#AceNewsReport – Oct.26: Fadi Akiki, a representative of the military court, has meanwhile instructed the army intelligence to summon LF leader Samir Geagea and take his statement based on information provided by arrested LF supporters….

#AceDailyNews says according to Naharnet News Desk Report: Ain al-Remmaneh Residents to Sue Nasrallah over ‘Attack’ the residents have prepared “a complete file backed with testimonies, evidence and videos proving that Ain al-Remmaneh came under a deliberate attack,” the daily added….

Seven people were killed on October 14, including five Hizbullah and Amal Movement members, during a protest organized by the two groups to demand Tarek Bitar, the judge investigating Beirut’s devastating port blast, be removed.

Hizbullah and Amal accused the Lebanese Forces party, which supports the probe, of being responsible for sniper fire against the protesters that ignited street clashes. The LF denies the charges.

Twenty-six people were arrested after the violence in the Tayyouneh-Ain al-Remmaneh area, most of them LF supporters. Geagea has denied responsibility for the deaths, saying that residents of Ain al-Remmaneh had “defended” themselves against “Hizbullah militiamen who tried to enter their homes.” He also said that four Ain al-Remmaneh residents were injured at the hands of violent protesters, some by handgun shots, before any rounds were fired from the neighborhood.

(BEIRUT) LATEST: Lebanon’s Hezbollah leader declared for the first time on Monday that his powerful militant group has 100,000 trained fighters #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Oct.21: In the worst street violence the city has seen in years. The confrontation erupted over a long-running probe into last year’s massive port blast in the city…..

#AceDailyNews says according to CBN report Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah disclosed the size of the Shiite group’s militant arm in his first speech since seven people were killed in gunbattles on the streets of Beirut on Thursday —

His speech appeared to be meant as a deterrent to domestic foes following the nation’s worst internal violence in years.

It is difficult to verify the 100,000 fighters figure as Hezbollah is largely secretive. If true, it would be larger than the size of Lebanon’s armed forces, estimated at about 85,000.

The speech came at a time of heightened tension in Lebanon over the clashes and the course of the investigation into the Aug. 4, 2020 blast in which over 215 people were killed.

“We have prepared (those fighters) with their diverse weapons to defend our territory, our oil and gas that is being robbed before the eyes of Lebanese, to protect the dignity and sovereignty of our country from any aggression (and) terrorism and not for internal fighting,” Nasrallah said.

The violence was the worst in more than a decade and stirred memories of Lebanon’s ruinous 1975-90 civil war.

In a statement, Hezbollah and Amal said armed groups affiliated with Samir Geagea’s Christian Lebanese Forces (LF) Party fired at the protesters from rooftops, aiming at their heads, in an attempt to drag the country into new sectarian strife.

Lebanon has been mired since late 2019 in a deep financial crisis, which has pushed more than half the nearly 7 million population into poverty. The dire situation was worsened by more than a year without a fully functioning government in the Mediterranean country.

The US exacerbated the crisis by imposing a siege on Lebanon in a bid to force the formation of a Western-friendly administration there.

(BEIRUT) JUST IN: Armed clashes broke out in Beirut Thursday during a protest against the lead judge investigating last year’s massive blast in the city’s port, as tensions over the domestic probe boiled over ………developing #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Oct.14: Gunfire echoed in the capital, and ambulances rushed to the scene, sirens wailing, amid reports of casualties: The protest outside the Justice Palace was called for by the powerful Hezbollah group and its allies who are demanding the removal of Judge Tarek Bitar…..

#AceDailyNews says according to CP24 report that is taking place now an armed clash has erupted in Beirut in protest against massive blast last year as tensions reach boiling point ….

army, Beirut

It was not immediately clear what triggered the gunfire, but tensions were high along a former civil war front-line between Muslim Shiite and Christian areas. A journalist with The Associated Press saw one man open fire with a pistol during the protest. Another eyewitness said he saw people shooting in the direction of protesters from the balcony of a building.

At least two men were seen injured and bleeding. The army deployed heavily in the area following the shooting.

Hundreds of tons of ammonium nitrates that had been improperly stored at a port warehouse detonated on August 4, 2020, killing at least 215 people, injuring thousands and destroying parts of nearby neighborhoods. It was one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history and has further devastated the country already roiled by political divisions and unprecedented economic and financial meltdown.

Bitar, the second judge to lead the complicated investigation, has come up against formidable opposition from Lebanon’s powerful Hezbollah group and its allies who accuse him of singling out politicians for questioning, most of them allied with Hezbollah.

