The Red Cross has called for a three-hour humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, Israeli officials confirmed to Haaretz. Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri says Hamas has already agreed to the ceasefire, but claims Israel has refused the request. There has been no official response from Israel as of yet.

Israeli shelling of Shejaia neighborhood in the Gaza Strip on Sunday resulted in killing at least 40 Palestinians, a medical official told Reuters.

“Forty martyrs have been counted so far and bodies were picked up. Medics are searching for possibly more casualties,” the director of Gaza’s Shifa hospital, Naser Tattar, said, adding that about 400 people were wounded in the Israeli attack.

Hamas has launched an ambush on an IDF armoured personnel carrier and a tank close to Gaza City, reports Haaretz, citing Hamas sources. According to the reports, Hamas fighters opened fire on the vehicles with antitank missiles and explosives.

At least five soldiers were wounded in the military operation in Gaza and have been hospitalized, Israeli media reports. One of the soldiers appears to be in critical condition while others suffered moderate injuries.

An Israeli airstrike on the home of Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayyah killed three members of his family and a neighbour, Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qedra said. The Hamas leader was not home when the airstrike occurred.

In the last 48 hours the IDF has targeted 500 sites in Gaza city with 2,500 targets in the entire Strip. Thirteen tunnels have been discovered, five of which lead into Israel. Another 34 tunnel openings have been uncovered. Thirteen terrorist suspects have been arrested, Jpost reports.
