(DUBAI) JUST IN: A fiery explosion on a container ship has sent a shock wave through and damaged one of the world’s largest ports #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – July.10: The explosion unleashed a shock wave through the skyscraper-studded city of Dubai, causing walls and windows to shake in neighbourhoods as far as 25 kilometres away.

#AceDailyNews – DUBAI: Explosion on container ship felt by residents 25 kilometres away as the blaze sent up giant orange flames on a vessel at the crucial Jebel Ali Port, which is the busiest port in the Middle East and sits on the eastern side of the Arabian Peninsula.

Play Video. Duration: 47 seconds
Firefighters work to extinguish the inferno on the ship.

Panicked residents filmed from their high-rises as a fiery ball illuminated the night sky.

The blast was powerful enough to be seen from space by satellite.

There were no immediate reports of casualties at the port.

Dubai’s civil defence teams said they had brought the fire under control and started the “cooling process” roughly two-and-a-half hours after the blast.

Authorities posted to social media video of firefighters dousing giant shipping containers.

The glow of the blaze remained visible in the background as civil defence crews worked to contain the fire.

The extent of damage caused to the sprawling port and surrounding cargo was not immediately clear.

Footage shared on social media in the aftermath showed charred containers, ashes and littered debris.

Dubai authorities told the Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya TV the crew had evacuated in time and the fire appeared to have started in one of the containers holding “flammable material”.

Seeking to downplay the explosion, Mona al-Marri, director-general of the Dubai Media Office, told Al-Arabiya the incident could have happened “anywhere in the world” and authorities were investigating the cause.

The Jebel Ali Port, at the northern end of Dubai, is the largest man-made deep-water harbour in the world and it serves cargo from the Indian subcontinent, Africa and Asia.

The port is not only a critical global cargo hub, but a lifeline for Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, serving as the point of entry for essential imports.

Dubai authorities did not identify the stricken ship beyond saying it was a small vessel with a capacity of 130 containers.

Ship tracker MarineTraffic showed a fleet of small support vessels surrounding a docked container ship called the Ocean Trader flagged in Comoros.

Footage from the scene rebroadcast by the UAE’s state-run WAM news agency showed firefighters hosing down a vessel bearing paint and a logo that corresponds to the Ocean Trader, which is operated by the Dubai-based Inzu Ship Charter.

The Ocean Trader docked at Jebel Ali Port at midday on Wednesday.

Ship-tracking data showed the vessel had been sailing up and down the coast of the UAE since April.

The United Nations ship database identified the vessel’s owners as Sash Shipping corporation.

Sash and Inzu Ship Charter did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

(AUSTRIA) Anti-Semitic Report: Middle Eastern’ man beats man on train who objected to his anti-Semitic rhetoric #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – May.31: A train passenger in Austria asked a couple of fellow passengers to stop denying the Holocaust and engaging in antisemitic rhetoric about Jews and Israel:

AUSTRIA: Passenger beaten for complaining about Holocaust denial,” by Cnaan Liphshiz, JTA, May 27, 2021 (thanks to the Geller Report):

It didn’t go well: One of the passengers punched him in the face.

The incident happened on May 21 near Amstetten, a city located 70 miles east of Vienna, the Heute newspaper reported Wednesday.

The alleged assailant, whom witnesses said looked Middle Eastern, was speaking about Israel to a fellow passenger, who also looked Middle Eastern and was wearing a kaffiyeh, an Arab headdress that in Europe is also called a “Palestinian shawl” and is commonly worn at pro-Palestinian events.

According to the Heute report, the conversation, which was replete with antisemitic statements, veered into Holocaust denial, which is illegal in Austria. The 32-year-old victim, who was not named, asked the other men to stop making antisemitic remarks but was ignored.

Before exiting the train, one of the passengers hit the victim three times in the face, wounding his lip. Police are looking for the two men, who left the train after the assault….

