WASHINGTON) State Dept Press Statement Report: Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), is providing more than $20 million in additional assistance to help meet urgent humanitarian needs for the nearly 700,000 asylum seekers, refugees, and vulnerable migrants in Central America and Mexico #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Oct.16: This additional funding brings the total U.S. humanitarian assistance for Central America and Mexico to more than $331 million for Fiscal Year 2021.

#AceDailyNews reports that the State Dept has announced ‘New Humanitarian Aid in Central America and Mexico’ This additional funding will support increased access to international protection, access to mental health and psychosocial support, legal assistance, shelter, and healthcare, including prevention and treatment of COVID-19. Through its international organization partners, PRM funding also supports protection capacity building for governments in the region.

Through this new humanitarian assistance, the United States is advancing our mission to collaboratively manage migration in the region, including by promoting access to protection and increasing the U.S. response to urgent humanitarian needs in Central America and Mexico. This is part of the Administration’s comprehensive approach to supporting safe, orderly, and humane migration while also addressing the root causes of irregular migration in the region.

The United States is the largest single donor of humanitarian aid in Central America and Mexico and to asylum seekers, refugees, and vulnerable migrants in the region. We remain concerned about the continuing increase in humanitarian needs and forced displacement in the region, and we urge other donors to contribute to the international response and provide the support needed to save lives.

(SYRIA) Refugee Crisis Report: Top diplomat advise refugees to return to their homeland as Amnesty International warns of consequences for this action #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Oct.02: Syria (MNN) — Syria’s top diplomat encourages refugees to come home, while experts and aid groups advise the opposite. United Nations Commissioner Karen Koning AbuZayd warned earlier this week, “The war on Syrian civilians continues.

#AceDailyNews says according to MMN on Friday nearly six million Syrian refugees remain in neighboring countries, making this the world’s largest refugee crisis. Nonetheless, hope remains. “We’ve been able to send two couples back into Syria,” Heart for Lebanon’s Tom Atema says.

Header image depicts Muslim-background believers at a church service in Lebanon. Heart for Lebanon reaches Syrian refugees in Lebanon with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Photo courtesy of Heart for Lebanon)

But according to Amnesty International, Syrian refugees who returned home faced torture at the hands of security forces. One former refugee said a Syrian official told him, “You’re a terrorist … Syria is not a hotel that you leave and return to when you want.”

MMN By October 1, 2021

The Syrian couples fled to Lebanon years ago as refugees. They met Lebanese believers through Heart for Lebanon’s access ministry.

“These two couples [are] the first official two couples that have been through our whole program; starting with food packages, all the way through Bible studies,” Atema says.

“Now they’re reaching Syria with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Although Syria is an Islamic nation, “many Muslims have come to Christ as Christians have reached out with acts of compassion and practical assistance,” The Voice of the Martyrs USA reports. Like the couples trained by Heart for Lebanon, Christian refugees who return to Syria often find unique Gospel opportunities.

Heart for Lebanon’s focus on holistic, relational, and unconditional ministry allows believers to reach and engage Syrian refugees in a relationship.

“One of the couples [has] led two people to the Lord already. They’ve started a house church, and they’re helping people in the community rebuild and do what they need to do to sustain life,” Atema says.

(LINCOLNSHIRE,U.K.) Afghanistan Refugee Crisis Report: The chairman of a Grantham football club says that he has been backed by the team’s supporters’ group after he claimed that refugees staying in the town were “roaming the streets” for drugs but group says it does not back statement while FA Investigates #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Oct.01: Ashton is not under fire and being called “racist” for saying something false. No one seems to be disputing his assertions on any factual basis. ….

#AceDailyNews says that the UK: Chairman of Lincolnshire football club says supporters have backed him following refugee comments,” by Oliver Pridmore, Lincolnshire Live, September 26, 2021: But a meeting of Grantham Town’s supporters’ club on Saturday, September 25, met to vote on a statement that would have asked the team’s chairman, Darren Ashton, to apologise for his comment and to retract it.

But the group has confirmed to Lincolnshire Live that the statement was not backed because it felt that it would be “inappropriate” to comment whilst the FA were investigating the matter.

The investigation also meant that the supporters’ group didn’t want to offer any further comment to Lincolnshire Live.

Mr Ashton claimed that only two people in the meeting voted in favour of the statement, and that the supporters’ group has around 300 members, although he does not know how many were in attendance at the meeting as he wasn’t able to attend.

