(ISRAEL) RT Underground Report: Criticism of the killing of a senior Iranian military researcher voiced by the ex-head of the CIA seems misplaced considering that his chief Barack Obama ordered targeted assassinations himself, a former Mossad head believes #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Apr.08: Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was gunned down in December 2020 what many, including top Iranian officials, believe to be a clandestine Israeli operation:

‘RT’s Going Underground spoke to Efraim Halevy, the former head of Israeli secret service Mossad, to discuss the high-profile assassination, criticism of the move coming from some senior intelligence figures in the US, and what possible goals may have been behind it. John Brennan, the head of the CIA under Barack Obama, reacted to the killing with remarkably harsh words calling it a “criminal act,”“highly reckless” and possibly an “act of state-sponsored terrorism” that would be “a flagrant violation of international law.”

‘Criminal act’: Ex-CIA chief urges Iran to wait on ‘return of responsible US leaders’ before reacting to nuclear scientist killing https://ift.tt/3orTuBE

The characterization does not seem genuine coming from Brennan, Halevy said, considering that “American organizations and agencies in the past have carried out similar acts when they believed that an individual was endangering the national security of their country.”

I think that name-calling is not a very good idea in this kind of activity.

Brennan was the one official in the Obama administration to formally acknowledge for the first time that the CIA was running the highly controversial program of targeted drone assassinations. He insists that killing “terrorist leaders & operatives” is fundamentally different to what happened to Fakhrizadeh. Halevy pointed out that Fakhrizadeh was not merely a scientist but also a high-ranking officer in the IRGC, Iran’s powerful military wing. He refused to assess whether targeting him was legitimate or not, saying such judgements don’t belong to retired officials. He also noted that as a political tool such killings were very limited. “Targeted assassinations have the value of the moment and they are important as such,” he said. “But if you are looking for a strategic change as a result of such an operation you will not find it.” RT also spoke about the situation with Sam Medhi Torabi, director of the Risalat Strategic Studies Institute in Iran, who said if Israel expected Iran to lash out after Fakhrizadeh’s murder and subject itself to retaliation, people in charge there don’t really know Iran. The assassination “is not going to take Iran away from its strategic goal,” he said. “Iran’s strategic goal is to drive out, expel the Americans from West Asia. It’s going to happen, the only issue is how it is going to happen,” he assured. Watch the episode to learn more.

#AceNewsReport – Dec.16: Report: Obama administration didn’t more respond forcefully to Russian hacking because they thought #HillaryClinton would win, didn’t want to risk potential cyber war with Russia, sources say – NBC News http://nbcnews.to/2gGSNkG

In a clip from an interview set to air on Friday’s broadcast of NPR’s “Morning Edition,” President Barack Obama expressed his intent to take action against Russia for its alleged effort to impact the “integrity” of last month’s election.

Obama said that action may be “explicit and publicised” and some of it may not be, adding Russian President Vladimir Putin was aware of Obama’s sentiment on the issue.

“I think there is no doubt that when any foreign government tries to impact the integrity of our elections that we need to take action,” Obama said. “And we will — at a time and place of our own choosing. Some of it may be explicit and publicized.

Some of it may not be. But Mr. Putin is aware of my feelings about this because I spoke to him directly about it.”

Iran says it has moved 11 tons of heavy water to Oman
// The Times of Israel
The head of Iran’s nuclear program, Ali Akbar Salehi, was quoted by official media Tuesday as saying that the heavy water, which is used to cool reactors that produce plutonium, was transferred to the Arab country. Oman often serves as a mediator between Iran and the West.

On Sunday, Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said that the heavy water was being transferred to Oman for sale, as several foreign firms and countries

A recent report from the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency said that Iran exceeded its heavy water limit by 100 kilograms (220 pounds) over the 130 metric tons allowed under last year’s nuclear agreement, a small but significant violation, drawing criticicism from the head of the UN’s atomic watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, for Tehran’s second breach this year of the 2015 nuclear deal with major powers.