#AceNewsReport – May.13: Editor says when l set up this site many years ago l started with one simple aim to provide stories and posts that provided tha truth in the news ……since that day its become more difficult to find the truth with so many bias interviews and stories that just provide their view of the situation and their beliefs …..l now publish articles and posts that reflect not my view but an unbiased view of the news ….as the truth will set you free by the ‘Word of God’ being spoken up on the earth Amen

Israel-Gaza violence dominates Arab media: ‘However, the news remains relatively low down the running order of Syrian TV news, and in Iran it only started topping bulletins on Tuesday in both countries – key members of the so-called “axis of resistance” to Israel – domestic issues have taken priority’

BBC News: Says the escalation of violence in Israel and Gaza dominates TV and press coverage in most of the Middle East, with an outpouring of anger and solidarity with the Palestinians expressed by social media users across the region:

By BBC Monitoring
Essential Media Insight

Arabic newspaper front pages
BBC Middle East News

Qatari Al-Jazeera’s Arabic channel, a traditional supporter of the Palestinian cause, gives the story full coverage: It is also the lead story on Saudi-funded Al Arabiya, which is pressing its guests and correspondents on claims by both sides:

Arab press highlights ‘dilemma’

Some Arabic newspapers predict a long-running armed conflict while others criticise “deluded” Arab countries that signed peace deals with Israel.

London-based website Rai al-Youm said: “Perhaps a major confrontation is imminent. We are in the beginning of an armed intifada that may last for months.”

Jordan’s Al-Dustour daily says Arab countries face “a serious dilemma” – whether to preserve their Arab-Islamic identity or continue normalisation with Israel.

A column in Algeria’s Echorouk says the clashes have “revealed the limitations and delusion of the normalisers”.

In Lebanon, Nidaa al-Watan notes how protests in Lebanese cities rejected “oppression against the Palestinian people”.

An editorial in Jerusalem-based Al-Quds urges Egypt to work hard for a truce to end “the bloodbath in Gaza”. “We see that a truce will be good for all the parties, particularly our people in the Gaza Strip. No party has any interest in an ongoing military escalation,” it says.

The story dominated Egypt’s press on Tuesday, but on Wednesday it was pushed down by domestic matters. However, state-owned Al-Ahram newspaper expresses surprise at the “international silence and the silence of the Biden administration” in the US.

On social media, Arabic hashtags being used to express solidarity with the Palestinians include “Gaza under attack”, “Free Palestine” and “Gaza resists”.

Thousands of users have lashed out at the Arab leaders, saying that they only care about “maintaining their relations” with Israel to remain in power.

The view from Turkey and Iran

The conflict has topped Turkey’s news agenda for several days, with both print and broadcast media widely condemnatory of Israel.

“They [Israel] know well how to kill children,” reads the front page of the flagship pro-government Sabah newspaper on Wednesday.

“Your day of reckoning will come,” says Yeni Safak in its main headline.

Opposition Sozcu newspaper says the Arab world, the US, the EU and UN have “not given a strong response”.

Iran’s domestic media is focused on its June presidential election, but the Israel-Gaza conflict is the main international story.

Rolling news channel IRINN and Press TV report Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, while newspapers highlight Palestinian militants firing rockets into Israel.

“Biggest missile attack against Tel Aviv,” says the headline in conservative Khorasan.

And hardline Javan writes: “Gaza’s missile shield over honourable Quds [Jerusalem]”.

(IRAQ) #Yazidi Auctions Report: #IslamicState in Iraq and the Levant) is still holding and selling captive women as slaves, and now some of these slave sales are being carried out on the dark web.” #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Apr.25: Pakistani rape gangs in Britain are an extension of such practice:

Iraq: ‘#AceNewsServices posted about these acts and sex slaves of the Islamic State were being auctioned off in Saudi Arabia, and the practice goes far beyond Saudi Arabia’

Slave auctions have been going on in the Middle East and Africa for thousands of years. Despite energetic anti-slavery campaigns by European nations in the 19th and 20th centuries, slavery persists in parts of the Middle East and Africa:

“Murphy’s Law: ISIL Slaving Survives”, Strategy Page, April 17, 2021:

ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) is still holding and selling captive Iraqi Yazidi women as slaves, and now some of these slave sales are being carried out on the dark web. These are internet sites that are deliberately kept from being found and listed by Internet search engines, like Google. All manner of secretive business takes place on the dark web, much of it of a criminal nature. Access to dark web sites is difficult to obtain, but once the web ID is known the owners and users can sometimes be tracked down. At the very least the server (hard drive holding the web site data and connected to the web) can be seized or forced to disconnect because it is now known. Dark web sites are used by smugglers, especially people smugglers who are moving or literally selling captive women. In one early 2021 incident Turkish police were notified that a seven-year-old Yazidi girl was being offered for sale. Families often continue searching for enslaved children and have found that dark web auction sites will often offer women or girls. The slavers don’t care if kin of their captive made the highest bid just to get a child or young girl back. In this case the relatives contacted Turkish police to assist, fearing that they might robbed by the kidnappers when they went to deliver the money and get the girl. Police staked out the pickup location and arrested the Iraqi men who had captured the girl and brought her to Turkey to sell her for a higher price via a dark web auction.

Slave auctions have been going on in the Middle East and Africa for thousands of years. Despite energetic anti-slavery campaigns by European nations in the 19th and 20th centuries, slavery persists in parts of the Middle East and Africa.

Islamic conservatives are responsible for most of the surviving slavery and they are now assisted by criminal gangs that specialize in moving illegal migrants to Western countries. Some of these migrants are enslaved women being sold into prostitution….

(RIYADH, S.A.) G20 Briefing Report: The world needs to strengthen cooperation to reduce land degradation, habitat loss and coral reef conservation, said Saudi Deputy Minister for Environment Dr. Osama Faqeeha on Tuesday according to Arab Media News #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Nov.17: Speaking at a G20 meeting briefing on the highlights of the Environment Working Group, Faqeeha underlined the importance of preserving the environment for a sustainable future: He said that the Saudi presidency is pursuing collective efforts and taking concrete actions to safeguard the planet: The deputy minister said conserving the earth’s environment meant protecting marine and terrestrial environments and working towards reducing marine pollution such as plastic littering: ” Around 12 million hectares of land are lost annually due to land degradation, including deforestation,” he added: Moreover, land degradation affects about 60 percent of people directly or indirectly and contributes to massive habitat and ecosystem service losses, he said, adding that deforestation and other land use are also responsible for 24 percent of greenhouse gas emissions: G20 Saudi Arabia is leading the international community in working toward minimizing land degradation and deforestation to conserve biodiversity and meet climate goals:

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Faqeeha also spoke about preserving the oceans, saying that the human activity and climate change endanger the survival of coral reefs, on which about 50 percent of the world’s marine life depends.

Without concrete action, it is estimated that “a significant share of coral reefs are at risk,” he said. Coral reefs are under constant threat from pollution and habitat destruction, therefore conserving them “urgently important to ensure protection of our ecosystem.”

Due to the urgency of this issue, Saudi Arabia intends to build on the Japanese G20 Presidency’s efforts and advance steps on the preservation of the ecosystem.

Furthermore, climate change is one of the most pressing global challenges. The urgency to act increases as the world population continues to grow and emissions rise.

The Saudi G20 presidency is committed to advancing efforts for managing emissions in all sectors and improving synergies between adaptation and mitigation actions, including nature-based solutions such as reforestation and protecting and restoring marine resources.

“There has been significant appreciation of Saudi Arabia on environment preservation,” said the deputy minister.

Addressing the subject of “Securing a Future for the World’s Coral Reefs” later, Carlos M. Duarte, a professor of marine science at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), talked about the Kingdom’s coral reefs in the Red Sea.

“Red Sea coral reefs are the best preserved in the world and remarkably beautiful,” he said, adding that Red Sea is very salty, which protects coral reefs, which often called the tropical forests of the oceans.

Duarte said that the northern Red Sea provides a globally unique refuge for coral reefs.

Regarding securing the future of coral reefs, he added that by the turn of the century, about half of the coral reefs were lost. “We should not accept the loss of the coral reefs and grieve, but there is a need to act and strengthen cooperation to preserve them, not only through green recovery plan but blue recovery initiatives as well.”

He suggested some measures to preserve coral reefs, including resilience-based management, expansion of mangroves, growing and expanding habitats and restoring marine habitats.

