` Armed Extremists in `Yarmouk ‘ near Damascus’ massacre captured `Palestinian ‘ fighter’s ‘

#AceWorldNews says that Armed extremist grouping the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant /ISIS/ has massacred captured Palestinian fighters in the refugee camp Yarmouk, near Damascus, an official representative of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – Special Command (PFLP-SC), Anwar Raja reports.

He has not mentioned the exact number of victims.

“The terrorists did not try to hide their crime and openly announced the massacre,” – news agency SANA quotes the words of the representative today.

According to Raja, bandits from the ISIS and another radical group – Jabhat an-Nusra – who had infiltrated the camp, upset the process of normalization.

They attacked the positions of the united Palestinian self-defence forces and Syrian troops deployed around Yarmouk.

“This provocation was planned by the Saudi secret service in order to exert pressure on Damascus and hamper the conciliation agreements with militants seeking to stop the armed struggle,” he said. “We can no longer sit on the fence in the current situation,” said Raja.

#AceBreakingNews says a plane with a #Geneva2 peace…

#AceBreakingNews says a plane with a #Geneva2 peace talks delegation on-board has been reportedly prevented from refuelling as it landed in Athens, according to Syrian state TV.

The plane en route to Switzerland was permitted to pass through the relevant airspace and had to land at Athens’ airport for refuelling, Reuters reported.

Despite having proper clearances, the plane was still refused a refuel and the delay, so far, is three hours, according to SANA.

However, the “the issue has been settled,” Greek foreign ministry spokesman, Konstantinos Koutras, said as cited by Reuters.

“Everything is OK, it has been cleared for take-off,” he said, without specifying the reasons for the delay.

Local media reports, as cited by Itar-Tass, say that ground crew refused the refuel because the pilots had not provided the airport with any flight plans or informed them of their intention to land there.

As another reason, the media speculated that it could have been “sanctions against the Assad regime.”

The Geneva 2 conference, slated for January 22, has been on the verge of collapse.

One of the recent threats to jeopardize the peace talks was the Western-backed Syrian opposition’s demand to withdraw the invitation to Iran by 19:00 GMT Monday.

UN chief, Ban Ki-moon, retracted his invitation saying that Tehran “has chosen to remain outside that basic understanding” of the global consensus behind the Geneva communiqué.

Following the announcement Syria’s main opposition group – Syrian National Coalition – confirmed its participation in the peace talks.

More than 62,000 people arrived in Yemen from the Horn of Africa this year, the United Nations refugee agency said today, calling for increased cooperation among countries to ensure protection for asylum seekers who risk their lives on this deadly route.

“The crossing from the Horn of Africa to Yemen is one of several deadly sea routes worldwide that UNHCR watches closely,” spokesperson for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Adrian Edwards, <“http://www.unhcr.org/527cc7b66.html“>told reporters in Geneva.

“Hundreds of people, including Syrian refugees, have died in recent months crossing the Mediterranean to Europe. In Southeast Asia, just last weekend, dozens of people were reported missing after their boat capsized off the coast of Myanmar in the Bay of Bengal.”

Yemen has seen six successive years of high arrivals by sea. Since 2006, when UNHCR started collecting data, more than half a million asylum seekers, refugees and migrants have travelled by sea to Yemen. Most are Ethiopians, citing the difficult economic situation at home and often hoping to travel through Yemen to the Gulf States and beyond.

Somalis arriving in Yemen are automatically recognized as refugees by the authorities, while UNHCR has helped determine the refugee status of other asylum seekers, including from Ethiopia, Eritrea, and other countries.

UNHCR is encouraging cooperation among countries affected by mixed migration, and is supporting the Yemeni Government to organize a conference next week on asylum and migration together with the International Organization for Migration.

The three-day conference will took place in Sana’a, with participants from Governments from the Horn of Africa, Gulf States, donor countries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and institutions such as the Regional Mixed Migration Secretariat.

“The aim of the Yemen conference was to establish a regional plan to help manage mixed migration between the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula,” Mr. Edwards said.

The objective being to include, saving lives, ensuring better protection systems for asylum seekers and refugees, strengthening law enforcement against smuggling and trafficking networks, increasing funding for assisted-voluntary-returns programmes, and raising awareness of the dangers of irregular migration.