(Left to right) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif , IAEA director general Yukiya Amano and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini arrive for a news conference in Vienna on January 16, 2016 (AFP / APA / HANS PUNZ)

“It is important that such situations should be avoided in the future in order to maintain international confidence in the implementation” of the deal, Yukiya Amano, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said last week in Vienna.

Heavy water, a modified form of normal water, is used in certain types of nuclear reactors.

The 2015 nuclear deal, known officially as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, states that Iran’s “needs” are estimated to be around 130 metric tons of heavy water.

The 2015 nuclear accord went into effect in January to cap Tehran’s nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

US president-elect Donald Trump has said his “number-one priority is to dismantle the disastrous deal with Iran,” and that “we will enforce it like you’ve never seen a contract enforced before, folks, believe me,” leading to much speculation on the future of the nuclear deal.

WASHINGTON McConnell: ‘ Obama negotiating massive #TP Trade Agreement not to target Tobacco growers – setting precedent’

#AceNewsReport – WASHINGTON:July.31: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is warning U.S. officials negotiating a massive trans-Pacific trade agreement for President Obama not to target tobacco growers in a final deal.

In a letter to Obama’s top trade representative, McConnell said singling out the tobacco industry would set a dangerous precedent for future trade deals.

The missive from McConnell suggests that congressional approval for the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade deal with 11 other countries that is the central goal of Obama’s trade policy, could be jeopardized by the tobacco language.

WASHINGTON: ‘ Skiing and Politicking on the Taxpayer Dime ‘

#AceNewsReport – WASHINGTON:June.16:When Daniel Craig returns as Agent 007 James Bond this fall, he will be appearing in one of the most expensive spy films ever made. SPECTRE, like many Bond films before it, includes a high-speed ski chase.

Fortunately, the American taxpayer wasn’t forced to pony up for the elaborate production’s ski escapade costs. (I’m sure the producers of any movie would happily have accepted the financial support.) Unfortunately, however, the taxpayers were forced to pay, and pay through the nose, for Michelle Obama’s ski weekend escapade in pricey, trendy Aspen, Colorado, this past February.

This is what we learned in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request we made to the U.S. Air Force on February 18, 2015. We asked for:

  • Any and all records concerning mission taskings relevant to First Lady Michelle Obama’s trip to Aspen, Colorado.

  • Any and all records concerning transportation costs.

  • Any and all passenger manifests for the trip.

The records we obtained from the U.S. Air Force tell us that the First Lady’s trip cost us all a pretty penny.

According to the newly released records, the transportation costs for the four-day trip to Aspen were based on a flight cost of $7,712 an hour for the First Lady, her daughters, and support personnel in the Gulfstream aircraft (as opposed to the $700 that the average American can spend for a roundtrip flight all the way to Europe and back). Not included were the attendant costs for U.S. Secret Service personnel, accommodations, meals, rental cars, lift tickets for skiing at Buttermilk, and related expenses. The $57,068.80 tab Mrs. Obama and her daughters ran up in travel expenses alone for their weekend trip is more than 14 times what the average American of four spends for an entire week-long vacation.

It has been apparent to us for some time now that the Obamas abuse taxpayer money with unnecessarily luxurious vacations and travel. How many times did the Obama family travel to Aspen prior to the presidency? Misusing the perks of presidency to travel to luxury hot-spots is an abuse that must end. If Congress is looking to save tax dollars, they might consider trimming the platinum travel budgets of this and future presidents.

Apparently, the ski trip was intended to be low-key, and it may have stayed under the radar had it not been for the Obama’s motorcade having been forced to stop for a two-car collision ahead of them, which closed the road for 40 minutes. Though the Obamas had been allowed to “sneak through while they waited on tow trucks,” according to Aspen Police Chief Brian Olsen, the presence of the First Lady was noticed. The Obama family reportedly stayed at the home of Jim and Paula Crown, a Chicago couple who have been major campaign contributors to President Obama throughout his political career.