RUSSIA/CHINA: ‘ Agreement on Far East Land Lease for 50-years ‘

#AceNewsReport – Russia and China will have the possibility to develop their cooperation in the agricultural field to the full extent.

 Vineyards in Crimea

Crimea Presents Agricultural, Industrial Projects in Saudi Arabia

The agreement between Russia’s Zabaikalsky Territory and Chinese company Huae Sinban to lease 115,000 hectares of Russian farmland to China is not only a major step in agricultural cooperation, but also a perfect example of trust between the two countries, according to an article from the Chinese newspaper Huanqiu Shibao.

The author of the article, Wang Haiyun, is senior advisor at the Chinese Institute for International Strategic Studies.

He believes that now Russia and China will have the possibility to develop to the full extent their cooperation in the agricultural field.

Rostselmash, among the world's largest agricultural equipment producers, has ambitious plans to increase its exports by 20 percent this year, noting that the devaluation of the ruble has increased the company's cost competitiveness. Pictured: ACROS-500 grain harvesters

Major Russian Agricultural Equipment Firm Plans 20% Increase in Exports in 2015

The fact that Russian authorities agreed to lease such an immense territory for 49 years proves that Moscow has no ideological prejudice towards Beijing, the article said.

For a long time Russian society believed in the mythical Chinese threat, including economic expansion and territorial claims, the author wrote. The recent agreement shows the high level of mutual confidence between Russia and China.

He stressed the need to “think open” and to eradicate absurd claims that for China agricultural cooperation means territorial expansion.

Armata main battle tank

Why May China and India Need Russia’s Armata Super Tank?

Expansion is contrary to Chinese cultural values and its policy towards Russia. Expansion allegations are a provocation by unfriendly forces aimed against the blooming Russian-Chinese cooperation, Haiyun concluded.

He also expresses hopes that the agricultural industry will be a perspective field for long-term cooperation between the two countries and would help find a way to resolve the global food crisis.

FRANCE: ‘ Paris regrets loss of Russian Arms Market ‘

#AceNewsReport – FRANCE:Exclusive Interview:June.14: While France is taking a hard anti-Russian stance due to the Ukrainian crisis, other European nations are busy signing new billion-dollar contracts with Russia, said Philippe Migault, a military expert from the French Institute of International and Strategic Affairs.

' Paris Regrets loss of French Arms Market '
‘ Paris Regrets loss of Russian Arms Market ‘

Since French companies don’t have access to the two main global arms markets – the United States and China – they face fierce competition for markets in the Middle East and Asia.

That is why voluntarily losing the Russian market, one of the most promising and emerging arms markets in the world, is a silly move on behalf of the French government, Migault told Sputnik France in an exclusive interview.

“We risk regretting this very soon,” the military expert said.

France had the opportunity to deliver two Mistral-class helicopter carriers to Russia; however, Paris complied with Washington’s pressure and decided to cancel the $1.3 billion contract.

France went against its own idea of economic patriotism, highly regarded during the current economic crisis, by abandoning the Mistral deal. Economic patriotism requires the support of exports and the protection of jobs, but France did the exact opposite by cancelling the arms deal

MERS virus spreading across Asia, South Korea fails to contain outbreak

#AceNewsServices -Featured Post: South Korea:June.11: Hong Kong issued a red alert and advised against travelling to South Korea, where an epidemic of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is gaining pace. The virus is spreading despite attempts to contain the outbreak.

In Korea, the number of infected people passed 100 this week, reaching 122 on Thursday. Tenth patient died from the disease, health officials said on Thursday. Most of the victims are elderly patients with other health problems unrelated to the virus. Over 3,250 people remain in quarantine.

Two people in Hong Kong who traveled to South Korea recently are being tested for possible MERS contagion, the authorities said on Thursday. Previously 31 people were tested negative in Hong Kong.

Earlier a man tested positive for the disease in China after coming from S. Korea, and a man in Taiwan was taken to hospital with symptoms consistent with MERS.

