(BROOKLYN, NYC.) Federal Court Report: US singer R Kelly has been found guilty of exploiting his superstar status to run a scheme to sexually abuse women and children over two decades #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Sept.28: After two days of deliberation, the jury found Kelly guilty on all the charges he was facing: Sentencing is due on 4 May and he could spend the rest of his life behind bars.

#AceDailyNews says that according to BBC America R. Kelly found guilty in sex trafficking trial: Eleven accusers, nine women and two men, took the stand over the searing six-week trial to describe sexual humiliation and violence at his hands……

The jury found Kelly, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was the ringleader of a violent and coercive scheme that lured women and children for him to sexually abuse: Daily Mail Online, [Sep 28, 2021 at 10:47] R Kelly accusers share their delight after disgraced singer convicted of sex trafficking https://t.me/mail_online/79292

The singer – most famous for the award-winning song I Believe I Can Fly – was also found to have trafficked women between different US states.

Along with eight counts of sex trafficking, Kelly was found guilty of racketeering – a charge normally used against organised crime associations.

During the trial prosecutors detailed how his managers, security guards and other entourage members worked to assist him in his criminal enterprise.

One woman who testified that Kelly imprisoned, drugged and raped her said in a written statement after the verdict that she had “been hiding” from Kelly due to threats made against her since she went public with her accusations.

“I’m ready to start living my life free from fear and to start the healing process,” added the woman, identified in court as Sonja.

Reuters: Federal prosecutor Elizabeth Geddes pointed to R. Kelly during trial

Another woman who testified in court, Lizette Martinez, said she was “relieved” by the verdict.

“I’m so proud of the women who were able to speak their truths,” she added.

Legal documents have revealed the mental torment that Kelly subjected his victims to. They were not allowed to eat or use the bathroom without his permission, he controlled what clothes they wore and made them call him “Daddy”.

Gloria Allred, a lawyer who represented several victims, told reporters: “I’ve been practicing law for 47 years. During this time, I’ve pursued many sexual predators who have committed crimes against women and children.

“Of all the predators that I have pursued, Mr Kelly is the worst.”Watch: R. Kelly ‘is the worst, a dangerous sexual predator.’

At a news conference outside the court on Monday, prosecutor Jacquelyn Kasulis said that the jury had sent a message to other powerful men like Kelly.

“No matter how long it takes, the long arm of the law will catch up with you,” said Ms Kasulis.

The verdict comes 13 years after Kelly was acquitted of child pornography charges after a trial in the state of Illinois.

Many of the allegations heard in the trial were first laid out in the 2019 documentary Surviving R Kelly.

Victims were sometimes selected from his concert audiences, or were enticed to join him after being offered help with their fledgling music careers after chance encounters with the singer.

But after joining his entourage, they found that they were subjected to strict rules and aggressively punished if they violated what his team had dubbed “Rob’s rules”.

A swift verdict after decades of waitingThis was a swift decision by the jury of seven men and five women. They took nine hours over two days to reach a verdict, meaning they must have been fairly united in their examination of the evidence. Right before the verdict was read, a handful of R. Kelly’s fans blasted his music outside the courthouse.

I asked them how they felt after he was found guilty: They were visibly sad and told me they still supported him…………On the other hand, R. Kelly’s victims are feeling some measure of comfort. One – who remained anonymous throughout the trial – issued a statement saying she felt like she could now start the healing process………….This verdict no doubt hinged on their testimony and willingness to recount personal trauma. For decades these black women kept asking when they would be heard, when their voices would matter.

This conviction is their #MeToo victory……….During the federal trial, the court also heard how he had illegally obtained paperwork to marry underage singer Aaliyah, who died in a plane accident in August 2001 after marrying Kelly at age 15.

Kelly’s lawyer Deveraux Cannick told reporters that the singer did not expect to be found guilty. “The government cherry-picked their version that they thought would support the continuation of the narrative,” said Mr Cannick. “Why would he expect this verdict given all the inconsistencies that we saw?”

Kelly is separately facing trial in Chicago on child pornography and obstruction charges. He is also due to face sex abuse charges in Illinois and Minnesota. At least two former Kelly associates have pleaded guilty in separate cases related to attempts to silence Kelly’s accusers.

