(VATICAN) JUST IN: Germany’s top Roman Catholic cleric, Cardinal Reinhard Marx, has offered his resignation to the Pope over the Church’s child sexual abuse scandals #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Jun.05: It is important to me to share the responsibility for the catastrophe of the sexual abuse by Church officials over the past decades,” he said in a letter to Pope Francis.

ROME: Top German cleric asks to quit over Church sex abuse failures: The statement in German on the Munich archbishop’s website says his letter was dated 21 May. The Pope has asked him to remain in his post pending a decision on his resignation offer.

Cardinal Marx, 3 Mar 20
BBC News

He is the Archbishop of Munich. The Pope is still considering his offer.

Pope Francis has sent two bishops to Cologne to investigate abuse cases.

In 2018, a study commissioned by the Church itself found that more than 3,600 children in Germany had been sexually assaulted by Roman Catholic priests between 1946 and 2014.

Only 38% of the alleged perpetrators were prosecuted, with most facing only minor disciplinary procedures. About one in six cases involved rape. Most of the victims were boys, and more than half were aged 13 or younger.

In his letter, Cardinal Marx said investigations in recent years had revealed “a lot of personal failure and administrative mistakes” but also “institutional or systemic failure” in relation to child sex abuse.

Cardinal Marx said in his letter that the Church had come to “a dead end”. He said that with his resignation the Church could perhaps “make a fresh start, a new departure”.

“I want to show that it’s not the institution in the foreground, but the mission of the gospel.”

Cardinal Marx has a liberal reputation and has often called for reform of the Church, the BBC’s Damien McGuinness reports from Berlin.

The German Catholic Church has been rocked by allegations that some Church leaders covered up past child abuse. Conservative Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki, Archbishop of Cologne, is particularly under fire, our correspondent says.

In March, Cardinal Woelki refused to resign, despite an independent report which revealed many breaches of duty by clerics in his Cologne Archdiocese. The report named more than 300 sexual abuse victims, after examination of Church records.

Cardinal Woelki has said he welcomes the Pope’s decision to send two bishops to investigate the handling of abuse allegations, and would support them in their work.

In March the cardinal said his resignation would have been “the easier path”. “By staying in office I’m taking on responsibility for what I have started in Cologne: unsparing full revelation.”

Pope Francis’ upcoming visit to European Parliament and the Council of Europe may serve as a wake-up call to Europe to adjust its role in the world, an expert in international relations told CNA Oct. 30.

Fabio Petito, senior lecturer in international relations at Sussex University, said that “the Pope’ visit to Strasbourg may be crucial, since it is the first time we have a non-European Pope who visits the places of European institutions.”

“This provide an opportunity: a non-European Pope will bring to Europe the non-European world’s issues,” thus helping the European institutions in “integrating their views” and eventually to “put into action more clever politics, for example in the eastern front,” Petito suggested.

Petito spoke at a seminar held in Milan and organized by the Institute for International Political Studies and the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs. Petito presented a paper along with Scott Thomas, as senior lecturer in international relations and the politics of developing countries at the University of Bath.

The seminar focused on “Foreign policy and religious engagement: the special case of Italy,” and explored how the Italian government could strengthen its policy-making by engaging with religious agents.

It ended up being a more wide-ranging discussion on the way several countries have developed a dialogue with religious figures; for example, the U.S. state department has established an office of faith-based community initiatives to reach out to religious leaders and to engage with faith communities.

Thomas told CNA that a wider interest in religious actors may be profitable for every country, not just Italy.

“Given the variety of global social trends that are affecting all the countries – from the rise of the global south, to the religious cultural context that is emerging in global powers, to the rise of a global middle class – and that are involving always more people who are religious, I would say that the role of the Holy See as a global actor, able to engage with this new world, suggests a real opportunity to create a new knowledge of the world.”

“If you want to understand if political-economic systems really work, you must know what happens at the base; and religious actors are at the cutting edge of understanding what happens at the base,” Thomas continued.

Petito underscored that “the city of Rome can be a hub of religious connections and network with which to connect religious movements,” given that Rome is home to the Vatican.

“It can be a place for bridging gaps in global issues,” he said.

Petito said that the Vatican’s recent initiatives on refugees and human trafficking “show that there can be a real cooperation that can actually bring common outcomes for states and religious actors.”

“It’s clear that if you want to know what’s going on you have to speak with Vatican officials. What Pope Francis has to do, with the network of information he can access, is to provide information, pursuing a dialogue with the key questions on social policy,” echoed Thomas.

This the reason why Pope Francis’ visit to Strasbourg is so important.

“It may be a wake-up call to Europe to adjust its role in the world,” with a more in-depth consideration of the non-European context: those parts of the world that Pope Francis would call ‘peripheries.’

*Breaking* Accused Child Killer resigns from top Vatican office

Looking bad for the accused!

