(LONDON) Old Bailey Court Report: Three men have been convicted of the killing of a 23-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in Haringey in May last year #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Oct.26: Abdul Gaffer, 25 (09.05.96), of Grangefield, Marquis Road, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Thursday, 23 September.

#AceDailyNews Court Report: Three men have been convicted following the ‘fatal stabbing’ in Haringey in 2020: Tyrese Annan, 20 (23.02.01), of Sterling Road, Tottenham and Mizuki Brown, 25 (23.04.96), of Margery Street, WC1, were found guilty of the manslaughter of Jemal Ebrahim after a three-week trial at the Old Bailey on Friday, 22 October: They will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 26 October.

[Victim: Jemal Ebrahim]

CASE NOTES: The court heard police were called to Russell Road, N15, on 13 May 2020 to reports of a stabbing: Jemal was found seriously injured and was treated at the scene by LAS medics. He was then taken to a north London hospital where he later died from his injuries: A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the leg after his femoral artery was severed: It was the prosecution case that Brown and Annan arrived at the scene in a silver Nissan Qashqai driven by Gaffer on a ‘ride-out’ intent on attacking any member, or perceived member, of a rival gang: CCTV footage showed that Jemal was chased into an alleyway between Braemar Road and Southey Road. He was chased out of the alleyway by three youths, at least two of whom were armed with large knives: At least two of the youths caught up with him and then ran off. CCTV captured three men running back towards the silver Nissan Qashqai and then getting in, before it rapidly left the area. It was the prosecution case Annan and Brown were involved in the chase and stabbing and Gaffer was the driver of the car: CCTV analysis tracked the movement of the Nissan, which stopped in Effingham Road, N16. Brown, Annan and Gaffer were all then identified walking along streets in this area a short time later: All three were arrested and charged in connection with Jemal’s death on 15 June 2020: Five days after Jemal’s killing, in an apparent ‘tit for tat’ act of violence, Chad Gordon was shot dead on the Wiltshire Gardens Estate, just off Green Lanes. At least one of the gunmen involved in the shooting was a friend of Jemal Ebrahim. Chad was the victim of mistaken identity and had no gang links whatsoever.

Detective Inspector Andy McDonald, said: “Jemal Ebrahim was a young man who was endeavouring to make the best of his life. Having gone to China to study business and learn their language. He had a bright future ahead of him. He had returned to the UK and his return to China was hampered by Covid restrictions. Sadly, he was befriended and exploited by other young men in the locality who were embroiled in an all too common problem within our great city – postcode ‘gang’ wars. Where sadly, Jemal paid with his life as a result of the unprovoked, violent and indiscriminate actions of those that have been found / pleaded guilty: Young men who were prepared to drive to a neighbouring part of London in a vehicle armed with large knives. This stupid, pointless and cowardly attack resulted in several revenge ‘tit for tat’ incidents, where shots were fired before the tragic murder of Chad Gordon: This has been an extensive and diligent investigation by my team. However, we have been unable to positively identify and bring to justice two other men who were in the vehicle used by the attackers, and are equally as guilty. Whilst I am pleased that these verdicts can bring some closure to Jemal’s family, this investigation is not over.

“If anyone has any information that can lead to the identity and conviction of these individuals can I urge you to contact 020 8358 0200quoting Operation SCHOLES or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where your information will be treated in the strictest confidence.”

#AceNewsReport – Oct.13: Following a trial at Manchester Crown Court and after previously pleading guilty to murder and section 18 assault, a jury today (11 October) found Liam Bailey (25/10/2002), of Diamond Street, Leigh, not guilty of robbery and attempted robbery but guilty of one further count of robbery……

#AceDailyNews reports that a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found not guilty of section 18 assault, robbery and murder but guilty of inflicting bodily harm and manslaughter and a 16-year-old boy, who also cannot be named, was found guilty of murder and not guilty of robbery and attempted robbery after father found stabbed to death in canal in March of this year….

CASE NOTES: The court heard how in the early hours of Thursday 25 March 2021, all three males had lured 33-year-old Scott Anderton from Leigh town centre to a stretch of canal nearby: It was here that Mr Anderton was subjected to a violent assault, resulting in him sustaining 37 stab wounds to his body and blunt trauma injuries to his head before being pushed into the canal and left to die: He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene after police were after a woman discovered a body floating in the canal at around 7am.

All three males are expected to be sentenced on Friday 12 November.

Following today’s verdict, Detective Chief Inspector Liz Hopkinson of GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “I am pleased that a jury have been able to reach a verdict following these horrendous crimes and I commend Scott’s family for their courage and strength throughout what has been a lengthy and painful trial: This was a horrific and violent assault and we have been committed throughout this investigation to ensuring those responsible were held accountable for their heinous actions: These males now await what I suspect to be a lengthy custodial sentence and although sadly we are unable to reunite Scott with his loved ones, I hope today they feel a sense of justice being served.”