Barack and Michelle Obama and other members of their family have traveled more during his presidency than any other first couple, including extensive and costly trips to Spain, Africa, South America, and China, accompanied by staff and often by friends.

Including the Aspen trip, government records indicate that the beyond-first-class travel of the Obamas and Vice President Joe Biden have cost the American people well over $56 million.

The Obamas have trained Vice President Biden well on how to use tax dollars for personal and political use. Air Force records we received in response to a September 19, 2014, FOIA show that Biden’s September 3, 2014, trip to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire cost taxpayers $17,025 in transportation expenses. Biden was in New Hampshire to campaign for Democratic Senate and House candidates.

We had asked for:

1) Any and all records concerning mission taskings of Vice President Biden’s September 3, 2014 trip to New Hampshire;

2) Any and all records concerning transportation costs for Vice President Biden’s September 3, 2014 trip to New Hampshire; and

3) Any and all passenger manifests (DD-2131) for Vice President Biden’s September 3, 2014 trip to New Hampshire.

Biden’s cost included three hours of flight time at $5,675 an hour, which does not include Secret Service expenses or costs incurred by local law enforcement in New Hampshire. While the Obama administration claimed Biden was in New Hampshire to celebrate shipyard workers, it’s clear that he was in campaign mode. London’s Daily Mail reported that Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Rep. Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire, along with Reps. Chellie Pingree and Mike Michaud of Maine, all joined Biden at the shipyard.

And tax dollars are sacrificed on the altar of Mr. Biden’s political ambition.

CNN Politics reported, “The vice president, who’s mulling a 2016 presidential bid, made his remarks at the Portsmouth Naval Yard in a speech about the economy. He was accompanied on stage by U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, a New Hampshire Democrat who’s running for re-election this year.” The dirty little not-so-secret is that candidates, campaigns, and political parties pay nearly nothing for the political use of Air Force One (or Air Force Two).

The Obama family and Biden mistake the Air Force for Uber. The scam of presidents and vice presidents using tax dollars to subsidize candidates running for office must end. Did Shaheen reimburse taxpayers for a reasonable portion of the costs Biden to campaign for her? Our military has been decimated and is under strain. Biden might want to consider this when he next considers using Air Force Two for a trip to New Hampshire or Iowa as he runs for the presidency.

Your JW has been on top of these taxpayer-funded junkets for some time now. See the previous year together with all reports here:

#AceNewsRoom – USA:Feb.19: This is an excellent post from my friend Gary and well worth a read at the link below.

Recent events in Ferguson Missouri that snuffed out the life of Mike Brown is haunting and it reminds me of the 1960’s and 70’s. From 1965 to 1971, I was a staff organizer for theNational Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO), one of the major civil rights organizations. I recall very vividly the rebellions that occurred in Harlem NY, Newark NJ, Detroit, Watts CA, and other urban centers, all of which were precipitated by a white police officer shooting a black youth.

#AceNewsServices – WASHINGTON:Dec.19 – President Obama on Thursday signed five cyber-security bills into law, after an unexpected spate of legislative activity on the issue.

Though we need to go back to Tuesday Feb.12 2013 when President Obama signed an executive order on cybersecurity — an order that aims to increase cyber defenses of our nation’s critical infrastructure, improve information sharing about cyberthreats between the public and private sectors, and establish a framework of cybersecurity best practices.

There has been talk of such an order since August 2012, following the Cybersecurity Act’s failure to pass in Congress. Obama signaled he may invoke his power of executive order to pass similar legislation, and on Sept. 19, 2012, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said the executive order on cybersecurity was “close to completion.”

But it wasn’t quite ready back then, and the White House worked on crafting the order for the last several months, The Hill reported.

Theses five bills won’t satisfy the strongest backers of tough cyber protections, but they should help many government officials beef up their networks and were cheered by supporters when they rushed through Congress in the final days of its 2014 session.