South Korean authorities are trying to stop the spread of the virus by closing schools and canceling public events. Neighbors in the region are scaling down tourist travel to South Korea, with Hong Kong alone scrapping 600 tours to the MERS-hit country.

SYRIA: ‘ Muslims Defy ISIL & Open New Mosque Named After Virgin Mary ‘

#AceBreakingNews – SYRIA:June.07: Muslims in the Syrian city of Tartous have inaugurated a mosque named after the Virgin Mary, the Syrian Arab News Agency has reported.  Speaking at the inauguration, Syrian Minister of Religious Endowments Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed noted that this was the first time in the Muslim world when a mosque has been named after the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ. He added that the mosque embodies calls for amenity and fraternity between Syrians of all faiths.

Al-Sayyed noted that Syria is one of the places where Islamic culture and architecture originated, adding that Syrians of all confessions deplore and condemn the barbarity with which ultra-extremists from ISIL and other terrorist groups operating inside Syria demolish and deface places of worship.

Tartous and Lattakia Maronite Patriarchate representative Antoine Deeb noted that the symbolic gesture of naming the Mosque after Mary shows that Islam and Christianity share the messages of peace and love.

MOSCOW: ‘ PUTIN VOICES OPINION OF THE WEST’S TREATMENT OF RUSSIA ‘

#AceNewsServices – MOSCOW – October 24 – Vladimir Putin has voiced his disagreement with the West’s position on Russia, which he likened to the Latin proverb

“What is permissible for Jove is not permissible for an ox.”

However, he said “a bear” won’t ask anyone for permission.

Stressing how different the international reaction to Kosovo and Crimea referendums was, the Russian president reminded of the proverb ‘Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi’.

We cannot agree with such definitions,” he said.

“Maybe it isn’t permissible for an ox, but I have to say that a bear will not ask anyone for permission,” Putin jested, adding that a bear is “the master of the taiga” and it will not give it up to anyone.

The Russian leader attended the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi on Friday where he touched a wide range of topics – from Islamist militants in the Middle East to the state of Russian economy.

Putin lashed out at the United States for destabilizing the world order of checks and balances for its own gains.

He also accused the West of inflaming the situation in Ukraine and said Russia was not interested in building an empire.

‘ US STATE DEPARTMENT ISSUES GLOBAL TERRORISM ALERT TO ALL AMERICAN’S TRAVELLING TO ABROAD ‘

The State Department is renewing its global terrorism alert for Americans travelling abroad, saying it sees a heightened risk of reprisal attacks from the Islamic State group and its supporters.

In a new “worldwide caution” issued on Friday, the department said terrorist groups continue to plot strikes against Americans and U.S. interests in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

It said authorities believe there is “an increased likelihood” of reprisal attacks from Islamic State militants since the U.S. and its coalition partners launched military action against the group in Iraq and Syria.

The alert replaces an existing warning issued in April and also notes the growing threat of kidnapping perpetrated by terrorists.

“America, Zionism, and especially the veteran expert of spreading divisions – the wicked government of Britain – have sharply increased their efforts of creating divisions between the Sunnis and Shia,” he said.

The speech, marking the Shia Muslim religious holiday of Eid Al Ghadir, was posted on his website, where he has also published video footage showing his recovery from a recent prostate surgery.

The Centre for a Democratic Iran, a non-profit organisation whose mission is to promote and pursue an independent, peaceful and democratic Iran, followed these events with great interest.

CDI Founder, Behrooz Behbudi, offered his thoughts:

“In parallel with every foreign and domestic policy that the self-declared moderate administration of Hassan Rouhani has been taking to get Iran out of the socio-economic calamities that the eight years of Ahmadinejad rule has created, one can clearly see a deliberate hard-line policy by Khamenei to derail a return by Iran and the Iranians to peace and prosperity, however minimal given Rouhani’s allegiance to the regime.

However, Khamenei’s “radicalism” and ranting against Western powers is in fact a facade that is aimed at concealing his political and leadership weaknesses, as well as demonstrating his paranoia about the roots of the problems among the Muslims of the Middle East.

In raging against the US and Britain in his speech Khamenei is deliberately acting as a political player to distance himself from the behind the scene deals that his regime officials are making with world powers, with the help of the Russians as their mediators.