A representative from the supporters’ group told Lincolnshire Live that the number of members was in fact 113.

The Urban Hotel on Swingbridge Road in Grantham is currently home to refugees from Afghanistan after the British Government pledged to take in 20,000 refugees from the landlocked country over the next five years following the recent withdrawal of British troops.

In a tweet posted about this on the evening of Thursday, September 9, Mr Ashton said: “True story, I’m the chairman of Grantham Town, and we had one of our players staying there on a long-term agreement.

“Last Friday they informed him he had to be out by Monday. No consideration for an 18-year-old lad away from his family and friends trying to make a career for himself.”

He then posted a further tweet in the conversation, which read: “Those refugees are as we speak roaming the streets of Grantham trying to get drugs.”

Mr Ashton then tweeted again on Friday morning saying: “It would appear I upset a few people last night with some of my responses to there [sic] messages.

“I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to absolutely NO ONE. Good day to you all.”

Speaking to Lincolnshire Live following the result of the supporters’ group meeting being announced, Mr Ashton said: “A massive majority voted in my favour which I’m very happy about because a lot of people have misrepresented what I said.”

Mr Ashton says that he didn’t single out Afghan refugees in particular, as he claimed that refugees of other nationalities are staying at the hotel.

He said: “All along I’ve asked for people to point exactly to something I’ve said which was racist and they can’t.

“I have already said that the way I worded the tweets was a bit poor and I’ve apologised for that side of things, but I’m a council lad who hasn’t got a degree like most other people so sometimes my wording is poor.

“But I won’t apologise for the actual content of what I said because I’m not a racist, and I’m not right-wing as some people have said.

“What I’ve learnt during this process is that if you happen to disagree with someone who is on the left, then you are labelled right-wing.”…

(WASHINGTON) DoD Report: As part of Operation Allies Refuge, the Defense Department is building capacity to house up to 50,000 Afghan evacuees on seven different military installations across the United States #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Aug.28: The request for assistance from the State Department specifically requested that the Department of Defense provide culturally appropriate food, water, bedding, religious services, recreational activities and other services such as transportation from the port of entry to the location of accommodations, and some medical services as well,” Air Force Gen. Glen D. VanHerck, commander of U.S. Northern Command, said during a press conference today at the Pentagon.

#AceDailyNews reports that DOD Building Capacity to Support up to 50,000 Afghan Evacuees Ports of entry for those evacuees now include both Dulles International Airport in Virginia, and Philadelphia International Airport in Pennsylvania. VanHerck said Northcom is supporting the Operation Allies Refuge at those transportation hubs by providing services and additional forces, including assisting with managing the flow of evacuees.

Aug. 27, 2021 | BY C. Todd Lopez , DOD News

Those services are now either being provided, or will be provided at Fort Bliss, Texas; Fort McCoy, Wisconsin; Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey; Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico; and Fort Lee, Marine Corps Base Quantico and Fort Pickett, all in Virginia.

Soldiers fold blankets that say "Red Cross" on them.

Right now, capacity at Fort Lee, Fort Bliss, Fort McCoy, and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst stands at about 21,000 persons, though as the other three bases start bringing in evacuees, that number will grow. The department expects by Sept. 15 to reach the full capacity of 50,000, and it’s possible also that new installations could be opened up to provide additional space if needed, VanHerck said.

29:06

Onboard the installations currently housing evacuees, VanHerck said military efforts have been augmented by local communities and non-governmental organizations who are pitching in to ensure Afghans are well taken care of.

One soldier hands another soldier a box of diapers.

“They’re coming here, starting over with what they bring with them,” he said. “We’ve been incredibly well supported by the local communities, by the non-governmental organizations, etc., that have jumped in to help these families with things of need, such as diapers, formula, clothing — you name it.”

The general said at one location he could visit with one of the Afghans there to inquire about the conditions for him and his family.

“I asked them if they had what they needed, if they were doing okay, getting enough to eat, and getting enough … sleep,” he said. “The father thanked me, saying they had what they needed, and that it was the first time in a long time that he has slept without being afraid for his family’s safety.”

VanHerck said it’s been the tireless work of service members across the United States who have so far made the evacuation and resettlement effort a success.

“Thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines are working across the United States to complete this incredibly important mission to provide our Afghan colleagues a safe harbor while they finalize their immigration process,” VanHerck said. “I’m also grateful for the support of the community surrounding each of our bases and for the volunteers and others who are aiding in all of these efforts — together we are honoring our commitment to our Afghan partners and their families.”

(WASHINGTON,D.C.) JW TPS REPORT: In its short tenure the Biden administration has extended a special reprieve for five different groups of illegal immigrants living in the U.S. #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Aug.02: The most recent was renewed a few days ago for thousands of people from Yemen, the Middle Eastern Islamic nation well known as an Al #Qaeda breeding ground. Officially, the provisional amnesty is known as Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a humanitarian measure designed to shield undocumented aliens from deportation during emergencies. …

JW REPORT: “Temporary” Reprieve: It is supposed to be a short-term solution for foreign nationals that do not quality as refugees but cannot immediately return home because of difficulties caused by factors such as violence, natural disasters, or political and economic instability.

TPS, which is typically granted in 18-month increments, not only protects foreign nationals from deportation it also allows them to work in the U.S.

The Obama administration went crazy with TPS, renewing it for tens of thousands of Hondurans and Nicaraguans more than a decade and a half after a hurricane hit the Central American nations, prolonging it for Africans two years after originally issuing it due to Ebola, and repeatedly restoring it for tens of thousands of Haitians years after an earthquake struck the island. During its two terms the Obama administration never missed an opportunity to offer illegal immigrants reprieve, using inclement weather in the U.S., a virus, natural disasters and tainted water in an American city to extend the perk. Nationals of Yemen have been protected by both Democrats and Republicans, receiving TPS over “ongoing armed conflict” under Obama and two extensions under Trump. A few days ago, the Biden administration renewed the TPS for Yemenis yet again, protecting approximately 2,180 people.

“Yemen continues to experience worsening humanitarian and economic conditions that prevent individuals from safely returning to their homes,” said Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in a statementannouncing the “re-designation.” He added that the administration “will continue to protect and offer these individuals a place of residency temporarily in the United States.” The measure will protect Yemenis who previously benefitted from TPS through March 2023 and will allow about 480 additional Yemenis to qualify. It marks the fifth TPS extension issued by the Biden administration since taking office this year. In January TPS was extended for 6,700 Syrians and 1,800 additional Syrians were allowed to file applications for the 18-month reprieve. In early March 320,000 Venezuelans received TPS for 18 months and in mid-March Burmese nationals got it for the same period after a military coup and security forces’ violence against civilians. Later in March the administration extended TPS yet again for more than 100,000 Haitians over the economic crisis that persists more than a decade after the earthquake that provoked the original TPS.

Yemen was first designated for TPS by the Obama administration in 2015after a northern opposition group called Houthis initiated a violent, territorial expansion across the country and forced Yemeni government leaders to exile in Saudi Arabia. When it expired, the Obama administration extended it another 18 months on the “dual bases of ongoing armed conflict and extraordinary and temporary conditions.”When that second extension expired, the Trump administration renewed it twice, first under Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in 2018 and again under acting Secretary Chad Wolf. The latest extension is warranted because, although it is in its seventh year, the protracted conflict has shown no sign of abating and fighting between Houthi and government forces continues, according to a Federal Register announcement issued this month.

Yemen is a hotbed of terrorism that serves as the headquarters of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). Nevertheless, shortly after getting elected President Biden revoked the terrorist designation of a Yemen-based militant group, a move that was followed by a fat “humanitarian assistance” check from American taxpayers. The Federal Register bulletin announcing the group’s (Ansarallah, also known as Partisans of God) terrorist classification says it has committed or has attempted to commit, or poses a significant risk of committing, or has participated in training to commit, acts of terrorism that threaten the security of U.S. nationals or the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States. The international community strongly opposed classifying Ansarallah as a terrorist entity, asserting it would come with repercussions for humanitarian operations. Days after rescinding the terrorist designation, the Biden administration gave Yemen $191 million in assistance.

#EURefugeeCrisis – AUSTRALIA: Seems to have a simple policy for dealing with #refugees simply ‘MISTREAT ‘ them as witnessed at #Nauru and then they complain it’s closed and they can ship them out to a third world country but won’t name where – @AceNewsServices

#AceNewsReport – Nov.08: Are we witnessing a people trade in #refugees for a price as Australia to resettle mistreated asylum seekers but will not say where

Australia is set to find a third country to resettle hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers currently being held on Nauru and Manus Island off Papua New Guinea, a minister said Tuesday.

