(BIRMINGHAM, U.K.) WM Police Report: Officers have busted cannabis factories worth a combined £1.5 million and recovered weapons as we continue the fight against drugs and organised crime groups in Coventry #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – May.30: Officers acted on intelligence and carried out raids at a dozen addresses around the city last week. Cannabis plants seized:

WM Police Report: Dozens of addresses targeted in fight against Coventry drug gangs as officers seized almost 1,500 plants and dismantled dangerous hydroponic set-ups which would have led to many more being grown and also recovered five knives including a homemade spear.

27th May 2021

Image

The drug dens are suspected of being used to fund organised crime gangs and this action forms part of our efforts to combat their illegal activities.

Weapon

Neighbourhood officers carried out raids at properties in St George’s Road, Marlborough Road, Aldbourne Road, Windmill Road, Marlston Walk, Freeman Street and Winchester Street. This included several addresses in some streets.

Cannabis plants

We arrested and charged four foreign nationals aged between 21 and 42 – with cultivation of cannabis. They have been remanded as other immigration enquiries are completed.

However, further investigations are being carried out around those linked to the drug farms.

Chief Inspector Paul Southern, from Coventry Police, said: “This forms part of our ongoing efforts to dismantle drug dens which we believe are connected to wider crime groups: “ They are not only illegal, but dangerous, with the set ups to bypass electricity a real fire threat. A significant blaze could put the safety of others living nearby at risk: “ We often find people are trafficked and exploited to front these farms and we’re striving to break the chain by catching those at the heart of these criminal enterprises: “ We will take any information we receive from the public seriously and would urge anyone who believes a cannabis farm is operating near them to inform us.”

This can be done via Live Chat on the website or by calling us on 101. Alternatively call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

(BIRMINGHAM, U.K.) WM Police Report: Officers from ‘East Organised Crime Unit’ teamed up with armed police and a dog unit to execute seven early morning warrants at addresses in the east of the city #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Mar.12: Officers have carried out a series of raids during a three-day blitz on gangs in Birmingham: The 33-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drugs supply and gun possession in connection with an operation we ran last October that led to the discovery of guns and drugs from a parked car:

Man arrested up tree as we carry out blitz on Birmingham gangs: ‘During one in Ward End Close, Washwood Heath, on Monday (8 March) a man fled the address but was tracked down hiding in a tree in a nearby garden’

11th March 2021:

He’s been bailed pending further enquiries.

See here

In a simultaneous raid we forced entry to a house in Church Road, Stechford, where a significant quantity of cash, a CCTV hard drive and mobile phones were seized: More addresses were raided in Malthouse Lane and at neighbouring homes in Ward End Park Road, Washwood Heath; Swancote Road in Stechford; and Clent Hill Drive, Rowley Regis, in the early hours of Tuesday and Wednesday morning: No further arrests were made but more phones were seized for forensic analysis plus a machete recovered from the Sandwell raid: The action came on the back of simmering tensions between rival groups and the threat of violence escalating.

Inspector Sharon Revitt from our Birmingham East Organised Crime & Gangs Unit said: Her team has recently been expanded − and that more people with gang links can expect similar rude awakenings: She added: “There have been incidents of disorder and firearms discharges which we suspect are linked to tensions between two gangs in east Birmingham: “ It’s totally unacceptable: in any incident like this there is a chance a totally innocent member of the public could end up being seriously hurt: “ We’ve increased our officer numbers which gives us more scope to carry out disruption activity against people affiliated with gangs: “ We work with partners to help divert young people away from gangs and support those wanting to exit gangs and on paths to more positive futures: “ But for anyone who refuses our help, and continues to be a threat to our communities, we will come after them and use all tactics at our disposal to minimise their threat.”

If you suspect anyone is linked to drugs supply or firearms you can pass information to the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

(BIRMINGHAM, U.K.) WM Police Report: Officers arrested a suspected drug dealer after our patrol officers spotted a package being exchanged in a Coventry park #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Mar.09: Neighbourhood PCs were patrolling in Edgwick Park, Foleshill, on Saturday night when they spotted what they believed was a drug deal taking place:

Edgwick Park is subject to a Public Space Protection Order

Drug deal suspect arrested after exchange in ‘protected’ Coventry park: ‘Officers followed a man into Foleshill Road where he was detained and a large package of cannabis found hidden inside his trousers’

8th March 2021

A ‘burner’ phone and weighing scales were also recovered from the 19-year-old who was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply.Edgwick Park is subject to a Public Space Protection Order

We’ve done lots of work in Edgwick Park in recent years as part of ongoing efforts to rid it of anti-social behaviour and drugs crime.

It’s seen us, alongside Coventry City Council, secure a Public Space Protection Order which means officers can move on groups of two or more if they engage in anti-social behaviour.

And we also regular enforce Dispersal Orders in the park at weekend to keep people safe and ban people whose behaviour is a cause for concern.

Foleshill Police Sergeant Asa Morris said: “We’ve improved lighting, opened the park up by removing bushes, knocked down an old toilet block that was attracting drug misuse and put in more CCTV cameras: “ It’s an important open space for people to get exercise, enjoy and bring their children – and we will take a firm stance on anyone who threatens that or makes people feel uneasy: “ Edgwick Park is a key part of our patrol strategy and will continue to be so.

“If anyone sees any suspicious activity in the area then please call us on 999 so we can take action.”

The 19-year-old has been released under investigation to allow us more time to forensically analyse the recovered phone.