I am on this story, have been a while, this court case against the Vatican and the Queen of the UK. It is getting bad for the accused. But don’t expect main stream media to go near this! From Brussels and the Canada case

The International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State
Our Mandate: (1) To legally prosecute those people and institutions responsible for the exploitation, trafficking, torture and murder of children, past and present, and (2) To stop these and other criminal actions by church and state, including by disestablishing those same institutions.

Kevin Annett: Vatican rumors Pope Francis health/resignation to avoid Satanic murder evidence
Video via myself

Amidst rumours that Pope Francis, Jorge Bergoglio, may step down from his office because of his public prosecution for child trafficking and murder, one of his fellow defendants has just done so. Jesuit Superior General Adolfo Nicolas Pachon announced suddenly this week that he will resign from his office at the next General Congress of the Jesuits.

Along with Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, Bergoglio and Pachon are primary defendants in an historic criminal lawsuit being conducted by the International Common Law Court of Justice in Brussels that commenced on April 7, 2014. Several eyewitnesses who have given their deposition to the Court claim they witnessed Welby, Bergoglio and Pachon participate in child rape and sacrifice rituals connected to the notorious Jesuit-run Ninth Circle cult, during 2009 and 2010. In a statement generally unreported by the world media, Pachon announced on May 20 that he was stepping down from his office without giving a reason. The Italian TV news agency Rome Reports called Pachon’s resignation “unusual … for one of the leading prelates in the church”.

Pachon is the third top Vatican official to resign while in office after being prosecuted by the ICLCJ for crimes against humanity. Former Pope Benedict, Joseph Ratzinger, abdicated on February 11, 2013, barely two weeks before the ICLCJ jury found him guilty of complicity in child trafficking and murder. Another primary defendant in the same case, Vatican Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone, also resigned after the verdict. ITCCS Field Secretary Kevin Annett commented today from Canada, “This is yet another huge admission of guilt by some of the most powerful men in the papacy. Obviously they are not untouchable, and their whole corrupt criminal syndicate is coming down. We should all take hope from this, and see that the law in the hands of the people can topple the worst tyrants.”

Italy’s bishops pass Vatican-backed rule that child molestation does not have to be reported

Most people in Europe know the truth about why the last Pope resigned and the connection to the Crown and the Vatican. I blogged this a week ago http://shaunynews.wordpress.com/2014/04/04/historic-breaking-news-canada-vatican-crown-guilty-of-genocide/ Now I certainly know for sure the Catholic Church is a monster, many people in my family me included and a hundred+ friends have walked away from the Catholic Church because the police don’t get called when a Priest sexually abuses a kid. And although the UN said they must now tell the police, from the safety of Vatican city laws the decision has been made they don’t have to report to the police. This is sick, perverted and there is NOTHING we can do about it, their own laws in Vatican City protect them. Anyone want to debate me, I have more, but if like most of the people in my real life, you are Catholic, you don’t want to know or see, trust me. But if you do, I will tell. I am now a Freelance Journalist, I tell news you WON’T see on TV , I don’t know about the USA, Australia and elsewhere, but here in Europe and the UK we all know the truth, 100% we do

The story connecting the Catholic Church, The Vatican, Child sex and Beastuality is real and adds up. Should I blog what I have I am in trouble. The video below is by a VERY WELL Respected You Tube alternative media lad, Daboo7, he is American and actually visits sites where proof shows things. Watch the video, don’t be ignorant. My family are Catholic, they see me write this I am a bad boy, but what do I do, I promised to tell the truth, no matter what. Sadly Catholics will deny even though the proof is there.

Italy’s bishops have adopted a policy, with backing from the Vatican, that states they are not obliged to inform police officers if they suspect a child has been molested. The Italian Bishops’ Conference said the guidelines published on Friday reflected suggestions from the Vatican’s office that handles sex abuse investigations. Victims have denounced how bishops systematically covered up abuse by moving priests while keeping prosecutors in the dark. Only in 2010 did the Vatican instruct bishops to report abuse to police — but only where required by law. Italian guidelines cite a 1985 treaty between the Vatican and Italy stipulating that clergy aren’t obliged to tell magistrates about information obtained through their religious ministry. The guidelines remind bishops, however, they have a ”moral duty“ to contribute to the common good.

The ruling comes less than a week after Pope Francis appointed a former child victim as one of the first members of a new commission to help the Catholic Church put an end to clerical sexual abuse. A UN report published in March blasted what it called the Vatican’s code of silence” around abusive priests. UN children’s rights experts estimate “tens of thousands of children worldwide” have been sexually abused by predatory clerics as a result of moving, rather than reporting, paedophiles. Speaking to Il Corriere della Sera, Pope Francis said at the time: “The Catholic Church is perhaps the only public institution to have acted with transparency and responsibility. “No-one else has done more. Yet the Church is the only one to have been attacked.”