The bills largely direct various arms of government to deal in a more forceful way with cyber issues, but should also clarify current operations. The Cybersecurity Enhancement Act, for instance, allows the Commerce Department to write voluntary standards to protect critical infrastructure and tells the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy to develop a federal cyber research plan.

Most of the bills are aimed at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The National Cybersecurity Protection Act establishes in law the department’s national cybersecurity center, while the Federal Information Security Modernization Act updates 12-year-old federal information security laws.

The Cybersecurity Workforce Assessment Act directs the DHS to build out a new strategy to recruit and hang onto the best and brightest workers in the field, and the Border Patrol Agent Pay Reform Act allows the department to exempt some cyber staffers from normal government hiring rules.

#AceNewsServices – WASHINGTON – Dec.04 – CIA torture report to be published on Monday without the word ‘torture’

Published time: December 04, 2014 17:19

Source: RT Get short URL

Reuters/Kevin Lamarque

Reuters/Kevin Lamarque

The long-awaited publication of the so-called “CIA torture report” is expected to finally occur early next week, but would-be readers, be warned: according to leaks, the executive summary will be absent any and all use of the word “torture.”

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-California), the chair of the United States Senate Intelligence Committee, now says that the public will be able to read the executive summary of her panel’s years-long investigation into the CIA’s use of enhanced interrogation techniques next week, with journalist Jason Leopold reporting that the release of the document will come as early as Monday.

After a lengthy back-and-forth between the Senate committee and the CIA, however, the 600 page summary that will soon be made public — less than one-tenth of the actual report — will be ripe with enough redactions and wordplay to still leave much of the agency’s post-9/11 practices a mystery.

“The summary is expected to reignite the debate over whether the CIA’s coercive interrogation techniques in the first years of the war on terror amounted to torture,” Josh Rogin and Eli Lake wrote for Bloomberg View on Wednesday this week. “Although the summary report is said to not use the word ‘torture,’ officials said it would describe practices that any layman would understand as torture.”

In the midst of the months of delays brought on by bickering between the Senate and CIA over what to include in the public version of the report, it was reported in July by the Associated Press that people who read the report said the practices described within “amounted to torture by a common definition.”

“This report tells a story of which no American is proud,” reads part of a State Department document about the Senate panel’s findings that was sent to the White House over the summer and subsequently received by journalists at AP. Indeed, Reuters reported this week that the report concludes that harsh CIA interrogation tactics, including the simulated drowning technique known as “water-boarding,” as well as sleep deprivation and other acts tantamount to torture, provided the US with no intelligence breakthroughs that could have been achieved by other non-coercive means.

The leaked copy of White House talking points obtained by the AP over the summer in anticipation of the eventual release of the report acknowledged that the government will likely be asked, “Isn’t it clear that the CIA engaged in torture as defined in the Torture Convention?” The next day, US President Barack Obama made headlines after offering arguably the most blatant official recognition yet from the executive branch concerning the practices authorized by his predecessor in the wake of September 11 terrorist attacks.

“In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, we did some things that were wrong. We did a whole lot of things that were right, but we tortured some folks. We did things that were contrary to our values,” Pres. Obama said.

Nevertheless, indications from this week suggest that the Senate agreed to omit use of the t-word; according to Bloomberg, both Feinstein’s panel and the CIA agreed to certain concessions through negotiations brokered by the White House through Obama’s chief of staff, Denis McDonough: Rogin and Lake wrote that staffers in the Senate Intelligence Committed objected vigorously to hundreds of redactions the CIA had proposed in the executive summary,” but ultimately both sides had to make sacrifices.

“Among the most significant of Feinstein’s victories, the report will retain information on countries that aided the CIA program by hosting black sites or otherwise participating in the secret rendition of suspected terrorists,” reads part of Wednesday’s Bloomberg report. Per the CIA’s request, however, those host nations won’t actually be named, but rather will reportedly by given code names, like “Country A.”

