Detective Chief Inspector Kelly said: “Today’s search and arrest operation is the latest in our proactive investigation into suspected drugs criminality linked to East Belfast UVF. We will continue to work to expose the hypocrisy of these drug criminals, who hide behind the badge of paramilitaries. On the one hand they sell drugs to vulnerable people to line their own pockets and on the other they are shooting and beating those they believe are involved in the supply of drugs leaving nothing but a trail of misery in their wake. They remain a priority for the PCTF due to the Human Rights abuses they carry out against their local community: Police, working with our partners and communities, are committed to tackling the scourge of this type of organised criminality. We will continue to proactively and robustly pursue these drug criminals and bring them before the courts.”

Anyone with any information or concerns regarding criminality in the community can contact police on 101, or submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/……

(BELFAST, N.I) PSNI REPORT: Ending Harm Campaign: Caused by illegal money lenders has recently been launched as part of tackling Paramilitarism and gangs #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – June.16: The Police Service of Northern Ireland is supporting the ‘Ending the Harm’ campaign launched today which aims to raise awareness of the devastating impact that illegal money lenders have on the wider community.

The “Ending the Harm” campaign, which is part of the Tackling Paramilitarism Programme, is aimed at highlighting the harm caused by paramilitary gangs, directly addressing the ‘societal shrug’ towards some paramilitary gang practices and this campaign represents another iteration of that.

crest-centred.png

Speaking at today’s launch Assistant Chief Constable Bobby Singleton said: “This campaign highlights the devastating impact that illegal money lenders have, not only on victims, but their families, the local community and wider society: The people who purport to be helping people by offering them loans when they feel they have nowhere else to turn are not doing it for nothing. They will always want something in return – and I don’t just mean a hefty interest rate. In the long run they will want more than their money back. They will charge you exorbitant interest rates and set unrealistic pay back targets. They will tell you that you are in their debt forever, they will threaten you and coerce you into getting involved in their criminal world, for example, they may tell you that you have to peddle their drugs for them, or ‘handle’ criminal property: My message is simple. Policing works for communities, particularly for those communities that engage and work with us. We are targeting the groups and individuals we suspect are responsible for exploiting the most vulnerable in our community: There are obvious difficulties in getting victims of illegal money lenders to come forward due to fear but the Police are far from powerless when it comes to dealing with these people who are exploiting their own communities: Ultimately we all have a role to play in creating a safer society and ending the harm caused by these criminals.

“If you are in debt and feel you have nowhere to go please know that there is independent help available, Advice NI, which is an independent charity, offers confidential advice to anyone who finds themselves in this situation. For totally independent advice you can contact Advice NI on 0800 915 4604.”

The Police Service of Northern Ireland is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that will assist the investigation to contact us on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

(BELFAST, N.I.) PSNI REPORT: A man in his 50s has been shot in the legs by masked men in the Waterside in Londonderry in the second such attack in the city within three days after previous violence across the capital that injured 14-officers #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Apr.16: The Police Service of Northern Ireland described the latest shooting as a “ruthless attack” ……Those who carry out these shootings have no regard for the trauma they are causing either to the victim or anyone in the vicinity of the attack,” it said:

Londonderry: Second man shot in legs in city this week: It happened at a house at Whitethorn Drive in Currynierin at about 23:00 BST on Thursday: Two men forced their way into the house before shooting the man a number of times in the legs & on Tuesday a man in his 20s was shot in what police said was a “paramilitary-style assault” in the Bogside.

The shooting on Thursday night happened in the Currynierin area of the city

Derry’s Mayor Brian Tierney said his thoughts were with the injured man and his family after the “brutal” shooting on Thursday: “This isn’t something we want in any of our estates or any of our streets,” he said:

‘Shootings need to stop’

“It only instils fear and intimidates an entire community when people are running around acting as judge, jury and executioner.

“I wholeheartedly condemn the actions of anyone who decides it is a good idea to take the law into their own hands.”

It is the seventh shooting in Derry since the start of this year.

Mr Tierney, an SDLP councillor, said he would raise his concerns about the recent gun attacks with police on Friday:

Sinn Fein councillor Paul Fleming said the attacks “need to stop immediately”.

“There is no place for these type of incidents in our society and those behind them need to realise that and go away,” he said.

Detectives have asked anyone with information about the attacks to contact them.

Last Week on Saturday 10th April: 14 officers injured in latest Belfast disorder

crest-resized.jpg

Police are investigating further disorder in Belfast last night: The disorder occurred in various parts of the city including Duncairn Gardens -Tigers Bay area, and North Queen Street: During the disorder, which started shortly after 5pm, petrol bombs and masonry, including roof tiles, were thrown at police. There was an attempt to hijack vehicles on Limestone Road and, on North Queen Street, a car was hijacked and set on fire and pushed towards police lines: Three male teenagers, all aged 14 years old, were arrested during the disorder and they have all been released pending further enquiries: As a result of the disorder on North Queen Street, 14 officers were injured bringing the total number of officers injured during recent disorder to 88.

Chief Inspector Darren Fox said: “These were disgraceful scenes, which lasted until approximately 1am, that unfolded on the streets of our city last night. This was reckless and dangerous criminal behaviour which resulted in a number of our officers sustaining injury. Thankfully, most of these injuries are not serious. However, a male officer was knocked unconscious and required hospital treatment. As you can imagine, none of our officers go out expecting to be attacked in this way: “ Again, we reiterate our message that this shameful and senseless behaviour is achieving nothing other than wrecking local communities. Residents in these areas, or indeed anywhere, do not want or deserve to experience the fear many of them will have felt in recent nights: “ I am appealing to all those with influence to help bring this violence to an end and, to parents, guardians and community leaders, we ask that you use your influence to ensure we do not see a repeat of such disorder: “ The community can be reassured we will continue to work to keep people safe, and an investigation is underway and evidence gathered will now be reviewed and those identified will face the full rigour of the law.”

” Pakistani & Taliban `Peace Talks’ breakdown due to `Militants’ executing `Twenty Three’ Paramilitary Soldiers”

#AceWorldNews says that `Peace Talks’ between the Pakistani government and Taliban insurgents broke down on Monday after militants executed 23 paramilitary soldiers, Reuters reported.

The Taliban’s arm operating in the tribal Mohmand agency said the Pakistani soldiers had been executed in revenge for the killing of their fighters by army forces.

It was not immediately clear if the Mohmand Taliban actions had been endorsed by the movement’s central command. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that “such incidents are affecting the peace talks negatively,” adding that Pakistan “cannot afford such bloodshed.”
