The debate in the Federation Council has revealed that Russian MPs are united on the issue, with many of them sharing concerns on the recent events in Ukraine.
The common notion was that since the power was seized in Kiev, the situation has only been deteriorating with radical nationalists rapidly coming to power and threatening the lives of those opposing their actions, most notably the Russian citizens living in Ukraine.
#AceWorldNews says Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday issued a statement saying that it was surprised by some of Russia’s foreign partners presenting radical Islamists in Syria as the “moderate” opposition.
“The international public has recently been shocked by reports coming from the Syrian city of Raqqa, which has been under total Jihadists’ rule for nearly one year.
There, the so-called ‘fighters for the bright future of Syria’ from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant have imposed a head tax – jizya – on all the remaining Christians.
According to the information posted on the website of this gang, all ‘unbelievers’ who refuse to convert to Islam will be forced to pay tax in gold,” the ministry’s statement said.
“Within the given context, Moscow is puzzled by attempts of some of our foreign partners, who like to reason on respecting human rights in all the corners of the world, to flirt with Islamist gangs in Syria, presenting some them as ‘moderate’ powers fighting the ‘regime’ of `Syrian President Bashar Assad ‘” the statement said.
#AceWorldNews says that a number of unknown armed men from Kiev have tried to seize the Crimean Interior Ministry overnight, and there were several injuries in that attack, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“Thanks to the decisive action of self-defence squads, the attempt to seize the building of the Interior Ministry was derailed. This attempt confirms the intention of prominent political circles in Kiev to destabilize the situation on the peninsula,” the statement added.
“We believe it is extremely irresponsible to further pressure the already tense situation in the Crimea,” the ministry stated stressing its concerns over the latest developments in the region.
#AceWorldNews says the administration of the US prison where Russian pilot, Konstantin Yaroshenko, is serving a term of imprisonment is not allowing a doctor from the Russian Permanent Mission to see him, Aleksandr Lukashevich, a spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has said.
The ministry’s commissioner for human rights, Konstantin Dolgov, earlier said that the prison’s administration defers to internal regulations, which prohibit visits by foreign doctors.
Moscow is demanding a comprehensive examination and full treatment of the Russian citizen, as well as access for a Russian delegation headed by Dolgov, together with Russian medics, Lukashevich said.
