#AceWorldNews – Update: SWITZERLAND – Dec.06 – A Swiss man, Lorenzo Vinciguerra, kidnapped by Abu Sayyaf Islamic militants in the southern Philippines nearly three years ago, managed to escape from his abductors and was picked up by soldiers, the military told AFP.

The man is currently being treated for minor injuries at a military hospital, according to Switzerland’s ambassador to the Philippines, Ivo Sieber.

However a Dutchman, Ewold Horn, who was kidnapped with Vinciguerra, when both of them were on an expedition to photograph rare birds on the remote Tawi-Tawi island group in the southern Philippines, appears to still be held by the militants.

The Abu Sayyaf militants, notorious for their brutal terror attacks in the Philippines and for repeated kidnappings of foreigners, swore allegiance to the Islamic State in August.

Two German hostages were successfully released after a negotiations and a possible non-disclosed ransom.

#Yemen : ” Nine People were Reportedly Killed and 14 Soldiers Kidnapped after clash with Gun Men”

#AceWorldNews says nine people were reportedly killed and 14 soldiers kidnapped on Tuesday after a clash between gunmen and Yemeni troops in the southern city of Dalea.

Gunmen attacked a truck carrying food supplies, Reuters reported, citing defence ministry officials.

In the ensuing clash, four soldiers and one officer were killed and 14 others were abducted by the gunmen. Four civilians, including a child, were also killed in the incident, according to witnesses.

Dalea is considered a stronghold for separatists demanding restoration of the former state of South Yemen, which merged with the North in 1990.