Speaking at the time of his death, Scott’s family described him “as the most caring, loving, kindest person you could meet” He made time for anyone he met and would always be there if anyone needed help. Even on the darkest of days Scott was always positive and had the cheekiest smile which was infectious…….Scott was our kid!……..Our family have been robbed of a son, dad, grandson, brother, nephew and uncle. There is an emptiness which can never be filled and our family will never come to terms with their loss………..The only comfort we can find in all this madness is knowing he will finally be at peace with his precious baby girl back in his arms…………….You are truly loved Scott”. We promise you will never be forgotten and your memory will live on so it’s not goodbye forever our kid but just goodbye for now………You will forever be our diamond in the mud.”

(LONDON) Old Bailey Court Report: A man has been convicted on Monday following a ‘fatal stabbing’ in Croydon in 2020 #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Sept.30: Jones, who had sporadically been treated for mental health issues over the past seven years, attacked his mother’s partner Paul McCarroll in an unprovoked attack on the evening of 20 November 2020…..Jones’ mother described the attack as sudden and inexplicable, and that, apart from minor disagreements about Jones’ sometimes difficult behavior, the two men had shared a civil relationship…..

#AceDailyNews reports on trial of Nicholas Jones, 35 (10.08.86) of Oaks Road, Kenley pleaded guilty to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility and was sentenced to an indefinite custodial hospital order under the Mental Health Act 1983 following a trial at the Old Bailey on Monday, 27 September.

CASE NOTES: In the early evening on the day of the attack, Jones’ mother spoke with her son about when he was planning to go to sleep, said goodnight, and went upstairs to her own bedroom where she sat on the bed with her partner whilst they both browsed on their phones: At around 18:00hrs Jones climbed the stairs, rushed in to the room and plunged a 15 inch knife in to Paul McCarroll’s torso, which entered his left lung and severed a main artery. Jones then immediately rushed out of the house and called the emergency services, giving them his full name, the name of the victim and stating that he had stabbed his mother’s partner because he believed that he was trying to “mind control” him. He also told officers who arrived at the scene that he had been hearing voices in his head for years: Emergency services worked incredibly hard to try to save Paul’s life, but he was pronounced dead at 18:50hrs: Detectives reviewing the case found that in January 2018, Jones had informed his GP that he could hear multiple different voices, sometimes saying negative things to him. Jones said that he would be frustrated and angry about the voices and had thrown and broken objects when the voices were ‘winding him up’.

Paul McCarroll’s sister Mel said: “The loss of my brother Paul through this terrible act of violence has left an agonising trauma that will resonate with us all for as long as we live. His granddaughter has been denied the chance to grow up surrounded by the love Paul would have shown her: The sentencing cannot bring us peace. This tragedy could have been prevented. All we can hope for is that no other families have to suffer the same fate we have.”

Detective Sergeant Quinn Cutler of the Met’s Specialist Central Crime team said: “Nicholas Jones committed a crime which has ultimately rendered a family without a brother, father and grandfather: Though we know that Paul’s family will never get over the loss of their loved one, we hope that the support of our officers has helped them in some way to get through it.”

(READING, U.K.) Crown Court Report: Three teenagers have today been sentenced in connection with the death of Olly Stephens, aged 13, who was fatally stabbed earlier this year #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Sept.24: Two boys, both aged 14, were convicted of murder on 26 July at Reading Crown Court following a five week trial. During the trial both boys pleaded guilty to a count each of perverting the course of justice and one boy was convicted of a further charge of the same offence.

#AceDailyNews reports that three teenagers sentenced in connection with death of Olly Stephens – Reading: Today they were sentenced at the same court to be detained for life with a minimum term of 12 years, 105 days, and 11 years, 105 days respectively……And a 14-year-old girl was also detained today for three years and two months’ for her role in Olly’s death. She had pleaded guilty before the trial began to one count of manslaughter and one count of perverting the course of justice.

Due to the ages of the defendants, it is against the law for any material relating to this trial to be published which names them or may identify them.