Elsewhere, Bloomberg reported that Feinstein reluctantly agreed to another request from the CIA: according to this week’s article, the pseudonymous fake names used by undercover agents have been redacted from the executive summary as well. Previously, the New York Times reported that the White House supported the CIA’s stance regarding the matter.

“Hopefully they won’t redact too much and hopefully the White House won’t let them get away with redacting too much,” Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin told The Daily Beast in July. “Until you see what they are going to redact, it’s hard to know what material you have to work with.”

In late August, Sen. Feinstein told “Meet the Press” that her committee was engaged with the Obama administration to ensure that redactions to the executive summary do not destroy the report.”

“If you redact the evidence — heavily — then we cannot sustain our findings. We will not put out a report that does not enable us to sustain our findings. And I believe that that is understood,” Feinstein said then, adding that she expected the summary to be public by late September. Two months later, though, the New York Times reported that Democrats in charge of the Senate were accusing the White House of “trying to censor significant details” of the report, and that negotiations between the Senate and CIA managed by the White House were responsible for the delays.

On her part, Feinstein acknowledged previously that the report “uncovers startling details about the CIA detention and interrogation program and raises critical questions about intelligence operations and oversight.” Her committee’s $40 million, three-years-in-the-making investigation has been stymied in recent months after a stand-off erupted between the Senate panel and the CIA concerning allegations of spying concerning both parties. In late July, the CIA conceded that its officers had penetrated a Senate computer network used by staffers working on the report.

According to Reuters, the forthcoming executive summary includes 20 findings from the Senate about the results of the CIA program, as well as 200 pages of history on the topic, a rebuttal from the CIA and a dissent from congressional Republicans.

#AceNewsServices – RHODE ISLAND – November 06 – Speaking in Rhode Island on Halloween, Obama said, “Sometimes, someone, usually mom, leaves the workplace to stay home with the kids, which then leaves her earning a lower wage for the rest of her life as a result. And that’s not a choice we want Americans to make.”

“That’s not a choice we want Americans to make.”

To be a stay-at-home mom? No stay-at-home moms in America, then?

Oh really? Shouldn’t it not be a choice women have to make?

And “we”? Who in the hell is “we”? Who cares what choice the government wants women to make in their personal/professional lives anyway? As a mom, I don’t consult King Obama and his band of merry morons every time I make a parenting decision, and frankly, I am scared of any parent who would.

Obama broke a law, and nobody in the USA noticed! This surrounds the Bergdahl trade of prisoners of war and Obama’s Muslim connection!

Obama and the parents of Bowe Bergdahl

Section 1035 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014 requires the following before the transfer or release of a Guantanamo detainee:

• The Secretary of Defense must determine that the risk posed by the detainee will be substantially mitigated and that the transfer is in the national security interests of the United States.

• The Secretary of Defense must notify the appropriate committees of Congress at least 30 days before the transfer or release of a Guantanamo detainee.

• The Secretary of Defense must provide detailed information regarding the circumstances of the transfer or release along with the notification, including how the risk posed by the detainee will be substantially mitigated, the security arrangements in the receiving country, and an assessment of the capacity, willingness, and past practices of the receiving country

The above is the crux of the law breaking. Obama traded the lives of 6 American troops to free Bowe Robert Bergdahl. I ask, and many ask, was it worth. Also Obama traded prisoners. America and most countries do not trade with Terrorists, so we have to ask what made Obama do this? Did he think he was doing the right thing? Or am I right when I ask the question, does Obama truly have links to the Muslim Brotherhood? I asked already here http://shaunynews.com/2014/05/08/obama-and-the-muslim-connection-disturbing-photo-of-obama-depicted-as-a-king/ Pfc. Matthew Michael Martinek, of Illinois; 2nd Lt. Darryn Deen Andrews; Staff Sgt. Clayton Patrick Bowen; Pfc. Morris “Mo” Lewis Walker; Staff Sgt. Kurt Robert Curtiss; Staff Sgt. Michael Chance Murphrey all died looking for him

A trade that makes no sense!

