(GRT MANCHESTER) Glazer Report: Family has since issued an apology to supporters on Wednesday, admitting that the club misjudged their mood by deciding to join the Super League #AceSportsDesk report

#AceSportsReport – May.04: Joel Glazer, United’s co-chairman, was set to become vice-chairman of the European Super League, which would have placed United as one of 12 permanent members in a breakaway competition from the Champions League.

Glazer family have no intention of selling Manchester United despite collapse of European Super League plans: Manchester United’s owners, the Glazer family, have no intention of listening to offers for the club as they remain committed to staying at Old Trafford for the long-term.

United fans have been starved of communication from the Americans since they acquired the club in 2005 and Joel’s claims that they will now try to ‘rebuild trust’ with supporters was laughed off, with fans pointing out the fact that they had never earned their trust.

The embarassment of the u-turn and the focus it has shone on ownership in football has renewed hope among United fans that the Glazers could sell the club, particularly as the collapse of the European Super League will deny the Americans hundreds of millions of pounds.

However, the Daily Mail claim the family are undeterred in their commitment to the club and they want to keep the Red Devils in the family for the long-term.

The Glazers have taken over £1bn out of the club in the last 16 years and though they’ve spent a similar amount in the last eight years on transfers, they restricted Sir Alex Ferguson’s spending during the first eight years of their ownership.

It wasn’t until the club fell out of the Champions League that the Glazers started to heavily invest in players.

A consortium called the Red Knights attempted to buy the club in 2010, with a set of supporters mobilising to wrestle the club back from the Glazers.

Supporters coordinated a Green&Gold campaign against their ownership but tensions have cooled in recent years.

But, with Ed Woodward set to step down at the end of the year, the Glazers have lost their human shield at the club and they’re under increasing pressure to sell up.
