The magnitude 6.9 earthquake Tuesday was the strongest since the 2011 #earthquake.

`Japanese Prosecutors drop charges over the `Fukushima’ and Protestor’s rally in Tokyo over Decision’

#AceWorldNews says hundreds of protestors rallied in Tokyo on Saturday at the decision by Japanese prosecutors to drop charges over the Fukushima nuclear crisis, which some have argued was a “man-made” disaster.

In March 2011 a huge tsunami, triggered by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake, crashed into the Fukushima nuclear plant, causing a meltdown that spewed radiation into the surrounding area, forcing tens of thousands of people to evacuate their homes.

A parliamentary report concluded that Fukushima was caused by Japan’s culture of “reflexive obedience” and not just the tsunami.

Campaigners have said that they will appeal the decision and continue to try and prosecute officials at the plant’s operator TEPCO for their role in the disaster.

#Fukushima: “Japan’s Trade Ministry Set to Approve Operator’s Plan”

#AceWorldNews says Japan’s Trade Ministry said it would approve a revival plan on Wednesday for the utility responsible for the Fukushima nuclear disaster, Tokyo Electric Power Co, Reuters reported. The plan hinges on TEPCO restarting its Kashiwazaki Kariwa nuclear plant to cut fossil fuel costs. An earlier plan by the company outlining a revival after its Fukushima plant was hit by an earthquake and tsunami in 2011 had to be torn up because it could not restart Kashiwazaki. TEPCO will also cut costs by reducing fuel spending and forming partnerships with other utilities, and upgrade fossil fuel plants.
