Man arrested following serious stabbing in Sandwell police were alerted just before 12.15pm to the incident in Upper High Street during which a 34-year-old man suffered a stab injury to his neck.

Detective Inspector Jackie Nicholson, said: “This is a shocking incident in which a man has been attacked in the street in broad daylight: “ Our enquiries are at an early stage but we’ve already seized CCTV and spoken to some key witnesses; at this stage we believe this to be a targeted attack: “ We’re still appealing for witnesses and would ask anyone who saw what happened to please get in touch as they would have important information.”

Rayon’s family said his death had left them “devastated”.

“There are no words which can accurately describe the pain we are suffering,” they said in a statement.

The family said the teenager had “his whole life ahead of him” and was in the process of applying for an apprenticeship.

“Rayon is not a statistic and he will not be remembered as such – he was a unique human being with a beating heart who was loved so dearly by his mum, dad, siblings, niece, nephew and friends.”Floral tributes have been left at the scene on the town’s Hazel Leys estate

A wide cordon remained in place on Wednesday and an officer was standing guard outside a property on the adjacent Reynolds Road.

Det Ch Insp Joe Banfield said he was “aware that there may be some pertinent video footage of last night’s incident taken” and urged anyone with mobile phone, CCTV or dashcam footage to send it to police.

He said: “Our inquiries into this murder are still progressing at a fast pace and we remain absolutely committed to bringing those responsible for Rayon’s death to justice.

“This is an exceptionally sad and tragic incident in which a young boy with his whole life ahead of him has died.

“Whilst we do believe that this was an isolated incident, high-visibility police patrols will be taking place in Corby to reassure the local community and I would encourage anyone with concerns in the area to approach one of our officers who will be happy to help.”Northamptonshire Police said inquiries were progressing “at a fast pace”A tent was erected on Reynolds Road on Wednesday

At the moment they are in hospital in a stable condition but both of their injuries are thought to be life changing: “ At this time one of the lines of enquiry we are following is that the victims and the suspects were known to each other: “ We will have a lot of officers in the area today as we try to piece together what happened in the early hours of this morning and I would appeal for anyone with information to get in touch.”