I ask you all, if interested to go to page 216 of this PDF http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CPRT-113HPRT86280/pdf/CPRT-113HPRT86280.pdf This is the NATIONAL DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION ACT FOR FISCAL YEAR 2014. Nobody wants to see people die, but what about Pfc. Matthew Michael Martinek, of Illinois; 2nd Lt. Darryn Deen Andrews; Staff Sgt. Clayton Patrick Bowen; Pfc. Morris “Mo” Lewis Walker; Staff Sgt. Kurt Robert Curtiss; Staff Sgt. Michael Chance Murphrey who died looking for him? And who did Obama release? Obama freed these 5 Taliban commanders for one Solder, who had already killed 6 US Military men as they looked for him

Something is not right. Obama has gave BILLIONS of Dollars to Muslim countries and it is well known Obama’s half Brother Malik Obama below

As usual, do your own research, know why you want to look, be careful what to believe and keep asking why Obama is so nice to Muslim countries DO NOT forget the image of a USA Military man saying “I will not fight for Al Qaeda” This is the same Al Qaeda we are told did 9/11. So I am simply asking, if we piece this puzzle together what do we get?

Yeah we get a story, high suspicion and lies. Call me wrong, call me a liar, but I have provided truth every step of the way

Obama talks about Scottish Independence, but can’t help his own people !

Really annoyed at this one today, Obama met with UK leader and Eton boy David Cameron and Obama HAD to have a say on Scottish Independence. Well I ask, did he? I mean this was a PR stunt of the highest order. Should Scotland leave the UK, there will still be England, Wales and Northern Ireland in the Union, in reality American would have a new friend in a free Scotland

Coming from a man who stands back and watches hundreds of his own people die every day due to no Health Care and spends more on Islam than he does on his own people, I think this is a slap in the face to each and every American who actually cares about Scotland leaving the Union/UK, and I am guessing these numbers would be very low. For Obama to stand and say these things slaps in the face of Scotland also. Who is he to tell us what we can or can’t vote. I think speaking to many Scottish people this evening many are very annoyed at Obama having the cheek to even remark on this issue and his remarks were so far from the truth it is untrue, many in the World will lap his words up but up here in Scotland we all laughed and shook our heads at a disaster of a PR by David Cameron

What gives Obama the right to dictate to anyone. He can’t run his own Country properly. If I could send one message to Obama it would be “No matter what happens Mr President, you will still have the UK as a partner” He had no right to stick his mouth into any debate. I am not angry at this I am fuming! I am mad! This was David Cameron asking Obama to help his cause for a NO Vote on September 18th.

Thankfully the people of Scotland are FAR more clever than this propaganda and have as I though we would laughed this stupid stunt off. It was rediculous, ill timed, not right and since when does Obama have a say on these matter? Again, NO MATTER the outcome, the UK will still exist. This is media crap and I urge every Scottish person to ignore it and laugh at it for exactly what it is. A stupid remark rehearsed in advance on a people who have a bigger IQ than Obama does. Scotland won’t fall for this propaganda rubbish

` Barack Obama and Petro Poroshenko Shake Hands on Military Deal ‘

#AceNewsServicesUNITED STATES– June 04  – The US has pledged additional military help to Ukraine as well as potential training of its law enforcement and military personnel.

President Obama’s vows comes as Kiev continues air strikes as a part of its military operation in south-eastern Ukraine.

The US has pledged additional military help to Ukraine as well as potential training of its law enforcement and military personnel. President Obama’s vows comes as Kiev continues air strikes as a part of its military operation in south-eastern Ukraine.

Obama pledges $1bn for more troops, military drills in E. Europe

Since March, the White House has approved more than $23 million in security assistance to Ukraine. Now the US is providing additional $5 million aid for “the provision of body armour, night vision goggles and additional communications equipment.”