None of Hezbollah’s officials have so far been charged in the 14-month-old investigation.

The armed clash could derail the country’s month-long government even before it begins tackling Lebanon’s unprecedented economic crisis.

A Cabinet meeting was canceled Wednesday after Hezbollah demanded urgent government action against the judge. One Hezbollah-allied minister said he and other Cabinet members would stage a walkout if Judge Tarek Bitar isn’t removed..

(AL-AIN, Leb.) JUST IN: A convoy of tanker trucks carrying Iranian diesel crossed the border from Syria into Lebanon early Thursday, a delivery organised by the militant Hezbollah group to ease crippling fuel shortages in the crisis-hit country #AceNewsDesk report

#AceDailyNews says that Hezbollah-organized fuel arrives in crisis-hit Lebanon: The delivery violates US sanctions imposed on Tehran after former President Donald Trump pulled America out of a nuclear deal between Iran and world powers three years ago according to Arab News source

http://priceofoil.org/2015/03/30/big-oil-eyes-prize-iran/

September 16, 2021 10:44:

It was portrayed as a victory by Hezbollah, which stepped in to supply the fuel from its patron, Iran, while the cash-strapped government grappled with the fuel shortages for months.
“This is a very big and great thing for us because we broke the siege of America and foreign countries. … We are working with the help of God and our great mother Iran,” said Nabiha Idriss, a Hezbollah supporter who gathered with others to greet the tankers’ convoy as it passed through the eastern town of Al-Ain.

Hezbollah has portrayed the Lebanese economic meltdown, which began in October 2019, as partly caused by an informal siege imposed by America due to the militant group’s power and influence in Lebanon. The group has been sanctioned by consecutive US administrations.

Lebanon’s crisis is rooted in decades of corruption and mismanagement by the ruling class and a sectarian-based political system that thrives on patronage and nepotism. Severe shortages in fuel have paralyzed the country, resulting in crippling power cuts that have disrupted the work of hospitals and bakeries. Just to get gasoline, people must wait hours in line, commonly called, “queues of humiliation.”
Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had announced a month ago that Iran was sending fuel to Lebanon to help ease the crisis. The first Hezbollah-commissioned Iranian oil tanker arrived in the Syrian port of Baniyas on Sunday and the diesel was unloaded to Syrian storage places before it was brought overland to Lebanon on Thursday by tanker truck. The convoy went through an informal border crossing in Qusayr in Syria.

Nasrallah said in a televised speech earlier this week that the tanker did not offload its cargo directly in Lebanon to avoid embarrassing Lebanese authorities and risking sanctions on Lebanon.

Hezbollah, which is often accused by its opponents of operating a state-within-a-state and has been taking part in Syria’s civil war alongside government forces, has its own crossing points along the Lebanon-Syria border away from formal border crossings.

There was no immediate comment from Lebanese or US officials on the Iranian fuel delivery Thursday.
“Don’t forget this day,” tweeted Laury Haytayan, a Lebanese oil and gas expert and activist, describing it as the day Hezbollah won over the Lebanese state.
Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV called it “the tanker truck convoys to break the American siege” adding that 20 tanker trucks each carrying 50,000 liters (13,210 gallons) crossed the border Thursday and were on their way to the eastern Lebanese city of Baalbek where Hezbollah will start distributing the fuel.

The tanker trucks crossed from Syria’s central province of Homs into Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley and were welcomed by residents who gathered on the sides of the main road. Hezbollah’s yellow flags and banners praising the Iran-backed group and Syria’s President Bashar Assad decorated the streets. A few women showered the trucks with rice and flowers as they drove past.

The arrival of the Iranian diesel comes nearly a week after a new government was formed ending a 13-month deadlock. Lebanon’s new Prime Minister Najib Mikati has not commented on the deal to import fuel from Iran.

Nasrallah said earlier this week that the diesel will be donated for a period of one month to institutions including public hospitals, nursing homes, orphanages, water stations and the Lebanese Red Cross. Nasrallah added that others who will get fuel at low prices are private hospitals, medicine and serum factories, bakeries and cooperatives that sell food products: Nasrallah said three other tankers carrying diesel and one carrying gasoline will arrive in the coming weeks.

‘ SENIOR OFFICIAL OF HEZBOLLAH SAYS ISIL GROUP THREAT TO THE ENTIRE WORLD ‘

#AceNewsServices – LEBANON – October 29 – A senior official of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has described the ISIL terrorist group as a threat to the Middle East region and the entire world.

' Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem '

‘ Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem ‘

Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said the ISIL Takfiri militants have launched a campaign of fear and terror to expand the terrorist group’s territory.

Saying that the ISIL terrorists have resorted to extreme forms of brutality, the Hezbollah official added, the Takfiri group, supported by some regional and Western countries, suffers from disunity in its ranks since its terrorists come from about eighty countries

The Hezbollah deputy chief reiterated that the ISIL, which commits atrocities in the name of religion, is the biggest threat to Islam and is disliked by both Shia and Sunni Muslims.

This comes as Lebanon has also been rocked by the spillover of the conflict in Syria caused by Takfiri militant groups.

Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said on October 14 that the Lebanese resistance movement is determined to defeat terrorists and Takfiri militants.

The ISIL terrorists currently control large swathes of territory across Syria and Iraq.

They have committed terrible atrocities in both countries, including mass executions and the beheading of local residents as well as foreign nationals.

LEBANON: ‘ HEZBOLLAH WARN SAUDI ARABIA AGAINST EXECUTING SHIA CLERIC ‘

#AceNewsServices – LEBANON (Beirut)- October 18 – The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has warned Saudi authorities against the execution of prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr.

Free Sheikh Nimr Baqir Al-Nimr

Free Sheikh Nimr Baqir Al-Nimr

In a statement released on Thursday, the Lebanese movement described the sentence handed down to the cleric as unjust and politically motivated.

“This unjust sentence is political par excellence, and reflects the repressive policy adopted by Saudi authorities against a wide segment of citizens. They cannot tolerate free expression and the peaceful struggle of this oppressed segment to achieve their legitimate demands,” the statement read.

Hezbollah also called on Saudi officials to drop the case against Nimr and listen to the legitimate demands of the citizens seeking to obtain the minimum of their rights as recognized by divine religions and the international law.

The Lebanese resistance movement further urged international rights groups to press Riyadh not to kill the top Shiite scholar.

Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr.

On Wednesday, Nimr was sentenced to death at the Specialized Criminal Court in the Saudi capital Riyadh. In reaction to the sentence, people took to streets in the city of Qatif in Eastern Province to condemn the move.

Amnesty International has called the death sentence “appalling,” saying the verdict should be quashed, Press TV reported.

Meanwhile, a group of protesters have staged a rally in Bahrain to express solidarity with the dissident Shiite Muslim cleric in Saudi Arabia. The protesters denounced the Saudi government for issuing Nimr’s death sentence.

Nimr has been given the death sentence on charges of disturbing the kingdom’s security and making anti-government speeches.

He is the Imam of al-Awamiyya mosque in Qatif and has spent most of his two-year detention in solitary confinement at the al-Ha’ir prison in Riyadh, according to Amnesty International.

‘ Leader of Abdullah Azzam Brigades Al-Qaeda Group Calls on Sunnis to Attack Hezbollah ‘

#AceNewsServices – October 15 – The leader of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades (AAB), an al Qaeda-linked group, has called on Sunnis in Lebanon to attack Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed terrorist organization.

Abdullah Azzam Brigades leader calls on Lebanese people to attack Hezbollah

Abdullah Azzam Brigades leader calls on Lebanese people to attack Hezbollah

Sirajeddine Zurayqat, who has been reportedly named the new emir of the AAB, called for the anti-Hezbollah attacks in a series of posts on his official Twitter feed on Oct. 13. The tweets have also been collected into a single statement from the AAB leader.

Zurayqat addresses “our youth in Tripoli,” saying they should strike Hezbollah fighters and positions, not the Lebanese Army. Hezbollah is the “puppet master” behind the Army and Lebanon’s security services, Zurayqat writes, and it is Hezbollah that has turned the government against the nation’s Sunnis.

“Therefore, strike the puppet master and do not get preoccupied with the tools. If the head is broken, the hands become paralyzed,” Zurayqat argues in a tweet translated by The Daily Star. “You have [Hezbollah’s] centers, checkpoints, supply lines, leaders and members across Lebanon.

Kill them and avenge the children of Lebanon and Syria.”

The AAB leader also argues that Hezbollah has been Israel’s “loyal guard” since 1996. He attempts to recast the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel as “nothing more than breaking the rules of engagement.”

By failing to continue with the war, Zurayqat says, Hezbollah has provided international legitimacy for Israel’s existence.

Zurayqat’s words are intended to undermine public perceptions of Hezbollah as an effective anti-Israeli fighting force. Ironically, Iran and other allied groups have done more to fight Israel than the AAB or any other al Qaeda-backed group.

