#AceWorldNews – MOSCOW – June 02 – The Russian delegation will not take part in the June session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), according to Aleksey Pushkov, the chairman of the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee.
“We temporarily broke off the cooperation with the assembly while sanctions are in effect against our delegation,” he told Izvestia daily. Sergey Naryshkin, the State Duma speaker, informed the PACE leadership about Moscow’s decision in late May.

#AceWorldNews – MOSCOW – April 14 – The State Duma and Federation Council lower and upper houses of the Russian parliament would shortly decide on whether participation of the Russian delegation in PACE activity was expedient, upper house’s deputy speaker Ilyas Umakhanov told a news conference on Monday.
“The parliamentary delegation may suspend its membership as there is no particular reason in being dumb and keep attending sessions of its commissions, committees, plenary sessions to hear them ‘picking you to pieces’,” the senator said.
#AceWorldNews – PACE – April 10 – (NEOnline) – The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), has suspend Russia from the Assembly.
PACE said that “Russia’s annexation of Crimea was “in clear contradiction with the Statute of the Council of Europe” and the commitments Russia made when it joined the organisation in 1996, has decided to suspend the voting rights of the Russian delegation, as well as its right to be represented in the Assembly’s leading bodies, and its right to participate in election observation missions, effective until the end of the 2014 session (26 January 2015).”

#AceWorldNews – STRASBOURG – April 09 – The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Wednesday will hold an “urgent debate” on the situation in Ukraine.
The Assembly intends to pass a resolution containing strong criticism of Russia’s actions relating to reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation.
#AceWorldNews – STRASBOURG – April 08 – The PACE Monitoring Committee has passed a draft resolution depriving the Russian delegation of its right to vote at the Assembly until year’s end for Russia’s incorporation of Crimea, Leonid Slutskiy, the deputy head of the Russian delegation to PACE and the head of the Russian State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, told journalists on Tuesday.
The move came definitely in a bid to punish Russia for its incorporation of Crimea, Leonid Slutskiy added.
While rejecting a motion to freeze the Russian delegation’s powers, as proposed by Britain’s Robert Walter, the Committee, in fact, voted for a softer option.
Walter’s proposal, however, can still be ‘reanimated’ in the form of amendments to the draft resolution that PACE will keep receiving until Wednesday, April 9.
PACE will consider a report on the Russian delegation’s powers on Thursday, April 10.