The White House said other aid for Ukraine has included 300,000 ready-to-eat meals and financing for medical supplies, helmets, hand-held radios and other equipment.

The United States is absolutely committed to standing behind the Ukrainian people not just in the coming days, weeks, but in the coming years,” Obama said.

Obama said it was critical that other countries also support Poroshenko and Ukraine’s new government, including by training its military and police.

Obama’s statement comes a day after he pledged to invest $1 billion in stepping up the US military presence in Eastern Europe amid the Ukrainian crisis.

So far the US has deployed 600 troops for military drills in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland.

“As allies, we have a solemn duty – a binding treaty obligation – to defend your territorial integrity. And we will,” Obama said, according to Reuters. “Poland will never stand alone. Estonia will never stand alone. Latvia will never stand alone. Lithuania will never stand alone. Romania will never stand alone.”

At a separate meeting in Brussels, NATO has said that as an alliance it will not provide military assistance to Ukraine, although individual member states can do so.

NATO said it would “will finalize a comprehensive package of long-term measures to make Ukraine’s reforms more effective and its armed forces stronger” later this month.

“We agreed that we will continue to reinforce NATO’s collective defence with more air and sea patrols and more exercises and training from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea and the Mediterranean,” NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said.

President Obama has called Poroshenko’s victory in the May 25 election a“wise selection.”

Confirmed: Ukrainian air force fired over 150 missiles at Lugansk, bombed admin HQ

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Obama said the two discussed Poroshenko’s plan to restore peace, increase GDP and reduce the country’s economic dependence on Russia.

“In my discussions with him today it’s clear he understands the hopes and aspirations of the Ukrainian people,” Obama said.

Billionaire Petro Poroshenko won Ukraine’s May 25 presidential election and will be sworn in as the country’s new leader on Saturday.

Poroshenko announced that Kiev would step up its military operation shortly after exit polls predicted his victory in the election, saying that Kiev’s activities in the southeast of the country “will be more effective and military units must be better equipped.”

Following Poroshenko’s statement, the situation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions significantly deteriorated as clashes between self-defence forces and Kiev troops intensified. In the course of the following two days, Kiev deployed fighter jets and helicopters to attack Donetsk International Airport.

In Lugansk, Kiev admitted firing “more than 150 missiles” from fighter jets on Monday alone.

The total death toll as a result of the so-called “anti-terrorist” operation has so far been put at 181 people, including 59 of the ruling regime’s troops. Another 293 injured people were injured. These figures were stated by the country’s Prosecutor General, Oleg Makhnitsky, on Tuesday. However, it is unclear if the number of fatalities includes self-defense forces as well.

On Wednesday, the spokesman for the anti-terrorist operation, Vladislav Seleznev, said that 300 self-defense fighters had been killed in the last 24 hours.

However, self-defence units denied these numbers, saying their losses in the last day were far fewer – two killed and 45 injured.

` Commander of Al-Qaeda Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi Facing Life Imprisonment is Charged with War Crimes ‘

#AceNewsServices – WASHINGTON – June 03 – Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi is facing life in prison after being accused of a number of war crimes as a commander of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, including plotting roadside bombing attacks, treachery and denying quarter, which involves refusing to allow the enemy to surrender.

He is also being charged with attacking protected property and for orchestrating attacks on a military medical helicopter.

Prosecutors will argue that Hadi was a senior Al-Qaeda commander and lead operations against US and coalition forces in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq. Hadi has been held at the US prison in Cuba since April 2007.

(NYT) – WASHINGTON – February 14 2014 – Prosecutors for the military commission trials at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, disclosed in a document posted Friday that they had added a charge of conspiracy against an Iraqi detainee, potentially setting up a test of whether Congress has the power to make conspiracy a prosecutable offence in a war-crimes tribunal despite its not being recognized as an international war crime.

The detainee, Abd al Hadi al Iraqi, had already been facing a series of terrorism-related charges. But the addition of the conspiracy offense gives his case a larger significance, because the legitimacy of using the tribunals to bring that charge has been the subject of heated debate.

