#AceMediaNews says that the Mondadori publishing house announced on Tuesday that it is launching a new magazine entirely devoted to the weekly doings, sayings, gestures and activities of Pope Francis, AP said. “My Pope” hits news-stands on Wednesday.
It will include a free pull-out poster with one of Francis’ more memorable quotes from the previous seven days. Mondadori, part of ex-Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s media empire, is headed by his daughter, Marina Berlusconi.
#AceWorldNews says Italian Premier Matteo Renzi won a confidence vote in the Senate early on Tuesday, giving a boost to his new government.
The Italian Senate voted 169 to 139 to confirm Renzi’s broad coalition, from his centre-left Democrats to center-right factions that supported ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi.
The Chamber of Deputies – where Democrats have a sizeable majority – is expected to vote later Tuesday. Renzi had to overcome animosity among some members of his party in the Senate who openly criticized his use of aggressive tactics in ascending to the premiership over fellow Democrat Enrico Letta. Rezni, 39, was sworn into office on Saturday, becoming the youngest-ever Italian premier.
#AceWorldNews says Prosecutors open new investigation against Berlusconi in prostitution case
Milanese prosecutors have opened a new investigation against Silvio Berlusconi over accusations he corrupted witnesses in a trial in which he was convicted of paying for sex with a minor, Reuters reported. The investigation follows the conviction of three associates in a separate but related trial. They were found guilty of procuring young women for prostitution at parties at Berlusconi’s luxurious villa near Milan. Last year, judges alleged that the former prime minister and his lawyers had called in some of the young women for meetings to discuss the evidence they planned to give in court.