CASE NOTES: Olly was killed on 3 January this year in Bugs Bottom Fields, Caversham, approximately 200 yards from his home address: The court heard how the three defendants conspired between them to lure Olly to the field, following an argument he was involved in with one of the group on social media: When Olly arrived at the field, the two boys, one of whom was 13 years old at the time, started a fight with Olly: As the fight progressed, the younger boy drew a knife that he had brought with him and stabbed Olly twice before all the defendants fled the scene, leaving Olly critically injured: Significant attempts were made by members of the public and medical professionals to save Olly’s life, but tragically, his wounds were too serious and he was declared dead at the scene: A police investigation was launched, and the defendants were identified and arrested within a few hours. They were charged on 6 January.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Howard, of the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, said: “Today’s sentences mark the conclusion of an extremely harrowing period for all of Olly’s family and friends, and I would like to start by paying tribute to their immense bravery and dignity throughout this entire process: While I am pleased that justice has been done, and those responsible have been held accountable for their actions, there is no sense of victory for anyone involved in this incident, or investigation: A 13-year-old boy who had his entire life ahead of him, with so much unfulfilled promise and potential, has been killed in violent and needless circumstances: Three other young lives have also been changed forever. All of this could so easily have been avoided if those involved had not carried a knife that day: The circumstances of Olly’s death are truly shocking but it is vital that his death is not in vain. I know that Olly’s family are determined that his death is the foundation of something far more positive; in particular education and intervention for young people to try and prevent others from finding themselves in this type of destructive scenario: All of us as an adult community have a responsibility for children; we have a duty to set the right standards and values for our younger generations, to educate them around the risk of carrying knives, to intervene and provide them with suitable deterrents, to provide constructive ways to fill their time and support them in developing friendships and relationships that are not solely based on virtual contact. Most importantly we have to teach them and make them realise that life is precious: Nothing can bring Olly back to his family now, but I hope that lessons can be learned from this distressing case to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in future.”

(LONDON) Old Bailey Court Report: Four men who fatally stabbed a 24-year-old #NHS worker because he lived in south Newham have been sentenced to life imprisonment #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Sept.19: All four were convicted of murder at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 11 August. They were sentenced at the same court on Friday, 17 September. ….

#AceDailyNews reports that four men have been jailed for murder of #NHS worker in Newham

1./ Mohammad Jalloh, 19 (05.12.01), of Watt Street, Wapping, and Vagnei Colubali, 23 (18.01.98) of Suffolk Road, Enfield, must each serve at least 27 years in jail for the murder of 24-year-old David Gomoh last year.

2./ David Ture, 19 (09.11.01) of Bloomsbury Street, Camden, was sentenced to at least 26 years while Alex Melaku, 18 (16.9.03) of Bishopsdale, Telford, was handed a minimum of 21 years.

[David Gomoh]

Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith, who led the investigation, said: “These four defendants carried out a senseless attack on a completely innocent man and there is absolutely no doubt that London is a safer place with them behind bars: Despite the significant evidence linking them to this crime, all four refused to admit to their actions meaning David’s family and friends had to sit through a trial and re-live the worst night of their lives: “ Our thoughts, as always, remain with them and we hope they can now begin to grieve for the loss of their son and brother.”……….David was stabbed at least nine times by the group as he walked down Freemasons Road, E16 while on the phone to his girlfriend on 26 April 2020: He managed to stagger back to his home address where he collapsed on the ground outside. Despite being given emergency surgery in the street, David died soon after arriving at hospital: David was not involved in any gang but was targeted by the defendants because he lived in the wrong part of Newham and so was classed as a ‘rival’…..On the day of the murder, the four men armed themselves with knives and set out from a hotel in Stratford towards Canning Town in a stolen car fitted with false plates……….CCTV played in court showed that less than an hour before they set upon David, the defendants came across another man who they chased, carrying their weapons in their hands. Fortunately, he managed to outrun the group……..Cameras on board a bus then captured the car turning its lights off and stopping beside David, who turned to run as the doors to the vehicle opened. The attack itself was also caught on CCTV………His girlfriend, who he was speaking to at the time, heard a male voice ask ‘where are you from’ before the phone call ended.

CASE NOTES: Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command quickly began an investigation and the stolen car was found abandoned in Lincoln Road, E13, less than a mile from the scene of the fatal stabbing: A pair of sunglasses were found on the back seat of the vehicle, with DNA evidence linking them to Mohammad Jalloh. Another pair of sunglasses was recovered from the scene of the attack; DNA from the 17-year-old was found upon the left arm: During a search of Ture’s address, a series of graphic drawings were located which appeared to depict the fatal stabbing. Not only was the address of the murder identified but the clothing worn by the group was also shown.

David’s mum Marian said: “David’s murder is without doubt the hardest thing my family and I have been through. It is something that no parent should ever go through. While this has been painful beyond words, I am beyond grateful to God that we have seen justice and the four men who took my son’s life have been found guilty: “ The family would like to thank all the first responders on the scene that fateful night; the media, the police, especially the investigating officers, who have worked so hard to secure justice for David Jason Junior Gomoh, who was such a charismatic, intelligent and focused young gentleman: “ Nothing will bring back a life that was so full of promise and hope, a life that was brutally taken away from us; but we are grateful that now we can begin to mourn and build a fitting legacy for David.”