(IOWA) Global Warming/Climate Change Report: Ponder this: A new tally of global cities’ emissions finds that the top 25 are responsible for 52% of the planet’s urban greenhouse gas emissions. Twenty-three of those are in China #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Sept.06: In other words, the U.S. – including each of the major cities – is outperforming the world when it comes to emissions: All this data begs a question of our elected leaders who say we have to do more for our environment…

#AceDailyNews says that Iowa Climate has said that 23 of the world’s top 25 greenhouse gas emitting cities are in China with New York City being the first American city to appear, at No. 26. Out of the top 75, just four other American cities are listed – San Diego, Houston, Chicago and Los Angeles – all of them ranked 41 or higher….

IOWA CLIMATE CHANGE REPORT:

We are already leading the world in terms of environmental regulations and controls, and again, we’ve – by far – reduced our emissions more than any country year after year for more than 20 years.

By 2025, we will be more than two-thirds of the way to reaching our targeted emissions reduction of 28% from 2005 levels under the Paris Climate Agreement, according to Bloomberg Philanthropies. Part of that is owing to the good work we’ve done in our cities to reduce emissions.

Contrast this with the facts about China, which recently won plaudits from many in the “we must do more” crowd for promising to stop increasing emissions before 2030. While we’re cutting our emissions, China’s pollution by then will have surged an estimated 14%-25%. On top of that, China’s greenhouse gas emissions in 2019 exceeded those of the entire developed world.

Say that again: more than the entire developed world.

Those are facts, undisputed by even the most hardcore anti-business zealot masquerading as an environmentalist.

“Dirtiest cities” isn’t the correct phrase to use because the “new tally” is of urban greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, not actual pollutants; however the author raises a very good question…

All this data begs a question of our elected leaders who say we have to do more for our environment…

Why are our politicians badgering us about pollution? Particularly, the non-pollutant CO2? Whether or not you view GHG emissions to be a problem, the United States have done more to reduce GHG emissions than has any other nation.

BP’s recently released Statistical Review of World Energy 2020 shows that in 2019 the United States led all nations in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions reductions for the 10th time this century. U.S. CO2 emissions fell 152 million metric tons in 2019, three percent below 2018 levels, according to BP.

This continues a trend that has been observed more often than not since since the turn of the century. In fact, BP data show that the U.S. has reduced CO2 emissions a world-leading 755 million metric tons since 2000, outpacing the next four leading nations combined.

Experts agree that fuel-shifting to clean-burning natural gas from higher-emitting fuels in the power sector is the primary reason the U.S. has achieved these reductions over the past decade-plus. For example, the International Energy Agency (IEA) recently noted:

“The United States saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis – a fall of 140 Mt, or 2.9%, to 4.8 Gt. US emissions are now down almost 1 Gt from their peak in the year 2000, the largest absolute decline by any country over that period.

A 15% reduction in the use of coal for power generation underpinned the decline in overall US emissions in 2019. Coal-fired power plants faced even stronger competition from natural gas-fired generation, with benchmark gas prices an average of 45% lower than 2018 levels. As a result, gas increased its share in electricity generation to a record high of 37%.”

U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) data show that from 2005 to 2018, a rapid shift to natural gas in the power sector reduced U.S. CO2emissions 57 percent more than the emissions reductions realized through renewables, as the following Energy In Depth graphic shows.

Yet, we’re supposed to blithely starve to death while freezing in the dark because the wind doesn’t always blow at just the right speed and the Sun doesn’t always shine, so that Red China can do whatever they want?

If there is a GHG emissions problem, it’s in Red China.

(NEW YORK) JUST IN: Tropical Storm #IDA Report:A state of emergency has been declared in NYC after it was hit by record rainfall and flash flooding in the aftermath #AceNewsDesk report

#AceWeatherDesk UPDATE: Storm Ida: New York declares state of emergency over ‘brutal flooding’ Mayor Bill de Blasio said the city was “enduring an historic weather event” with “brutal flooding” and “dangerous conditions” on the roads.

Footage on social media showed water pouring into subway stations and people’s homes, and flooded roads.

