UNITED STATES: ‘ PROTESTS BECOME RIOTS AFTER BLACK & WHITES ON BLACKS BY WHITES ‘

#AceNewsServices – Dec.07 – This is my featured post of riots in parts of the US whereby nothing is achieved by violence, except more people die, get injured and the government tightens restrictions on the people.

‘Starting with two police officers were injured as a California last night in a protest over police killings ‘

Starting with two police officers were injured in California last night in a protest over police killings as it turned violent with protesters smashing windows and throwing rocks and bricks at police, who responded by firing tear gas, authorities it was reported.

Several officers were struck, but there were just two reports of injury, Berkeley police spokeswoman Jenn Coats said.

A Berkeley police officer received hospital treatment for a dislocated shoulder after being hit with a sandbag, while another sustained minor injuries.

These types of protests are becoming all to common as was witnessed recently with protests after a white police officer was freed after killing a black teenager, in Ferguson

Even as early as this year a protest over the acquittal of two former California police officers in the beating death of a homeless man turned violent Saturday, with 13 arrests and the assault of a TV camerawoman, police said.

Though history repeats its self and time comes all too regularly when groups of youths and down trodden people decide to take the law into their own hands. This has happened all too often and events such as riots in 2013 attest as such.

'Monday's acquittal of two former Fullerton officers in the 2011 death of Kelly Thomas '

Or may we could back further to these riots in 2011 whereby the protest against Monday’s acquittal of two former Fullerton officers in the 2011 death of Kelly Thomas drew about 200 people, police Sgt. Jeff Stuart said.

He said most of the protesters were peaceful, but some took over intersections, blocked streets and vandalized business.

Video broadcast by KCBS-TV showed one person whose face was partly covered by a bandanna striking the camerawoman. She fled into her news van, and her crew called 911 when a group surrounded the vehicle, Stuart said.

' Protests over BART shooting turn violent '

‘ Protests over BART shooting turn violent ‘

Or this protest in 2009 over the fatal shooting by a BART police officer of an unarmed man mushroomed into several hours of violence Wednesday night as demonstrators smashed storefronts and cars, set several cars ablaze and blocked streets in downtown Oakland.

The roving mob expressed fury at police and frustration over society’s racial injustice. Yet the demonstrators were often indiscriminate, frequently targeting the businesses and prized possessions of people of color.

They smashed a hair salon, a pharmacy and several restaurants. Police in riot gear tried to control the crowd, but some people retreated along 14th Street and bashed cars along the way.

The mob smashed the windows at Creative African Braids on 14th Street, and a woman walked out of the shop holding a baby in her arms.

“This is our business,” shouted Leemu Topka, the black owner of the salon she started four years ago. “This is our shop. This is what you call a protest?”

Wednesday night’s vandalism victims had nothing to do with the shooting death by a BART police officer of Oscar Grant on New Year’s Day – but that did little to sway the mob.

All these riots took place in parts of the US and they were all racially led, black and whites on blacks by whites, if you get my drift.

WASHINGTON: ‘ MEMBERS OF BLACK CAUCUS CONDEMN GRAND JURY’S DECISION ‘

#AceNewsServices – WASHINGTON – Dec.02 – Members of the Congressional Black Caucus on Monday night condemned a Missouri grand jury’s decision last week to not indict a white police officer for shooting unarmed black teenager Michael Brown The Hills floor action reported.

In a series of House floor speeches on the first day back in session since the Thanksgiving recess, lawmakers said the grand jury’s conclusion that there wasn’t enough evidence to indict Ferguson, Mo. police officer Darren Wilson suggested African Americans didn’t receive the same treatment from the criminal justice system.

Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio), the CBC’s chairwoman, said it was an “embarrassment” the U.S. still has issues with race relations in 2014.

` Scientists Create a Self-Healing Skin Inspired by the Human Vascular System ‘

#AceNewsServices – ILLINOIS – May 09 – Developed by researchers at the University of Illinois, the new polymer is 100 times stronger then previously designed self-repairing plastics, making it capable of fixing holes as wide as 3 cm.

According to BBC News, researchers were inspired by the veins and arteries found in the human body, and moved to recreate a synthetic vascular system capable of delivering the liquid healing agent needed to patch holes that occur.

“Although self-healing of microscopic defects has been demonstrated, the re-growth of material lost through catastrophic damage requires a regenerative-like approach,” Professor Scott White, one of the lead researchers at the University of Illinois, told the news outlet.

Previously, scientists filled polymers with a capsule containing a specific chemical capable of making repairs. When the polymer was penetrated, the liquid was released and “bridged” the newly created gaps.

By recreating a network similar to the human vascular system, scientists developed a much faster way to distribute the healing chemicals, which now arrive in two different streams and combine to spread a gel-like substance over the affected area. When the gel hardens, the plastic regains roughly 62 percent of its original strength.

“We filled regions exceeding 35mm within 20 minutes, and restored mechanical function within three hours,” the researchers wrote in an article for Science.

“Vascular systems can potentially eliminate fracture in materials by preventing small, noncritical cracks from propagating to critical sizes,” they added.

While the breakthrough is impressive, White and his fellow researchers stated that further research would be needed, and an even more effective distribution system would be required before the plastic would be able to repair itself after more devastating ruptures. In the future, scientists would like products to be able to repair themselves after suffering from bullet strikes and even bomb damage.

“When damage is unpredictable and uncontrolled, more complex and interconnected vascular networks will be necessary to provide sufficient vascular coverage and redundancy to circumvent channel blockage,” Prof White and his co-authors wrote.

Until then, let’s just hope they figure out a way to fix all these broken smartphone screens.