“We have been in negotiations with third countries for a long period of time and we are going to land a deal,” Immigration Minister Peter Dutton told reporters in Canberra, without providing a timeline for the resettlement.

Amnesty International said Labor's stance against the "callous and cruel legislation" was encouraging and asked the government to bring the refugees to Australia for processing and resettlement. (AFP/File)

Migrants have been left stranded in Ventimiglia, the last train station before the Italian French border.

NIGERIA: ‘ THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE KILLED & 1.6 MILLION HOMELESS AS BOKO HARAM ATTACKS INTENSIFY ‘

#AceNewsServices – NIGERIA:Dec.21- In this featured report on the rise of the Boko Haram Group AP reported today that thousands of members of Nigeria’s home-grown Islamic extremist Boko Haram group strike across the border in Cameroon, with coordinated attacks on border towns, a troop convoy and a major barracks.

' Boko Haram Group Recruitment '

‘ Boko Haram Group Recruitment ‘

Farther north, Boko Haram employs recruits from Chad to enforce its control in northeastern Nigerian towns and cities.

In Niger, the government has declared a “humanitarian crisis” and appealed for international aid to help tens of thousands of Nigerian refugees driven from their homes by the insurgency.

These recent events show how neighbouring countries are increasingly being drawn into Nigeria’s Islamic uprising.

Thousands of people have been killed in Nigeria’s 5-year insurgency and some 1.6 million people driven from their homes. A number of soldiers were sentenced to death on Wednesday for refusing to report for duty in an operation against the Boko Haram the African Mail reported.

In a similar case in September, 12 soldiers were sentenced to death for mutiny after firing on their commanding officer in the northeast city of Maiduguri, where troops are battling against Boko Haram.

Both sentences are subject to approval by top army brass, but there has so far been no indication that senior officers oppose the rulings.

Poor military equipment
Frontline troops have consistently complained that they lack the weapons and other supplies needed to face Boko Haram in insurgent strongholds.

The Islamists, waging a five-year uprising to create a caliphate in northern Nigeria, are known to have tanks, rocket propelled grenade launchers and other heavy weaponry, while troops have reported lacking ammunition for basic assault rifles.

These series of attacks as outlined blow have continued and are continuing with no end in sight.

WASHINGTON: ‘ RELEASES SIX GUANTANAMO PRISONERS BEING SENT TO URUGUAY ‘

#AceWorldNews – WASHINGTON – Dec.07 – Six prisoners held for 12 years at Guantanamo Bay have been sent to Uruguay to be resettled as refugees, the U.S. government announced Sunday AP reported.

This was involved an agreement that had been delayed for months by security concerns in the Pentagon and political considerations in the South American country.

The six men – four Syrians, a Tunisian and a Palestinian – are the first prisoners transferred to South America from the U.S. base in Cuba, part of a flurry of recent releases amid a renewed push by President Barack Obama to close the prison.

TURKEY: ‘ GOVERNMENT PROVIDING ID CARDS FOR SYRIAN REFUGEES TO WORK LEGALLY ‘

#AceNewsServices – TURKEY – With Turkey struggling to meet the basic needs of around 1.7 million Syrian refugees, the government is now planning to issue temporary identity cards for Syrians in order to allow their employment within a legal framework.

' Turkish Government to provide temporary ID cards for employment of Syrian refugees '

Turkish Government to provide temporary ID cards for employment of Syrian refugees

The announcement of the plan came from Labour and Social Security Minister Faruk Çelik late on Nov. 11, while responding to questions from lawmakers during ongoing debates over the 2015 Central Governance Budget Law at Parliament’s Planning and Budget Commission.

“Now, there is the need for a decision by the Cabinet,” Çelik said, recalling earlier preliminary studies for the employment of Syrian refugees that were drafted by the Directorate General of Migration Management working under the Interior Ministry.

“They will be given a temporary identity card,” Çelik said, adding that their study outlined the employment of Syrian refugees in “vacant positions” and stressed that the proportion of Syrian refugee laborers at any work place must not be higher than 10 percent.

Whether such a limitation will ease widely held concerns about the employment of Syrian refugees as a form of cheap labour remains to be seen.

Police also questioned hundreds of refugees after disturbing photo and video footage emerged at the weekend, including an image showing a security guard pinning a handcuffed Algerian man to the floor with his boot on the man’s neck.