New Jersey also declared an emergency and reported at least one death.

A person drowned in Passaic, New Jersey, the local mayor said, A tornado also destroyed at least nine homes in Mullica Hill, in the same state.

EPAMore than three inches (8cm) of rain has fallen in parts of New York

The roof of a postal building collapsed in Kearny, New Jersey, with people inside at the time, police said. Rescue crews are on the scene, but it’s not clear how many injuries there might be.

The National Weather Service said it had recorded 3.15 inches (8cm) of rain in New York’s Central Park in one hour.New York police have urged people to stay off the roads and the fire department has said it is responding to calls from across the city. The city’s subway has mostly closed, and many train services and flights out of New York and New Jersey are suspended.ReutersSocial media footage shows flooding in Williamsburg area of Brooklyn (Photo credit: Jaymee Sire)The remnants of Hurricane Ida have been pushing north across the east of the country, having hit Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane on Sunday.Hundreds of thousands of homes in Louisiana remain without power and New Orleans is under a night-time curfew.

Four ways climate change links to extreme weather Many factors contribute to flooding, but a warming atmosphere caused by climate change makes extreme rainfall more likely. The world has already warmed by about 1.2C since the industrial era began and temperatures will keep rising unless governments around the world make steep cuts to emissions.

(AMERICA) Gun Violence Report: USA has endured yet another bloody weekend of gun violence, with at least 82 people shot and 13 killed across Chicago, Philadelphia and NYC alone #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Aug.17: Eight of those were gunned down in a single-incident at a housing complex in Brooklyn’s Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood. That came after three people were shot and killed in New York on Saturday…

#AceDailyNews says a weekend of US gun violence sees at least 82 shot in Chicago, Philly and NYC with Chicago being the worst hit, with at least 52 shootings recorded, and five killed – including a 7-year-old girl – from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.

A weekend of gun violence in three cities across the country saw sisters Serenity, 7, left, and Aubrey, 6, Broughton shot in Chicago. Serenity would die from her injuries

MailOnline

Philadelphia saw 11 shootings, and five killed as a result, while 16 people were shot in New York City during a single, two-hour period.

In Chicago, a seven year-old girl sitting in the back of a parked car was one of those killed during the city’s latest orgy of violence, while her six year-old sister suffered a pieced lung after she was also shot.

The girls were shot at around 2pm on Sunday, just as their parents had buckled them into the family car on a trip to their grandmother's house

The girls’ paternal grandmother, Regina Broughton, identified the sisters at Serenity – who died –  and Aubrey Broughton, who is being treated for serious wounds in hospital following the shooting in the Windy City’s Belmont neighborhood.

Both suffered multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said, and Serenity died at the hospital from her injuries, while Aubrey had been moved out of the ICU as of Sunday evening, suffering from a pierced lung, CBS2reported.

Police had responded to the scene at around 2.50pm to reports of rapid gunfire in the area to find the two girls injured in the back of their mother’s parked vehicle.

Serenity had been shot in the chest and torso, while Aubrey suffered gunshot wounds to her chest and right armpit.

Both were rushed to Loyola University Medical Center, where Serenity was pronounced dead.

Their grandmother, Regina Broughton (pictured) was expecting a visit from her two grandaughters that afternoon. Instead she made a trip to the hospital

The two had been heading out from a visit to their maternal grandmother’s house to visit Regina, who after hearing of the shooting rushed to the hospital to find Serenity had died.

‘She was getting in a car coming from her grandma’s house, and her life was ended at that moment. I mean, that’s just senseless,’ She told CBS2. ‘

‘And you know, someone should come forth and say something. Someone should come forth and help the family, and help us – because it didn’t have to happen to her. It shouldn’t have happened to her. She was innocent. She was 7. Her birthday was coming up in November.’

Serenity was due to take a plane trip with her grandmother to South Carolina on Tuesday

As of Sunday, she said, Aubrey did not know her sister had died.

Both parents were on the scene, Regina said, and her son was on the driver’s side of the car. Their mother had just finished buckling Aubrey into the back seat.

‘The other sister was already in her car seat buttoned up, and my son said he grabbed her – and she was just lifeless,’ the grandmother recounted.