Islamic State is undoubtedly a threat to the peace and security of the Middle Eastern nations as well as the West, as we have watched their barbaric acts with horror on our TV screens.

However, by claiming that “the ISIS has been set up to confront the Islamic republic,” Khamenei – who incidentally refers to himself as the Caliph of Shia Muslims – wants us to forget that a similar type of extremist ideology in the name of Islam has for long actually been practiced by the very regime that he leads in Iran.

Furthermore, it is a well-known fact among Iran’s political forces that Khamenei owes his leadership status more to behind the scene power broking tactics by former president Rafsanjani than anything else, as his credentials as a cleric have never been accepted by Iran’s religious establishment, a complex that he has long concealed by advocating his bankrupted “political Islam”.

Since ascending to power and turning into an absolute religious leader and skilled political player, Khamenei has managed to dominate the political scene of Iran by empowering the Revolutionary Guard, the Basij militias and the security and intelligence organs of the regime around his “anti-American-Israeli” paranoia.

In reality, as world powers begin a new round of negotiations with the Islamic republic over the nuclear issue, they are effectively trying to reach a deal with another fundamentalist “Islamic State” that is ruling Iran with Khamenei at its Caliph in the name of the medieval system of Velayat-e Faqhi, or the Islamic government.

The irony remains however that Western powers are at the same time mulling over whether to involve the military forces of this dictatorship in Iran to help them overthrow the barbarism of the ISIS in its neighboring country in an act of appeasement to Khamenei and his associates in the Revolutionary Guard.

You cannot ask one dictator to join your forces to fight against another dictator in defence of freedom and humanity.

‘ Middle East is Ruled by Militias That Have Risen Since Arab Spring ‘

#AceNewsServices (Opinion) – October 14 – Embattled governments in Iraq and Syria have come to rely on Shiite militias as their armies have crumbled in the face of mostly Sunni insurgents and rebels.

In Libya, various armed groups loosely allied with two rival governments have fought over bullet-riddled airports.

Shiite rebels in Yemen have swept down from the north, capturing the capital and, on Tuesday, a key port city.

The chaos unleashed by the Arab Spring has led to the rise of powerful militias – including many Islamic extremist groups – across a Middle East where many central governments have been exposed as weak.

Some of the groups are allied with the governments, while others are fighting to topple them.

Some – like the Kurdish peshmerga in northern Iraq – are seen as vital allies for the West.

All could prove to be major obstacles to peace or stability in the region.

UNITED STATES: ‘ ISIS Threaten Next Beheading Victim Will Be US Soldier Peter Kassig ‘

#AceNewsServices – UNITED STATES – October 06 – ISIS has threatened that its next beheading victim will be kidnapped former U.S. soldier Peter Kassig, who has given most of his young life to helping others.

A former U.S. Army Ranger from Indianapolis who was deployed to Iraq in 2007, Kassig went to help Syrian refugees in a Lebanese hospital and, in the spirit of humanitarianism shared by his fellow Islamic State captives, started his own aid group.

' Special Emergency Response and Assistance '

‘ Special Emergency Response and Assistance ‘

The group, called Special Emergency Response and Assistance, supplied Syrian refugees with blankets, cooking stoves, propane fuel tanks and other necessities, according to a 2013 Time article about the Indiana native.

The 26-year-old said he was inspired and touched by the warm reaction of Syrian locals who received the assistance.

“I did not meet a single man woman or child who could not muster a smile and a message of strength and hope that was nothing short of earth-shatteringly humbling,” he said then.

He disappeared in October 2013, on his way to Deir Ezzour in eastern Syria, while on a SERA relief effort, WTHR-TV reported. At the request of his kidnappers, his family kept silent about his abduction while trying to secure his release. Former hostages told the family Kassig had converted to Islam during his captivity and his faith has sustained him during his imprisonment.

In a statement released to the station, parents Ed and Paula Kassig of Indianapolis said: “We ask everyone around the world to pray for the Henning family, for our son, and for the release of all innocent people being held hostage in the Middle East and around the globe.”