Police said they launched their investigation after a journalist passed on to them cellphone video footage that showed security guards forcing an elderly man to lie on a mattress covered in vomit while threatening to beat him.

North Rhine-Westphalia state Interior Minister Ralf Jaeger pledged to pursue “with utmost determination” the case in the refugee centre in Burbach, about 100 kilometres (60 miles) south-east of Cologne, vowing to ensure “that this never happens again”.

“These are images of the kind we’ve seen from Guantanamo Bay,” said Frank Richter, police chief of the nearby city of Hagen, referring to the controversial US military detention facility in Cuba.

Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokesman said that if investigations confirm that “refugees were abused and humiliated, then these would be repulsive acts”.

“We are a humane country. In Germany, the dignity of man is respected… and that must be true in asylum centres and refugee camps,” said Steffen Seibert.

‘ War Makes Rohingya Muslims Stateless Refugee’s ‘

#AceNewsServices – INDIA(New Delhi) – September 25 – A recent report on Myanmar’s Rohingya stuck in refugee limbo in India, has highlighted how people feel stateless. Here is one person’s story:

'Myanmar’s Rohingya stuck in refugee limbo in India'

‘Myanmar’s Rohingya stuck in refugee limbo in India’

When Kohinoor, a stateless Rohingya Muslim, fled her home in Myanmar after a wave of attacks by majority fanatic Buddhists, “We were chased out of Burma (Myanmar). We were chased out of Bangladesh. Now we are in India, the people here tell us that India is not our country.

So where will we go?asked Kohinoor, 20, sitting in a makeshift tent on a patch of wasteland in southern Delhi.

We don’t have any land of our own. Our children don’t go to the government schools as they refuse us admission. When we go to the hospital, they don’t admit people from our community,” said Kohinoor, who fled Myanmar two years ago with her 2-year-old daughter and her sister’s family.

Though the Rohingya minority have lived for generations in Myanmar’s western state of Rakhine, the largely Buddhist government passed a citizenship law in 1982 which excluded them, denying them the identity cards required for everything from schooling and marriage to finding a job and getting a birth or death certificate. They became stateless.

Hundreds died in communal violence between Buddhists and Rohingya in 2012, worsening their plight, and in the last two years more than 86,000 Rohingya have left, fleeing to countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, India and Bangladesh.

The Rohingya are among an estimated 10 million stateless people worldwide. Their plight was discussed during the first global forum on statelessness opening in The Hague. This is ahead of an ambitious UN campaign starting in November to eradicate statelessness worldwide within a decade.

India, despite hosting some 30,000 registered refugees, has no legal recognition of asylum seekers, making it difficult for them to use essential services like schools and hospitals, human rights groups say – and the Rohingya community is among the most vulnerable.

According to the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR), there are around 9,000 Rohingya registered in Delhi. Thousands more, unregistered, are living in other parts of the country such as Jammu and Hyderabad.

` Jordanian Police were Injured in Clashes with ` Syrian Refugees ‘ Burning Six Tents and Attacking a Police Station ‘

#AceWorldNews – SYRIA – ZAATARI CAMP – (RT) – April 06 – At least 22 Jordanian police were injured in clashes with Syrian refugees at the Zaatari camp, authorities reported.

No verified report on the number of injured among the protesters was immediately available.

The camp is the second-largest in the world and houses some 106,000 refugees, who fled the violence in Syria across the border.

The rioting crowd burned down six tents and two caravans before trying to attack police stations, Jordanian police said.

There are conflicting reports on what triggered the unrest. Jordan said it was caused by the detention of three people trying to leave the camp illegally, while the refugees said the riot started after police ran over a Syrian child.

` Refugees now Fleeing `War-Torn Syria ‘ into the Neighbouring City of `Lebanon ‘ have Surpassed 1 Million Today ‘

#AceWorldNews – BEIRUT- Lebanon – April 3 (UNHCR) – Report – The number of refugees fleeing from Syria into neighbouring Lebanon passed the 1 million mark today, a bleak milestone exacerbated by rapidly depleting resources and a host community stretched to breaking point.

Just over three years after Syria’s conflict began, Lebanon has become the country with the highest per capita concentration of refugees worldwide, struggling to keep pace with a crisis that shows no signs of slowing.

Refugees from Syria now equal almost a quarter of the resident population.