Regina noted that she was due to take a plane trip with the girls to South Carolina on Tuesday for a visit to Myrtle Beach. It would have been Serenity’s first trip on a plane, she said.

‘How do you prepare yourself for something like this?’ she said. ‘She was a beautiful child. Her spirit was beautiful. Everything about her was innocent.’

Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Brian McDermott said the girls were not believed to be the intended target, and that the investigation into their death was ongoing.

‘To say that I am sad and outraged would be an understatement. I can only hope that every resident of the city is as angry, saddened, and outraged as I am at this time,’ he said during a news conference Sunday evening.

‘Too many young people have lost their lives to senseless gun violence in the city of Chicago.’

The Chicago shooting came as the city was rocked by gun violence this weekend, with 52 shootings recording and five killed

The weekend carnage in the city began at 5.15pm on Friday, when 18-year-old Nikko Mercado was killed in a drive-by shooting, CBS2 also reported.

Then, at 8.34pm on Friday a 17-year-old boy was killed and two others badly injured in a shooting on the Eisenhower Expressway.

At 12.40pm, Saturday  a 59-year-old man was shot multiple times and killed while driving in the West Humboldt Park section of the city.

At 8.15pm Saturday a 26-year-old man was shot in the torso while walking down the sidewalk in the Hyde Park neighborhood of the city. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

At 1.59am Sunday, a 33 and 34-year-old man were standing in a group in the Grand Crossing neighborhood in the city when both were shot. The 33 year old was hit in the chest and later pronounced dead.

The gun slayings come as, more than 2,123 people had been recorded shot in Chicago before this weekend, a 12 percent increase from the same period last year, according to ABC News.

In Philadelphia, a string of separate shootings saw five people killed and 11 injured.

In Philadelphia, a string of shootings on Friday and Saturday saw five people killed and 11 injured

The last was reported on Saturday at 9pm, when a a 25-year-old man was shot multiple times in the Toga-Nicetown section of the neighborhood, ABC6 reported.

At 5am Saturday morning police found a man shot lying in the parking lot of a gas station at around 5am in Philadelphia’s Wynnefield neighborhood. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Before that, two men, aged 25 and 30, were shot multiple times at around midnight Saturday in the city’s Tioga-Nicetown neighborhood, leaving the 25 year old in critical condition. The 30 year old died from his injuries.

In the southwest area of the city, a man was shot and killed at around 2am Saturday in a Rite Aid parking lot, and shortly after that a man in his 30s was shot in the head and killed at around 3am in the city’s Kensington neighborhood.

No arrests had been made in any of the shootings, police reported.

As of this weekend, 1,333 had been shot in Philadelphia this year, a 19 percent increase over the same period in 2020.

In New York, the city saw three gun homicides in a four hour span on Saturday, and a shooting spree on Sunday that injured 16 in the span of about 90 minutes.

New York City also saw its share of gun violence. Police are pictured at the scene of a party shooting in Brooklyn at 12.30am Monday, when eight people were shot and injured

The killing started at 12.20am Saturday, when a man was found lying next to a motorcycle with a bullet wound to the head in the Bronx. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Then, at around 1am, a 38-year-old man was shot in Queens, and was rushed to a hospital where he too was pronounced dead.

Finally at 4 am a 27-year-old man was shot and killed while standing on the street in the Bronx. Alongside him was a 23-year-old man who was wounded.

On Sunday, a quick series of shootings began at around 11pm, Pix 11 reported, when three men in their 20s were shot on a street corner in Queens.

Then, a half hour later, a 32-year-old man in Brooklyn was shot in the leg.

In another shooting at 12.25am Monday, eight people were shot and injured at a large party in Brooklyn. The victims ranged in aged from 18 to 27, and one was reportedly struck in the face and left in critical condition.

Just five minutes later, another man was shot in the head in Queens and was also left in critical condition.

Finally, at 12.35am three teenagers were shot and wounded while sitting in an SUV in Brooklyn. The driver, 18, was shot in the head and he was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

No arrests have so far been made in the shootings, an they came as 1,109 people have been shot in the city in 2021, a 10.9 percent increase over the same period last year.