But the AAB and other al Qaeda-allied groups have claimed responsibility for smaller attacks on Israel, including during the conflict this past summer.

Zurayqat’s call to fight Hezbollah is consistent with the anti-Iranian propaganda campaign being waged by the Al Nusrah Front, al Qaeda’s official branch in Syria.

Al Nusrah operates in Lebanon and has called upon Sunnis in the country to rise up against the Lebanese government, Hezbollah and their Iranian-backers.

Both Al Nusrah and the Islamic State, a former branch of al Qaeda, have fought against Lebanese forces and Hezbollah. There are evenpersistent reports indicating that Al Nusrah and the Islamic State have conducted joint operations in Lebanon despite their bitter rivalry in Syria.

In August, Al Nusrah and the Islamic State took a number of Lebanese servicemen hostage, killing several of them after the negotiations to free them stalled. The Al Nusrah Front has blamed Hezbollah and Iran for the failure to reach a deal that would free the captives.

And Al Nusrah has used its hostages in videos that are intended to sway public opinion in Lebanon against the government and Hezbollah.

In September, Zurayqat addressed the Lebanese hostages in an audio recording that was released online. He blamed the men for joining the Lebanese Army, saying “if you fight the Sunnis there is nothing between you and us except the sword.”

According to Al Akhbar, Zurayqat threatened, “The mujahideen took Iraq in days, and in days they can be in the center of Beirut too.”

The AAB has conducted attacks against Iranian interests in Lebanon. In November 2013, the group claimed credit for twin suicide attacks outside of the Iranian embassy in Beirut.

Nearly two dozen people, including an Iranian cultural attache, were killed and more than 150 others were wounded in the blasts.

Earlier on Tuesday, local sources told RIA Novosti that Israel shelled Lebanon’s Kfar Shuba Heights in response to the attack.

On Sunday, Lebanon and Israel forces opened fired at each other’s positions in the same area of the Lebanese-Israeli border, leaving one Lebanese soldier wounded.

Hezbollah is a paramilitary and political organization originating in Lebanon’s Shiite population, fighting for an Islamic state in Lebanon.

It is recognized as a terrorist group by many Western countries, including Israel, the United States and the United Kingdom, but not by Russia.

Hezbollah is one of Israel’s most powerful opponents, but members of the group, which controls most of Lebanon’s southern regions, have been maintaining a ceasefire since the end of the Lebanon War.

LEBANON: ‘ Families of Lebanese Captive Families Block the Road ‘

#AceNewsServices – LEBANON – Families of the Lebanese soldiers and security officers kidnapped by Takfiri terrorists in Syria have blocked roads in Lebanon, urging the government to do more to release their loved ones.

Relatives of captive Lebanese soldier, Ibrahim Mogheit, cut off the highway in Qalamoun, north Lebanon, on October 6, 2014.

Relatives of captive Lebanese soldier, Ibrahim Mogheit, cut off the highway in Qalamoun, north Lebanon, on October 6, 2014.

On Monday, protesters erected high sand mounds across Dahr al-Baidar highway in the capital, Beirut, blocking all access, including a narrow passageway that had been kept open for ambulances and emergency cases.

Security sources said the road blockage was meant to express the families’ growing frustration with regard to what happened to their loved ones.

In northern Lebanon, relatives of captive soldier, Ibrahim Mogheit, also cut off a highway in Qalamoun region, severing access to the city of Tripoli.

Traffic had to be redirected to a narrow road, causing long trails of stranded cars.

‘ Hezbollah Leader Warns Lebanon Against Joining US-led Coalition ‘

#AceWorldNews – LEBANON – September 24 – Lebanon should not be part of the US-led international coalition fighting terrorism, the leader of Hezbollah said in a televised speech Tuesday night.

The group also opposed US military intervention in Syria, including air-strikes on ISIS targets, the Daily Star quoted Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah as saying.

He stressed that the US had created or helped create terrorist groups which the coalition was now seeking to fight in Iraq and Syria.

Lebanon was capable of confronting terrorism alone, he said, adding that the government should negotiate with Islamist militants holding at least 21 Lebanese soldiers and policemen hostage “from a position of strength.”