` Pope Francis speaks about the `Assassination ‘ of Dutch Jesuit Priest ` Frans van der Lugt ‘ in Syria ‘

#AceNewsServices – ROME/SYRIA – April 09 – Pope Francis spoke on Wednesday of his deep grief over the assassination of the Dutch Jesuit priest Frans van der Lugt in Syria and made a renewed appeal for an end to the violence.

“May the weapons fall silent! No more war, no more destruction,” Pope Francis said, SANA reported.

“He was loved and valued by both Christians and Muslims,” the Pope told some 45,000 faithful assembled on the famous Vatican piazza.

“It filled me with profound pain and made me think of all the people who suffer and die in the martyred country,” he said.

A terrorist group on Monday shot dead the priest Frans van der Lugt in his monastery in Bustan al-Diwan neighbourhood in Homs city.

Incident Details: BY CAROL KURUVILLA NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Tuesday, April 8, 2014, 1:46 PM – A Dutch priest was beaten and shot to death in the garden of his monastery in the embattled Syrian city of Homs on Monday, after refusing to seek refuge in a safer place.

Rev. Frans Van Der Lugt, a 75-year-old Jesuit priest, was dragged outside his home and shot twice in the head by a single masked gunman.

Rev. Ziad Hillal, one of the 24 Christians who lived in the monastery, said that the violence was a “premeditated act” that specifically targeted the beloved, elderly priest http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/dutch-jesuit-priest-shot-dead-syria-refusing-flee-besieged-city-article-1.1749611

John Paul II’s `Personal Notes to be Published’ Despite`Pope’s Last Will and Testament’ to Burn Them”

#AceNewsServices says John Paul II’s personal notes to be published Wednesday in defiance of the pope’s will to burn them.

John Paul II’s personal notes, entrusted to his closest confidant and today’s archbishop of Krakow Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, is due be published Wednesday despite the pope’s last will and testament, which required the cardinal to burn them.

The book, entitled “I am Very Much in God’s Hands”, comes out in Poland, the pope’s native land.

Criticism so far has outpaced praise.

“I don’t think it is right for a church member to go against the will and authority of the pope, whatever the reason,” Ewelina Gniewnik said as she was leaving Saviour’s Church in down-town Warsaw. “I’m not sure that Cardinal Dziwisz knows what he is doing.”

Cardinal Dziwisz recently said that he “didn’t have the courage” to destroy John Paul II’s notes as they contain his thoughts and religious meditations written from July 1962, when he was a young bishop on the rise, to March 2003, when he had been pope for more than 24 years and Parkinson’s disease was eroding his health.

“In writing his will, the Holy Father knew he was entrusting these notebooks to someone who would treat them responsibly,” Cardinal Dziwisz said at a news conference in Krakow on January 22. “I had no doubt these were such important items, testifying to the spirituality of a great pope, that it would be a crime to destroy them.” He invoked the despair of historians after the burning of Pope Pius XII’s letters.

As analysts believe, the book will be more bought than read as it includes abstruse reflections on biblical citations that scholars will study closely but that ordinary readers may find less accessible.

But not every cardinal blames Dziwisz for his decision.

“I admit that without having read the book, I was sadly surprised with the decision,” the Rev. Adam Boniecki, an influential Catholic intellectual, wrote on January 22 in Tygodnik Powszechny, a leading Catholic weekly in Poland. “After reading the notebooks, however, I am grateful that in this matter, he didn’t come as scrupulous bureaucrat.”

Here are translated excerpts from “I am Very Much in God’s Hands” .

Chastity. Body from God – and redeemed: “you do not belong to yourselves”

Christ is chastity alone and virginity alone!

Priesthood is not identified with celibacy, but celibacy supports priesthood and gives it a particular effectiveness.

On October 13, 1978 my dear friend bp (bishop) Andrzej Deskur suffered an unexpected stroke that brought partial paralysis on him. Despite treatment at the Gemelli Polyclinic, and then in Switzerland, the paralysis has not receded.

On October 14 I visited Andrzej in hospital, going to conclave, who was to make the choice of a successor after the death of John Paul I.

It is hard for me not to link the fact that on October 16 I was that chosen successor, with the event that preceded that choice by 3 days. The sacrifice of my Brother in bishopry, Andrzej, seems to me to be preparation for this fact. Everything has been inscribed, through his suffering, into the mystery of the Cross and Redemption that was accomplished by Christ.

XVI Conference. Jesus Christ and history.

a) History as the presence of evil

b) History as the presence of good

c) History as a “coupling” of good and evil

To know how to reconcile? To know how to extract good from evil!

#Ukraine: ” Pope Francis on `Sunday’ Called for `Constructive Dialogue’ in `Ukraine’ saying he was `Praying’ in the `Vatican’ for the Country

#AceNewsServices says `Ukraine’ and the `unrest’ continues and spreads across the country.