(BOSTON, Mass.) TSA REPORT: Travellers caught with throwing stars, other bladed weapons at Logan Airport as incidents are increasing #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – June.23: Sometimes, it can be a bit confusing figuring out whether an item is ok to bring on a plane or whether it needs to be put in a checked bag. According to the TSA, some travelers in Boston attempted to bring a variety of sharp weapons on a plane, including at least one throwing star.

BOSTON: The TSA shared images of the weapons and reminded travelers not to carry them onto planes also another traveller caught with at least 50-bullets in a carry-on-bag at NYC airport according to of Fox News

Throwing stars aren’t meant for the friendly skies.

The TSA New England Twitter account shared images of the confiscated items, which also includes a variety of knives. The tweet doesn’t mention whether or not these items all came from one group of travelers or not.

The tweet states, “Let’s get straight to the point…these items are not allowed in your carry-on bag. Some passengers found that out this weekend when TSA officers at Boston Logan Airport detected these sharp objects. Sheathe these items and put them in your checked bag please!”

These are not the only unusual weapons recently discovered by TSA officers.

Authorities arrested a man at Newark Liberty International Airport when he was caught attempting to sneak a gun past security, NJ.com reports. According to the news outlet, the small weapon was packed in a case within the man’s suitcase and was reportedly designed to look like a belt buckle.

Unfortunately, it was discovered that the gun was functional. The man reportedly claimed that he had forgotten that he had packed the item in his luggage.

In a statement obtained by NJ.com, TSA Federal Security Director for New Jersey Thomas Carter said, “Claiming to forget that you have a gun with you is inexcusable. If you own a gun you need to know where it is at all times. Each of these individuals now faces a stiff federal financial penalty that could cost them thousands of dollars.”

A Jeep mowed down six family members on a Bronx sidewalk early Sunday, leaving one woman in critical condition — in what the victims believe was a targeted attack, according to police.

It struck six people, all of whom were related, pinning a 60-year-old man and 34-year-old woman underneath, the NYPD said.

The pair were eventually freed by firefighters and a police rescue team.

All six were taken to Lincoln Hospital, where the woman was in critical condition, the NYPD said. Her injuries included a broken pelvis, sources said.

The other five family members were left with minor injuries, the sources said — and the group told police that they believe they were intentionally targeted.

“We were just talking normally until a car came out of nowhere and hit us, with no particular reason,” one unidentified family member told WABC, saying they were just there to “chill” in a “small gathering.”

“It wasn’t an accident, because the way they came from, they were speeding up for us,” he said, estimating that the Jeep was being driven at around 60 mph when it crashed.

So far there have been no arrests, police said.

Adams, a former New York Police Department captain who serves as Brooklyn borough president, said the stabbing occurred at 149th St and Morris Ave.

The New York Police Department told Fox News that the stabbing happened just before 2:45 p.m.  They said officers encountered a “42-year-old male with multiple stab wounds.”

EMS arrived on the scene and transferred the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, police said.

He remains in stable condition.

Police said that a “male perpetrator” fled the scene of the crime and remains at large. No arrests have been made. It remains unclear how many suspects were involved.

Democratic mayoral candidate Eric Adams greets supporters during a campaign event, Thursday, June 17, 2021, in the Harlem neighborhood of New York.

Adams, who has taken a tough on crime approach compared with that of his opponents, called for the violence in New York City to come to an end.

The stabbing comes just two days ahead of the Democratic primary for New York City’s next mayor. Adams’ Democratic rivals sent their condolences on Twitter.

“My thoughts are with he and his family and my heart hurts for Team Adams today,” tweeted mayor candidate and civil rights lawyer Maya Wiley.”

“Horrible news. My thoughts are with your volunteer, their family, and your entire team, Eric,” wrote former presidential candidate Andrew Yang.

Another top candidate, Kathryn Garcia tweeted she was “pained” to hear about the stabbing.

“Sending love to his family and thinking of the team and volunteers,” she tweeted.

Recent polls have suggested that Adams is the favorite among the Democratic candidates, getting ranked first by a little less than a quarter of likely voters.

Fox News has reached out to Adams’ campaign team with a request for comment.
