NORTH KOREA: ‘ Kim Jong-Un Disappears Whereabouts Unknown ‘

#AceNewsServices – NORTH KOREA (Pyongyang) – October 08 – North Korea’s portly 31-year-old supreme leader has not been seen in public in more than month at a time when a high-level delegation has made a surprise visit to South Korea in an apparent peace initiative.

His disappearance from public view has stirred rumours of coups, health problems and even a low-grade civil war in the Hermit Kingdom. Though it could be linked to our recent post on his leadership being a puppet government, either way his whereabouts are still unknown.

Kim Jong Un, who succeeded his father Kim Jong Il in 2011, was last seen Sept. 3 attending a music concert with his wife Ri Sol Ju. The state newspaper Rodong Sinmun showed the pair sitting in front-row seats for the performance by an all-girl troupe, the BBC reports.

He was a no-show when the North Korean parliament convened Sept. 26 for its second session of the year. On Tuesday, Kim Jong Un did not attend a national meeting to mark the 17th anniversary of the election of his father as general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the South Korean Yonhap news agency reports.

A recent official documentary only shows footage from August of the North Korean leader limping while commemorating the 20th anniversary of the death of the country’s founder.

The film mentioned he had been feeling “discomfort,” the BBC reports.

His sudden low profile coincides with the surprise visit Saturday by a high-level North Korean delegation to the South Korean port city of Incheon to attend the close of the Asian Games, which included North Korean athletes.

NORTH KOREA: ‘ Counter-Intelligence Officer Claims Kim Jong-Un is Now a Puppet Leader as Pyongyang is Placed in Lock-Down ‘

#AceNewsServices – NORTH KOREA (Pyongyang) – October 04  – A former North Korean counter-intelligence officer has claimed that Kim Jong-Un is no longer in control of the nation and is now just a ‘puppet leader’.

Jang Jin-sung, who used to be an influential officer in Kim Jong-il’s propaganda division, made the sensational assertion at a September conference in Holland attended by several elite exiles, it’s been reported.

The capital, Pyongyang, meanwhile, has been placed into lock-down with even the elite banned from entering or leaving, according to a respected news site. This adds weight to Jin-sung’s claim, as a North Korean expert said that this kind of measure is only put in place when a coup has taken place – or is suspected.

' US Confirms North Korea has Detained a Third American'

#AceWorldNews – WASHINGTON (AFP) – The United States on Friday confirmed that North Korea has detained a third American and called on the communist state to release the trio.

“We are aware that a US citizen has been detained by North Korea,” State Department spokesman Marie Harf told reporters, adding: “We continue to actively seek the release of all three.”

Ms Harf said that she could not confirm the detainee’s name due to privacy considerations.

(The official Korean Central News Agency identified him as Jeffrey Edwards Fowle)

North Korea, which has no diplomatic relations with the United States, said it had detained Fowle for “hostile activities” and was questioning him.

Japanese news agency Kyodo, citing diplomatic sources, said the detainee had been part of a tour group and was held in mid-May after he left a Bible at a hotel.

Kim Jong-Un‘s totalitarian regime tightly controls all religious activity.

Another of the detained Americans, Kenneth Bae, was described by a North Korean court as a militant Christian evangelist.

` North Korea rebuffs refuses ` South’ to hold ` Red Cross’ talks and permit regular reunions of families split by Korean War’

#AceWorldNews says that North Korea has rebuffed a proposal from the South to hold Red Cross talks and debate the conditions that would permit regular reunions of families split up by the 1950-53 Korean War.

The North issued a message to South Korea Thursday declaring that it is not the correct atmosphere to hold such talks, according to Yonhap news agency.

That statement was likely in reference to ongoing military drills in the Asian Pacific.

Earlier this week, North Korea fired at least two SCUD missiles into the ocean as a way of flexing its military muscle in protest against South Korea’s annual military drills with the US.

Pyongyang has also made clear that it is unhappy with leaflets critical of leader Kim Jong-un that were dropped into the isolated nation.

” North Korea and even `Kim Jong-un’ should face `International Justice’ for `Human Rights’ Abuses”

#AceWorldNews says that `North Korean’ security chiefs and possibly even the countries supreme leader, Kim Jong-un himself, should face international justice for ordering systematic torture, starvation and mass killings bordering on genocide, UN investigators said Monday.

The UN Commission of Inquiry told Kim in a letter they were advising the UN to refer North Korea to the International Criminal Court (ICC), to ensure any culprits “including possibly yourself” were held accountable,

Reuters reported. North Korea said it “categorically and totally” rejected the investigators’ report.

#US: ` Letter to Request to Kim Jong-un to Release Kenneth Bae Imprisoned American Missionary’

#AceWorldNews says Four US members of Congress – the last surviving members of Congress to have served in the Korean War – have sent a letter to the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, urging him to release Kenneth Bae, an imprisoned American missionary.
Bae has been held in captivity for more than a year after being sentenced to 15 years hard labour on a charge of trying to overthrow the state, Reuter’s reports.
You have done the right thing by releasing a fellow Korean War veteran, Merrill E. Newman. You would be making further progress on the humanitarian front by freeing Kenneth Bae,” the letter read.
