting the terrorists and not harming innocent civilians,” she wrote in a letter to Labour party leader Ed Miliband.Nor can I pretend to have any confidence that there is a credible long-term strategy to build up the capacity of the Iraqi army or that the potential impact on radicalisation in the UK has been properly thought through.”

She added that while a majority of British Muslims abhorred the actions of IS, there is a widespread belief in both Muslim and non-Muslim communities that military action “will only create further bloodshed and further pain for the people of Iraq.”

Public opinion, however, has turned decidedly in favor of military action following the beheading of British aid worker David Haines.

A poll conducted for The Sun newspaper, published on Friday, showed that 57 percent of UK residents surveyed said they supported bombing ISIS in Iraq, compared to 24 percent who were against the move.

Support for a bombing campaign is up by one-fifth on a similar poll last month.

Asked whether they backed strikes on IS in Syria as well, 51 percent approved of spreading the intervention while 26 percent opposed it. Meanwhile, 43 percent backed sending ground troops to Iraq, or considering sending them there.

Meanwhile, activists from the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that US-led forces had launched airstrikes against Islamic State compounds in the central province of Homs and the northern region of Raqqa on Saturday, AP reports.

The targets included wheat silos west of the eastern city of Deir el-Zour.

WASHINGTON: ‘ True Cost of WAR with ISIS Payable by American Tax-Payers IS? ‘

#AceNewsServices – WASHINGTON September 23 – Every wondered how much ISIS war will cost?

The White House does not have a ballpark figure for how much the war against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) will cost Americans.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Monday he did not have an estimate on how much the administration expected the campaign against ISIS would cost.

“I know that we’re interested in having an open dialogue with Congress to ensure that our military has the resources necessary to carry out the mission that the president has laid out,” he said.

So far, the administration has relied on the Pentagon’s 2014 war funding budget, formally known as Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO), to pay for operations against the terrorist group.

The White House had previously requested cutting OCO funding from $85 billion to $58.6 billion next year, but lawmakers decided to keep funding at current levels in the temporary budget measure passed last week.

The White House also indicated it would seek funding for the effort against ISIS from international partners.

Last month, Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby told reporters that operations in Iraq which included air-strikes, beefed up embassy security and surveillance flights — cost approximately $7.5 million per day.

The U.S. has launched more than 170 air-strikes against ISIS so far, and is conducting around 5 dozen surveillance flights per day. These exclude the ones that have just taken place on this day in Syria.

So the final bill will be …………….. ? and how many 0’s

‘ Kurds Flee Islamic State Crossing Border To Turkey ‘

#AceNewsServices – SYRIA – September 21 – Some 60,000 Syrian Kurds have crossed into Turkey in the past 24 hours, fleeing Islamic State (IS) militants who are advancing on dozens of villages close to the border.

Turkey opened a stretch of the border on Friday after Kurds fled their homes, fearing an attack on the border town of Ayn al-Arab, a Kurdish commander on the ground said.

Local Kurds also said they fear a massacre in Kobani, whose strategic location has been blocking the militants from gaining more power in northern Syria.

“Kobani is facing the fiercest and most barbaric attack in its history,” Mohammed Saleh Muslim, the head of Syria’s powerful Kurdish Democratic Union, told AP.

Lokman Isa, a 34-year-old farmer who escaped with his family, told Reuters: They [Islamic State] have destroyed every place they have gone to. We saw what they did in Iraq in Sinjar and we fled in fear.”

He added that Kurdish forces fighting against the radical group have only light weapons.

The Islamic State militants are  known to be using rockets, artillery, tanks, and armoured vehicles.

“I would have fought to my last drop of blood against Islamic State but I had to bring the women and children,”Mustafa Saleh, a 30 year-old water industry worker, said.
“The United States, Turkey, Russia, friendly countries must help us. They must bomb Islamic State. All they can do is cut off heads, they have nothing to do with Islam,” he added.

Meanwhile, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said that 60,000 people have crossed the 30-kilometre stretch of open border since Friday.

At least 100 villages have been evacuated since Tuesday, when the assault began. Since then, over 300 Kurdish fighters have come to Syria from Turkey to fight against the militants.

Eleven Kurdish civilians, including boys, were executed in the villages near Kobani, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