Sunday, January 26

16:49 GMT:

At least 311 police officers have been injured in the Kiev riots, 118 of whom have been hospitalized with head injuries, fractures, burns, and stab and slash wounds. Some have also been poisoned by “unknown substances,” the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said in a Sunday statement.

The ministry’s press service also informed UNIAN news agency that 116 people have been detained in connection with the mass riots in central Kiev and that a criminal investigation into “mass disorder” on Grushevskogo Street has been opened.

Several people who were previously convicted, including those who have been charged with especially grave crimes, are among the detained.

15:45 GMT:

Pope Francis on Sunday called for “constructive dialogue” in Ukraine, saying he was praying in the Vatican for the country and for those who have lost their lives in the ongoing unrest there. Following the Pope’s speech to thousands of faithful who gathered in St. Peter’s Square, two doves were released by children standing alongside his holiness.

However, as soon as the birds of peace took off, they were immediately attacked by a crow and a seagull. The crowd gasped as one dove broke free from the gull, losing some feathers, and another one was repeatedly pecked at by the crow. It was not clear what happened to the doves after they flew off.

15:35 GMT:

People in Donetsk are rallying in support of President Yanukovich and against the unrest gripping some of the country’s regions, Igor Chechesov of the Donetsk Party of Regions branch told Itar-Tass.

“The common thought voiced at almost all of those rallies is supporting the president and calling for the mayhem happening in several regions to end… The speakers are also demanding to abide by the Constitution of Ukraine,” Chechesov said.

Earlier on Sunday, five people described as provocateurs were detained at a pro-government rally by the police. A group of masked people with clubs briefly clashed with members of the rally, prompting police intervention. One man received a head injury after being hit with a club, Itar-Tass reports.

14:36 GMT:

Protesters occupied an administrative building in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy, proclaiming “People’s Rada” – an alternative regional parliament. The occupation of the building followed an opposition rally that claimed to have gathered 5,000 people. No clashes or resistance were reported during the taking of the building.

Meanwhile in Zaporozhye, the authorities have opened a criminal investigation into the attempt to storm the administrative building there. The attempt followed negotiations with a local city administration official, with media reports saying it was led by “radicals.” According to reports on Twitter, several people were injured in explosions from police stun grenades.

14:10 GMT:

Hundreds of protesters, who gathered near government buildings in the southern Ukrainian cities of Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk, are being urged to storm the buildings, say reports on Twitter.

Earlier in Dnepropetrovsk, protesters who attempted to breach the barriers cordoning off the city administration building clashed with a group of men in sports uniform, Interfax-Ukraine said, citing local media.

The majority of people in Odessa do not support the rioters, the head of the city’s administration, Nikolay Skorik, told Itar-Tass. According to Skorik, the people have voiced their desire for the “stability and integrity of the country.”

Sunday’s riots in the south of Ukraine have been described as a daring action by the opposition, as this part of the country is traditionally considered to be supportive of President Yanukovich and his Party of Regions.

 13:26 GMT:

Hundreds of anti-government protesters have besieged a city administration building in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye. Footage from the scene showed a large crowd of protesters facing off against a police line at the main entrance to the building. Media reports said there was an attempt to storm the premises, but there was no immediate confirmation of any demonstrators breaking inside.

#AceGuestViews : “Obama I don’t think `Marijuana’ Is More `Dangerous’ than Alcohol”

#AceGuestPost and his “News and Views” on the subject of “Obama and Marijuana”

In a profile published on The New Yorker’s website, the President admits he smoked marijuana when he was younger and is pretty sure many other politicians did, too, but that some demographics are more harshly punished for the offence. He says if it is legalized, it could lead to a slippery slope, with supporters possibly wanting to legalize recreational use other drugs, such as meth or cocaine.
President Obama (Who is to meet the Pope in March this year) thinks marijuana is no more dangerous than booze — and even less harmful “in terms of its impact on the individual consumer.”

“As has been well-documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life. I don’t think it is more dangerous than alcohol,” Obama said to New Yorker editor David Remnick in a lengthy profile published Sunday

President Obama thinks marijuana is no more dangerous than booze — and even less harmful “in terms of its impact on the individual consumer.”

“Middle-class kids don’t get locked up for smoking pot and poor kids do,” he told Remnick. “And African-American kids and Latino kids are more likely to be poor, and less likely to have the resources and the support to avoid unduly harsh penalties.”

I have always wondered why Alcohol is sociably acceptable while Hash/Cannabis/Marijuana is not. I have NEVER seen or heard of someone do ANY bad stoned. But I can tell 1oo stories of drunk people doing wrong, even dying. The world is BACKWARDS on this issue, for me it’s as clear as day. LEGALIZE the Herb, CRIMINALIZE Alcohol!