NORTH KOREA SAYS IT IS HOLDING AN AMERICAN TOURIST

North Korea has detained a 56-year old man from Ohio, accusing him of an unspecified crime after he traveled to the communist-led country as a tourist, the nation’s state news agency and the man’s family said Friday. The North is now holding three Americans. The state Korean Central News Agency identified the latest detainee as Jeffrey Edward Fowle. It said he arrived in North Korea on April 29 and authorities were investigating him for committing acts inconsistent with the purpose of a tourist visit. It did not give details. U.S. officials confirmed the detention but didn’t identify the person for privacy reasons, nor comment on reports that he was held after leaving a Bible in his hotel room. A spokesman for the family said, Fowle, who is married with three children, was not on a mission for his church.

One of the other two U.S. detainees is Korean-American missionary Kenneth Bae, who has been held since November 2012, and is serving 15 years of hard labor for what the North says were hostile acts against the state. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf did not say whether Sweden, which handles consular matters for Americans in North Korea, had been granted access to the latest detainee. “This is the third U.S. citizen that has been detained in North Korea,” Harf told reporters in Washington. She added there’s “no greater priority for us than the welfare and safety of U.S. citizens abroad.”

She said the department has a warning against travel to North Korea and that being part of a tour group will not prevent a possible arrest. North Korea has been pushing to promote tourism as part of efforts to earn badly needed foreign currency, but the country is also extremely sensitive about how visitors act while in the country. The other American being held was detained for alleged improper behavior while entering the country. The tourist agency he traveled with identified him as Matthew Miller, 24. North Korea said he entered the country on April 10 with a tourist visa, but tore it up and shouted that he wanted to seek asylum. The brief report said he chose the North “as a shelter.”

Friday’s announcement came as tension on the Korean Peninsula remains high with North Korea keeping up rhetoric against the U.S. and South Korea following its series of missile and rocket launches earlier this year. The North’s state media have also unleashed racist and sexist slurs against U.S. and South Korean leaders. The peninsula is still in a technical state of war because the 1950-53 Korean War ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty. About 28,500 U.S. troops are stationed in South Korea to deter potential aggression from North Korea. Timothy Tepe, an attorney who is acting as a spokesman for Fowle’s family, confirmed that North Korea detained Fowle. He said the family would issue statement on Monday and not comment until then, “given the sensitive nature of Jeff’s situation.”

“This is a very fluid situation that has just come to light and they need time to process it,” Tepe said. Tepe said Fowle, who has a home in Miamisburg in southwest Ohio, was not on a mission for his church, Urbancrest Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ohio, and that he was just visiting North Korea as a tourist. Mark Edward Howard, who attends Fowle’s church, described him as “a very good Christian father, a very loving father to his children.” He said that Fowle’s wife, Tatyana Fowle, 40, is a Russian immigrant with limited English, and that Jeff Fowle always stayed close to her side in case she needed interpretation. “They are pretty much inseparable,” he said. “You never see him not by her side. They’re a very nice family.”

In a statement, U.S. Rep. Michael Turner, a Dayton, Ohio Republican, said he was “deeply troubled by the detainment of American and Miamisburg resident Jeffery Edward Fowle, by the authoritarian government of North Korea.” “We have been in contact with the State Department and will continue to carefully monitor Fowle’s detainment as we await the release of additional information,” he said. The U.S. and North Korea do not have diplomatic relations so Sweden, which has an embassy in Pyongyang, oversees consular issues for the United States there. Unless a detainee signs a privacy waiver, the State Department cannot give details about the case. In March, North Korea deported an Australian missionary detained for spreading Christianity in the country after he apologized for anti-state religious acts and requested forgiveness. In December, North Korea released 85-year-old American veteran of the Korean War, Merrill Newman, who was held for several weeks after traveling to North Korea as a tourist. Newman was freed after he gave a videotaped confession in which he apologized for killing North Koreans during the war. Newman later said the confession was given involuntarily and under duress.

` Women Paying Price of War in Syria All In the Name of Man’s Image of God ‘

#AceWorldNews – SYRIA – May 15 – (MNN) – Syrian women are paying the price of war. Baptist Global Response says some refugee widows are becoming prostitutes in order to feed their families.

They’re also helping physically with food distributions.

*Jala, a refugee, sits in a crowded room in Lebanon with other Syrian refugee women who gathered for Bible study. She makes a bold announcement.

“People really need to pray for the women in Syria because they are being raped,” she says.

Jala describes some of the horrific things she has seen and heard: women being raped in their homes or while fleeing the country, and some being taken as brides of the militia.

“They steal, they kill, and they rape in the name of God,” Jala says.

In the two years since the war began, the death toll in Syria has climbed above 90,000 people.

The plight of women, though, is seldom discussed.
