A Texas film has revealed an app controlled security drone that can zap intruders with an 80,000 volt taser dart. But Human operators still have to sanction any attack – for now.

Web firm, Chaotic Moon studios, has created a drone that uses a taser instead of missiles, in what could be a policeman’s new best friend in the battle against crime.

It’s called CUPID, but unlike its name, it could turn out as a deadly piece of kit. The name stands for Chaotic Unmanned Personal Intercept Drone and can fire a dart packed with 80,000 volts at any unwanted intruder or criminal on the run.

In a video released on Saturday, CUPID fires the dart at an intern who is brought instantly to the ground.

Medical staff then rushes to assistance before the video cuts out.

Cupid was revealed at the SXSW Interactive Festival in Austin Texas as a concept for how security might be implemented in the future.

“The drone can be deployed when an alarm is triggered. It can find a subject and send live video to the owners phone and ask if you want to authorize the subject or detain them. If you detain them, it drops into fully autonomous mode to detain them until police arrive. If need be stunning them with 80,000 volts of electricity to render them incapacitated,” the firm said in a statement.

The firm said it hopes the drone will “shock the world”, although it was not clear whether they were being ironic.

They also plan to bring out a pepper spray version in the near future.

Chaotic Moon is also developing an EMP drone to knock spying paparazzi drones out of the sky.

The EMP drone would fly to within about 2 meters of the intruding drone and blast its electronics with an electromagnetic pulse that would mess up the offending drones electronics and knock it out of the sky.

` Asteroid will whizz between the `Earth and the Moon ‘ on March 5 and is expected around 21.07 GMT ‘

AceWorldNews says an Apollo class asteroid is expected to whizz between the Earth and the moon on March 5.

The 98-foot-wide space rock is expected to come within 218,000 miles of earth (0.9 lunar distances), creating quite the site for stargazers.

The asteroid, named 2014 DX110, is expected to make its closest approach at 21:07 GMT on Wednesday at a blistering speed of 14.85 km/s (32,076 mph).
Although the space rock poses no threat to earth, it highlights the earth’s susceptibility to near-Earth asteroids.

For amateur astronomers interested in watching the flyby as it happens, the virtual telescope project will offer live coverage via Slooh, which allows viewers to peer through a telescope via the web.

DX110 belongs to the Apollo class of asteroids, a group of Earth-crossing asteroids, which pose a potential threat to humankind.

The February-15, 2013, 65-foot-wide meteor, which exploded over the town of Chelyabinsk in the southern Urals region of Russia, belonged to the Apollo class.

The meteor explosion was 30 times stronger than the Hiroshima atomic bomb.

As windowpanes shattered throughout the city, 1,500 people were injured, but luckily no one was killed.