Establishing such legitimacy could help make the commissions more useful in future terrorism cases.

Last year, a panel on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit threw out the conviction of a detainee for conspiracy on the grounds that the charge was not recognized under the international laws of war.

The Obama administration has appealed, but if the ruling stands, it sharply undermines the utility of tribunals — as opposed to civilian courts — to sentence people to prison who participated in terrorist groups but are not personally linked to any specific attack.

But the case that is before the appeals court concerned conduct before 2006, when Congress enacted the first version of the Military Commissions Act.

(The military commission act of 2006 removes many human rights that people had enjoyed since the foundation of the U.S) .

Both that law and a 2009 revision say that commissions have jurisdiction to prosecute conspiracy, raising the question of whether conduct after 2006 may legitimately lead to conspiracy charges before a tribunal.

After his capture in late 2006 or early 2007, Mr. Al Iraqi was held by the Central Intelligence Agency before his transfer to military custody in April 2007, making him among the last detainees to arrive at Guantánamo. He is accused of being a high-level emissary from Al Qaeda to terrorists in Iraq.

Obama Pledges $1bn (£600m) To Boost Military In Europe

President Obama could meet President Putin at D-Day commemorations (Via Sky News)

Instead of feeding starving Americans, or housing homeless Americans, or building Schools, helping with Obamacare, Obama has decided to spend £600 Million Pounds (or) $1 Billion Dollars to curry favour with Allies that may or may not side with Russia in the coming War. I get influencing friends to take sides, but at the expense of his own people, with the PetroDollar dying a death, this is just another kick in the teeth for the American people. Obama is circling Russia and I am guessing it won’t be long till 1 American soldier is shot at

Barack Obama has promised $1bn to bolster its military influence in Europe amid worries of more land grabs by the Kremlin. The US president said extra military equipment would be sent to the region in the wake of the Ukraine crisis, and that more American troops would take part in military exercises. “We need to make sure that the collective defence … is robust, it is ready, it is properly equipped,” the US President told a press conference in Warsaw. “Today, I’m announcing a new initiative to bolster the support of our Nato allies here in Europe,” Obama said at Warsaw’s Belweder Palace. “Under this effort, and with the support of Congress, the United States will preposition more equipment in Europe.” There are worries that states on Russia’s western borders could be at threat after the country took control of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula.

President Obama’s plan also proposes more regular naval deployments in the Black Sea and Baltic Sea, right on Russia’s doorstep. No announcement was made on permanent US troop deployments in Europe but the White House said it would review the matter. “We are reviewing our force presence in Europe in the light of the new security challenges on the continent,” it said in a statement. “These efforts will not come at the expense of other defence priorities, such as our commitment to the Asia Pacific rebalance.”

There are fears President Putin’s military could move into other countries (Via Sky News)

The extra $1bn (£600m) will also help boost the defence capability of Western-friendly states bordering Russia, such as Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. For example, through extra training for their troops. The European Reassurance Initiative – as the plan is called – must first be signed off by the US Congress. President Obama was speaking at a joint news conference with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski at he beginning of a four-day visit to Europe. He also urged other Nato members to do more to help the alliance’s defence role, although he admitted the US had to play the biggest role. Nato states have a target of spending 2% of GDP on defence, but many lag behind. “Everyone has the capacity to do their fair share, to do a proportional amount to make sure we have the resources, the planning, the integration, the training in order to be effective,” said the President. The US leader’s remarks come ahead of a potential meeting with Russia President Vladimir Putin at D-Day commemorations in France. The pair have no meeting scheduled but White House officials have not ruled one out. The men have not met since the Ukraine crisis began. “Mr Putin has a choice to make,” Obama said, speaking about the Russian leader reining in pro-Kremlin troops in Ukraine. “That’s what I will tell him if I see him publicly. That’s what I have told him privately
